Mumbai (Bombay) restaurant suggestions? [Moved from International board]

Any recommendations for (1) a business lunch/dinner place, (2) something young and hip for 20- and 30-something entertainment industry types and (3) something for my 60-something parents? Doesn't have to be Indian cuisine. Thanks!

Does NYC have any place comparable to FRESH?

That sounds great, actually. Not exactly like Fresh, but still good. If you ever do get to Toronto, head over to Fresh, it's good, inexpensive food.

Does NYC have any place comparable to FRESH?

I am a fan of the restaurant chain called Fresh in Toronto. Great menu, really inventive vegetarian dishes, freshly made and delicious. And sort of hipper than a traditional vegetarian restaurant. Have not found a comparable restaurant in NYC. Angelica's food is less tasty and heavier, for example. Any suggestions?

Drinks before dinner at Gramercy Tavern

The tavern part of Gramercy Tavern itself is a nice place to have a drink, like graphisbeb said-- nice atmosphere, great drinks and wine list. Otherwise, there are two nice places on/near Irving Place, which is a quaint street. First one is Cibar, which is usually quiet and has a nice ambience. Second, Bar Jamon-- all Spanish wines sold in cuartinos-- it can be really crowded depending on time of day, but if you get it at a time when there are seats, it's pretty charming.

Best gelato places in the World?

I'd have to say Giolitti in Rome is pretty fantastic. There's also a wonderful little gelateria (have no idea what the name is) right off the Pantheon (heading towards Piazza Navona and right next to a pizzeria). I make a special trip there every time I'm in Rome.

La Sorbetteria Castiglione in Bologna is great. So is any Freddo's in BsAs (you're right, best, it's great value). And I just have to give a mention to the olive oil gelato at Otto's in Manhattan-- not exactly something you have when you're craving sweet gelato, but it's so great with dinner...

Ethos v. Pylos...which one?

Pylos if you want a nice room, great ambience and a more upscale menu. Their wine list is really good. Ethos is a good neighborhood option depending on where you're located-- and their fish beats Pylos hands-down. Also, Ethos has better grilled halloumi cheese and saganaki, and their taromosalata is mroe tasty. I've always had more pleasant (albeit more casual) service at Ethos, as well.
