Sacramento kosher options as well as Napa Valley Touro College sells kosher food in their cafeteria. Vallejo is on the way to Napa. Near 6 Flags. |

Actually, the major national hashgachos don' t agree with you. They say EVOO does not require certification other than Passover. Product adulteration is a Federal issue. Blends and and other forms of olive oil do require certification. |

Near Fish Grill (Beverly/La Brea) are 2 delis with seating. Abba's and Elite Cuisine. |

I brought some Amazing Meals with me and showed the inspector the USDA stamp on the package & was told it was acceptable. Seems like it is more a matter of who checks you than actual policy. Also brought munster cheese in the original packaging and that was permitted. |

Question of Almond Butter/ Almond Flour over Pesach Straight almond butter would be kosher for Passover, but you would want to know what else was ground on that equipment. The grinding causes heat (friction) & can reach over 120F which has its own set of "issues". Some processors have added dairy chocolate chips to some nut butters making everything D or DE. Almond flour by itself would also be ok, but if ground or packaged in an area that does other flours you may have cross contamination with chometz. So, in theory you are totally correct, just the application needs clarification. Almond milk - see http://oukosher.org/passover/guidelin... |

Update a year later. Entered Mexico yesterday in Mazatlan. Brought Meal Mart Amazing Meals/chicken. Was told that meat or chicken with a USDA plant # on the label IS allowed. |

Lax & Mandel's - Cleveland, Ohio I'll try it on my next trip. Thanks! Can they beat Unger's brownies?? |

Lax & Mandel's - Cleveland, Ohio As a kid, they had great challah and Unger's had the best pastry. |

I guess it all depends on your point of reference! |

White, concord, or red? |
|

Absolutely correct! The more you roll them the harder they become. |

Any flavor CornNut (not chips) with a current Best By date are OU Pareve. Packaging will (eventually) be updated and carry the OU logo. Nacho, Raanch, original, all pareve no matter what the ingredient legend says. They are only produced at the CornNut plant in Fresno, CA and that plant is now 100% kosher-pareve. |

My wife and I went to Nana Cafe for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. I'm not given to writing restaurant reviews. We sat inside and the noise level was rather low. A marked improvement over previous visits under different ownership. She had the sweet potato salad and I had ahi tuna shwarma & french onion soup. The food was very good, served in a reasonable time frame, portions were generous, and the hot food was hot. It cost around $40 which is a bit much for lunch; on the other hand this isn't a quick in and out sandwich shop. RCC/Cholov Yisroel. |

hansen's bakery LA-who certifies them as kosher Rabbi Sharfman died in 2000 and Kosher Overseers was bought by the OU a few years ago. The OU doesn't (and never did) certify that bakery. I think Rabbi Kelerman did at one point, but not sure if he still does. |

For one day only, Sonoma or Napa? Napa has Hagafen Cellars with a tasting room with posted hours. If you call ahead you may be able to find out if there will be grape crush that day. |

26 (West LA) - Horrible experience, and Jeffs saves day If you don't mind the drive, we've always had great service & great food at Tierra Sur in Oxnard. |

26 (West LA) - Horrible experience, and Jeffs saves day Very sorry that you had such a miserable experience. We use Jeff's and LA Burger Bar for a meal that never dissapoints. They've both bailed us out of unhappy situations mor than once. Good service is getting very hard to find. |

Maple Grill has discounts??! Great! Food is fantastic! |

Some of the "better" olive oil brands pride themselves on having sediment on the bottom of the bottle. |

Ciao Bella ice cream/yogurt/sorbet moving to OU I just looked at the Star-K list (www.star-k.org) and the OU list (www.oukosher.org) and sorbets are all still pareve. What sorbet did you see that was pareve is now listed OU-D? |
|

Hershey's Special Dark went dairy because they changed it by adding butter. Stella Doro was going to change for a totally different reason. While you are correct that chocholate gys loath water, and some 20 years ago American hashgachos did kasher with cocoa butter and have stopped; the examples you cite aren't relevant. |

Actually it is California-K, Rabbi Teuchman. Pareve. Pas Yisroel. They are available at Ralph's as well. |

This is the OU answer. If you want more details, email me at rabbi@tmo.blackberry.net |

Yes, this specific flour, labeled OU-D, should not be used in pareve or meat pans. HOWEVER, if it was used already, you do not have to rekasher the pans or throw out the food that was made. All future baking should be done in dairy pans. |
|
|
Correct. It shouldn't be eaten with actual meat or poultry but it could be served as dessert immediately after the meat. |
|
|
I checked with the OU and they certify the product as OU-D. It seems that while the product does not contain any dairy ingredients, the production lines are not cleaned well enough for the OU to certify it as pareve. That type of cleaning in a "mix plant" where oils and other "sticky" ingredients are used are difficult to clean. If you used it already it wouldn't make your cake pan dairy, but you shouldn't use the cake flour in pareve or meat pans from this time forward. |

Flat not curly wide egg noodles In Los Angeles, La Brea Kosher Market normally has. If not, try Western Kosher. |

Went there recently for work. Virtually nothing is available. You can NOT bring in any meat. Only dairy products labeled Product of Australia can be brought in. I think the fine for not declaring food is around $450. BTW cell phone charges are over US$4.00/minute and not all hotels take credit cards - check in advance. ATMs have a US$5.00 service charge. On my 3rd day I asked a cab driver "where are all the beautiful locations we see in the posters?". He said that those are private islands. |
