Saffron Bistro Nashua, closing

They were mentioned in a Nashua Telegraph article about 6 months ago and how the city tearing up the sidewalks was hurting their business. I wonder if that hurt their bottom line.

north conway visit

Try the Red Parka Inn. Good kind of ski pub and decent food. Also stay at the Bernerhof Inn, best homemade breakfast around!

Nashua area news?

From the paper it looks like the two new restaurants in the DW Plaza are going to be fast food take out places because they only seat between 50-75 people. There is a lot of activity at the Merrimack outlets, I know there is going to be a Qdoba and a DD but they are also building something down around the corner too. Also there are supposed to be restaurants up on 101A across from Lowes. Lots of construction but no announcements.

Tara Commons Nashua,NH WholeFoods maybe?

I heard a rumor a few months back that Shaw's was holding onto the lease in the Merrimack plaza that is mostly empty (where Silver Maple was) but it is running out and they might sell that property. It would be big enough for a WF. Actually there are several places in Merrimack including along Continental Blvd that could be developed also. I guess we will have to wait and see. I thought with Trader Joe's expanding they would be anxious to get in the area.

Restaurants at the Merrimack Outlets?

Why can't they bring something new to the area? We already have an Unos right near the outlets and we have a Ruby's on Amherst Street. At least Cracker Barrel is new. Why can't we get a Cheesecake Factory or Red Lobster at the very least?

Has anyone ever tried the new place where YaMammas was? Every time I go by it looks closed and I have never seen any ads or mention of it.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

Thanks rizzo! I have found some local haunts such as country kitchen and Parkers, but I really need to find more, that's part of the reason I joined Chowhound. Other than a newspaper do you guys have any other sources you use to find out about the local goodies? Folks at work seem to be fans of the chains not many local favorites.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

Couldn't agree more Topchef1. I do support local as much as I can. I also frequent Angelas, and Lui lui, I just won't go back to Crush, as I said I gave it three chances just don't care for it. Frankly, I wish there were more local restaurants around to try. You are also right about local businesses supporting the community, I have noticed a void beginning of local businesses either not being around or not affording to be able to support little league, pop warner, drum and bugle corps and school events like they used to. I remember as a kid how locals used to fight to be the first to sponsor a community event for the publicity and the honor of helping, now so many have to constantly worry if they will be in business next year.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

As I have said before, I did not enjoy Crush Pizzeria. Been three times now, just not my cup of tea. However, I am a firm believer in having a variety of places for everyone's palate otherwise we would have nothing but Dominoes and Pizza Hut. But Crush has other problems. I know for a fact that both my husbands employer and my daughters employer used to have Crush pizza brought in for their lunch meetings and now both companies have a standing order that Crush is not to be ordered, both because it is too expensive and portions too skimpy. Now knowing what I do about business this can't be good. I mean sure Crush won't appeal to the masses or the little league team getting pizza after a game, but their business model seems flawed in this struggling economy. Nashua is a great small city but it's not Boston or Cambridge where fancy expensive restaurants can survive. Even if Guy Fieri is coming that means nothing (remember Food Network coming to Ya Mammas and declaring it phenomenal, they are now out of business). Crush needs to either offer big specials, make family pizzas or maybe relocate elsewhere. With their quality ingredients and waitstaff tripping over one another they must have high overhead. Plus being in a strip mall and looking like a cheap pizzeria doesn't help. Anyways, just my view but I do hate to see new family owned places struggle or have a greedy bank call in loans which is rumored to have been the downfall of other small restaurants in the area.

Nashua area news?

Does anyone know about any happenings in the Nashua area? Chipotle on 101A and the Green Grocer behind Five Guys still haven't opened even though they both said they were opening in December. Also, where is Whole Foods going in? Their website says coming soon to Nashua. A friend of mine swears it's going in where Building 19 was, but it still has a sign "for lease" outside. I've also heard it might be going in Merrimack where the old Shaw's was. Things sure are moving slowly in southern NH!

Best Steak [Nashua area]?

Where can you get a good steak in the Nashua area? I've heard Buckleys in Merrimack is good but you can leave hungry with the portions.

Chipotle comes to 101A in Nashua

cringle22 you might be right, I just drove by there and it does look like another food place! I've never seen a stand alone Chipotle(just the one on DW Hway), so I don't know how big they can be, but the sign looks like room for something else. Hopefully something yummy!

Chipotle comes to 101A in Nashua

Are you referring to the old Bickfords? I think the whole place is going to be Chipotle. They were supposed to open yesterday but the opening got pushed to January for some reason.

Restaurants at the Merrimack Outlets?

Has anyone heard what restaurants will be going in the new Merrimack outlets? They open in June so they should be announcing soon. Hopefully they will be something new to the area not repeats of others we already have. On another note, rumor is Bahama Breeze is moving into the old On the Border by the Pheasant Lane Mall.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

We tried Crush when it first opened and we had been very disappointed with the service and the pizzas. However, we decided to give them a second shot and visited them last week. Unfortunately, the pizza was soggy and the prosciutto was raw and actually chilly to the touch. The service was even worse than before, in the middle of ordering our server giggled and abruptly walked away and went over to see one of the the other servers phones. They both were obviously looking at a text or photo, but no apology when she came back. The couple behind us walked out grumbling about service. People have varying tastes and there is always those who will like a particular restaurant but most will not put up with extremely poor, rude service. I will instead visit Angela's Coal Fired Pizzeria in Tyngsboro if I want special pizza.
