Food truck for New Years Eve? To come to someone's house in Boca...

Hi Chowhounders, my friends and I are looking to hire a food truck for New Years Eve this year. It would be at someone's house and it's in Boca. We had one called The Fire Within about a year ago, but we heard that they might not be open anymore because their truck was damaged in an accident awhile back. Any other ideas?? Thanks so much!

Pitti Gola e Cantina Wine Tasting Dinner - Florence

Went to the Wine Tasting Dinner which was led by Zeno a few nights ago. It was amazing! My husband and I were completely charmed by Zeno. The whole night was a wonderful learning experience for us Highly recommend!

In Rome now, searching for great coda da vaccinara tonight

Looking to go to dinner at 9:30 or 10 p.m. tonight in Rome at a restaurant where my husband and I can try quality coda la vaccinara. Would welcome some great traditional pasta dishes as well. Can have our hotel make a reservation or else will need a restaurant where I won't need a reservation considering the late time. Actually have a reservation at 10 at Antico Arco but considering we leave tomorrow to go on to Florence and still haven't tried that oxtail dish, would like to do so. Plus, we went to All'Oro last night (delicious!!!) and feel we've already done that type of nicer less traditional meal. Went to Da Felice today and had that amazing cacio de pepe!!

THANK YOU!

Also have Al Sangiovese on our list as well as Amerigo during our few days in Bologna...

All'Oro or Antico Arco?

Great! Thanks so much. is L'Arcangelo more casual? I'm getting so excited!! We leave on Wednesday next week. You've been a huge help by contributing to a bunch of questions I have asked, so thanks a lot!

What Italian food items do you bring back to the U.S.?

How does it work if you buy stuff in the beginning of the trip and want to bring it back with you at the end of a 10 day trip? I've heard they wrap it a certain way so that it stays good (but is that even the case with cheese and other perishables?). Obviously it would be easy to bring back aslt, chocolates, wines, and other bottled things, but I'm definitely thinking I want to bring back some cheese, etc too. Thanks!

All'Oro or Antico Arco?

In your opinion, what is the attire for dinner at Antico Arco and All'Oro for both women and men? Also, at restaurants like L'Arcangelo?

My Bologna Food Itinerary...Thoughts?

Hi deensdream, what night are you going to go to dinner at Amerigo? We made a reservation for 9:00 p.m. on October 17th (Wednesday) and we're being picked up at 8:15 p.m. by someone at the restaurant and then brought back to our hotel. We're staying near the main Piazza in Bologna which apparently is about 45 minutes away from the restaurant. I was quoted 90 euros. It is the time of white truffle and mushrooms. :) If you go the same night, maybe we can split the transportation!

Great. I made a reservation for Da Amerigo. We arranged with the restaurant for transportation to the restaurant and back from our hotel. Really looking forward to it! Will give a full trip report upon our return (will be in Italy Oct 10-21).

Times for lunch in Rome at Da Felice in Testaccio

I was really into Da Felice because of their tonarelli cacio e pepe. :) Originally I was going to go to Roma Sparita for their cacio e pepe, but then started thinking maybe Da Felice would be better. Does Perilli make a great one, too? Just wanted to have a very traditional homestyle local-filled lunch one day and thought that Da Felice might fit the bill. Should I reconsider?

Times for lunch in Rome at Da Felice in Testaccio

How long would it take to eat lunch (on average) at Da Felice in Testaccio? Have a 12:30 p.m. reservation for lunch on a Saturday in October, but was planning to buy a ticket for the Galleria Borghese which would be from 3 - 5 p.m....but we need to be there a half hour early @ 2:30 p.m. I googled mapped it and apparently it's around a 15 minute cab ride from one to the other. I just want to make sure that lunch wouldn't be over later than 2 p.m. (so that would be an hour and a half lunch).

Thanks so much!

Stacey

All'Oro or Antico Arco?

I need to drop one of the reservations I have for All'Oro or Antico Arco. I think I'm going to switch one of them to a pizzeria in Trastevere. We only have 3 nights in Rome and I want to be sure to do different types of meals.

If I had to drop one of those, which should it be?

