Is it depressing to dine out on Thanksgiving?

I don't feel it is depressing to dine out on Thanksgiving as long as it is not every year. The best year ever was when we went to Cal-Neva at North Shore, the food was awesome the decor beautiful and no one had figured out yet that was the place to go. Year two was not as spectacular and after that they closed down.
One other time we went to a place locally, I was irritated that the food was not as good as mine (how do you mess up turkey?) and it was more than if I had bought a $100 turkey with all the best fixin's. I also notice the seating is pretty tight that day.

Pavlova with Lemon Curd and Fresh Berries

Sometimes I don't even put berries on top, I feel the flavors are outstanding without them.

Pavlova with Lemon Curd and Fresh Berries

This is a GREAT recipe. I noticed my meringue spread out and cracked when I took it out of the oven, so I though I might try a springform pan with parchment paper the next time I make it. The lemon curd was even better the next day, so I think you could make it a day or two before the meringue. I didn't bother with any fruit on top, but if I had to choose, I think blueberries would be the best choice.
This dessert is a MUST TRY.

Toffee disaster - what went wrong?

I believe it to be the brand of butter used for the toffee. When I used Costco butter to make my second batch of the day, the toffee broke. The first batch I made with a more expensive butter was beautifully perfect, just like it always is. I think some cheap butters have much less cream in them which causes said toffee disaster. I think i'll ask Alton Brown about this.
