Boston Public Market is here

BPM is very convenient.
I don't have to trek it to Somerville to try Union Sq. Donuts.
Opening week I tried the maple bacon & hazelnut crunch. Yesterday I tried the Belgium chocolate & Salted Bourbon. Next time the vanilla or the strawberry?
Or maybe I'm done...at least the wife is done with them. She finds them too doughy.
Curious, has anyone tried Red's fried clams? I thought they only sold raw seafood but I noticed a few made to order items on the menu board.
$14 for an order of fried clams seems reasonable. Don't know the size of that but I can't wait to try *excited*

Seoul Soulongtang and Bottega Fiorentina any good?

I like the combo meals where you can get a soup plus some charred beef i.e. galbi

They have some decent business so it's pretty good.

Awesome burgers: new thread

Tried Smashburger for the first time this past weekend over in Westwood on University Ave. It wasn't bad. The wife thought the flavor was good and the toppings were pretty fresh. The kid loved the sweet potato fries. I'd go back if I was in the area and needed a quick burger. Will try the truffle fries next time. For this thread, I'd say it's a safe burger in line with 5 guys, Shake, etc. Haven't had a "bad" burger in awhile.

Nothing about Chinatown?
A ten/15 minutes walk. 5 minute cab ride.
I'm surprised at the Boston CH's.

West Rox Recommendation

Misono on the VFW. The restaurant would like you to believe they are located in Chestnut Hill but alas it's W.Rox.
They recently passed with flying colors from ISD:

For Japanese and Korean:

The wife enjoys their sushi. I like the hot Korean entrees.

Wegmans Natick

What Wegmans does for my 15 month old? He loves the free complimentary choco chip cookie from the bakery every time we visit.

Lobster sauce

I recently found out the Bu Bor Cha Cha Restaurant on Beach St in Chinatown has on the menu lobster cantonese style. Brings back many memories of eating it as kid when the place was Lucky Dragon.
Nice post! I must make my way there again to try the "true" lobster sauce.

Boston Public Market is here

Yep! I enjoyed my brown butter hazelnut crunch and maple bacon donuts very much. Planning on splitting the pastrami sandwich (a whole one) with a coworker this week. I've never been to Katz so it'll be nice have something to compare to.
It's tough getting thru Mondays and Tuesdays back to back knowing BPM is closed. Y are they closed these two days btw, anyone know?

Tasty Cambodian Dessert

Sounds similar to something I tried last night. Don't know what they were called but my cambodian friend shared some with me.

When I first looked at them I thought it was a sausage. LOL. If you take an overly ripened sweet plantain coat it with with flour, coconut, sugar and black sesame seeds and lightly fry it. That's what I had.

Mmmm good.

Cantonese banquet qs (1 potential long shot)

Joyful Garden has convenient and free parking. I had my son's first 100 days celebration there last year. The manager spoke english and dealing with them was fairly easy. Their service was perfect the day of the event.
I chose their set dishes for table of 8 ppl and added 2 dishes. My event was for 10 tables. Going that route was easier on the wallet than choosing the fixed banquet offerings.

Breakfast near XV Beacon please?

One Ashburton Place - gov't/state building. The basement has a cafeteria that serves the gamut - http://gometro.com/ashburton-cafe/

Plus across the hall is the Lottery Office where you can try your luck.

New Thai Restaurants in Newton

Have not tried Manow yet but my Thai friend says it's as good as Rod Dee and Duk Bua, if not, better. He really praised it for it's authenticity and reasonable prices. It's on my radar to try.

Live Lobster prices- please share what you see!

Picked up a few from the Roche in West Rox - $5.99 p/lb. 1.25 lbs ea. They were very good. The shells were harder than the usual flimsy chicken lobster. Harder shells are a good sign of sweeter meat.

Boston recs

Belle Isle in Winthrop just over the bridge from East Boston (10 mins from Logan) for fried clams, lobster rolls and clam chowder. I know you can't get your fix in TX or SF this stuff.

pizza memories

Anyone remember Dino's (I think that was the name) waaaaay back in the day in the middle of the "Combat Zone"? I have fond memories of the thin crispy crust and the corn meal like stuff on the pan (not pizza ingredient expert here). Mom used to take me there for a slice on occasion. It was a simple slice of cheese but the smells and tastes I haven't found replicated. I think the nostalgia of it just makes it that special inside my head. And the Ugi's down the street, bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast. Ahhh the memories.

Besito Chestnut Hill April 2015

I'm a recent dad and I find it a little offensive when I'm seated way out in the outskirts of a restaurant's floorplan.

It happened to me recently at a pricey seafood restaurant at Legacy Place in Dedham. I get it. They see a baby and want to set us aside in case of noise disruptions or flailing food.

My slight offense was quickly overshadowed by the amazing clam chowder and fish tacos I had for lunch. Plus my baby boy is a well behaved little cherub so it's all good.

Nice to know the upscale Mexican restaurant @ Chestnut Hill isn't all that. I'll wait for Frank Pepe's in the fall.

Best Japanese in Dedham/Westwood?

I'd stick with Oga's especially since you are familiar with it. Was just there for Easter Sunday dinner. My one year old loved the pork belly buns and tamago sushi. I had the tempura soba with a side of spicy tuna and my wife ordered a donburi. Everything was done well. They've been in the game long enough to keep it consistent.

I've been to Genki and JP Seafood (prefer JP Seafood over Genki) but since you want to make an impression - Oga.

Seafood Dim Sum recs

HLM is so busy it ensures the food to be fresher than the other not as busy restaurants. Expect long waits with larger parties. How about the fish filet with chinese broccoli or mixed vegetables on chow mein? My grandma's fave. I haven't gone to CCC in ages. For me, if you want the best, just go to HLM. I'm not saying China Pearl or Winsor isn't any good but for that once a year experience, just go HLM. If venture to Ctown every so often, then try the others.

Seafood Dim Sum recs

Hei La Moon. Everything already suggested plus siu mai (pork and shrimp) dumplings, shrimp with rice noodles (cheurn fun) and you could easily order up a seafood 8 delight with chow mein (crispy noodle) or hor fun (wide flat noodles). Dim sum is best with a large group so you can try many things. Enjoy!