My husband and I are in our early 30's, like places with good atmopshere, but most importantly good food!
Thanks!

My Bologna Food Itinerary...Thoughts?

Hello...just checked out the menu for Da Amerigo and it sounds amazing! How much approximately do you think it would be for a cab from hotel (Albergo al Cappello Rosso located at Via de’ Fusari, 9 Bologna, 40123) in central Bologna? Would that be something that my hotel would arrange for me? I'm assuming so... Also, what is the attire for Da Amerigo? Thanks so much for the suggestion!

My Bologna Food Itinerary...Thoughts?

Hi everyone! Been really enjoying reading all the opinions on Chowhound regarding restaurants in Italy. Going on a 10 day trip in October and spending 3 nights in Bologna. Just so you know...we can eat!! We are in our early 30s and have very good appetites (at least when we're on vacation, haha). We're really into trying all the traditional food and I more than my husband am happy to try a little more adventerous food, too.

First day I have us going to lunch at Da Cesari.

First night have a reservation at La Traviata at 9:00 p.m.

Second day we are doing the Italian Days Food Tour so lunch will be taken care of with them, and then for dinner I figured we probably won't want a full meal so we might go to Tamburini or Le Stanze.

Third day we're doing the Bologna Cooking School from about 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

For dinner, I was thinking Al Sangiovese around 9 p.m.

What are your thoughts? Also, if I changed our 2 dinner reservations to 9:30 p.m., would that be too late or okay?

Thanks so much!

Pizza lunch/snack in Trastevere

Very familiar with Da Poeta, I have it written down to check out. It seems that it's that good where I won't care that it's not traditional Roman style. :) And I would find it hard to resist that nutella/ricotta pizza!! Is Dar Poeta open for lunch on a Friday? Been googling around to find that out but can only find things that say it's open on the weekends.

Also, is Da Enzo still located in the same place? I saw something on Chowhound that it had turned into a restaurant called Da Teo and had moved?

Thanks so much! So, just confirming...the artichokes that you mentioned they have at Da Enzo would be the same type that I'd be getting at Piperno, right? Do you think they're better than the fried artichokes at Piperno? I see Da Enzo gets great reviews! Sounds like a wonderful recommendation.

Antico Arco or Glass Hostaria?

Our first night when we arrive (traveling from Miami, Florida), I did make the dinner reservation at 8:30 p.m. instead of the later 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. that I made the other nights. My husband and I are in our 30's and very accustomed to eating a lot and late on the weekends, so I have confidence (and he REALLY has confidence, lol) that we'll do fine with chowing down a lot in our travels. :)

Tre Panche in Florence - worth going??

Yeah, I don't know what to do!! Would you take a gamble and go or just go somewhere else? As it is now, I'd have to switch my itinerary around to fit it in.... I'm an American too - from Miami.:)

So you think it might be a good idea to cancel one of the nicer meals out of All'Oro and Antico Arco? Which would you keep?

Antico Arco or Glass Hostaria?

I've been planning while in Rome in October to have dinner at both All'Oro and Antico Arco, but now I'm thinking I might want to switch out one of them with a casual dinner at a pizzeria. What are all your thoughts about this? While in Rome, my meals will be:

1st day: Lunch at Roscioli, Dinner at L’Arcangelo (Thursday Gnocchi!)
2nd day: Lunch at Piperno, Dinner now scheduled for All'Oro...at Piperno would it be possible to just have a snack of fried artichokes, maybe some zucchini flowers, and the "Grandpa's Balls" for dessert? Or does it have to be a full complete meal there?
3rd day: Lunch at Felice a Testaccio, Dinner scheduled for Antico Arco

Then we go to Florence the next morning.

By the way, if I have "explore the Campo D'Fiori Market" and try the pizza bianca, etc. at the Forno Campo Fiori and at the Roscioli Market too, should that be considered a meal? I was thinking it would just be a snack especially if we do it in the morning a few hours before lunch.

Thank you!

Pizza lunch/snack in Trastevere

Hello all,

Would like the name of a great Roman style pizzeria in Trastevere to go to for a lunch/snack around 1:30 or 2 p.m. on a Friday in October? Thank you!
