puff pastry

I know that you asked for ready made. However, the following recipe doesn't seem too hard and doesn't use as unhealthy ingredients as commercial puff pastry.

Pesach Vegetarian Soup Ideas

You might have to make your own vegetarian soup bases because the vegetarian soup base mix that I have seen (Streit's) is loaded with sodium. You can also use a carrot juice (if you have a juicer). base for some soups. To achieve soup creaminess you can blend cashews or cashew butter. A good source of recipes that you can adapt are the soup recipes on Dr. Joel Fuhrman's website http://www.drfuhrman.com/ or in his books.

The OU has a different position on kitnyiot than the Star K or the CRC. I find that the OU is more liberal than some of the other kashrut agencies regarding what is not considered kitnyiot.

Spices for Passover: My first year without It's Delish

Pereg has a website http://www.pereg-spices.com/

If you call them, they may ship. Other companies that have Passover spices are Gefen, Lieber's, and Haddar.

Quinoa For Passover 2014

No one denies how much easier it is to find Kosher for Passover food than it once was. If people are happier because there are more food choices so be it. The fact there are some healthier Passover food choices such as quinoa, chia seed, and flax seed (http://kosherquest.org/magazine_flip/) available can be a a good thing.

Quinoa For Passover 2014

There are additional food items that may not be considered kitnyiot, but can not be found with reliable KFP certification. One of the reasons that there was an issue with quinoa had to do with it being processed in the same area as chometz grains. This is the same reason that you won't find KFP amaranth, another grain like substance.

Pesach Price Gouging

The way to partially avoid overpaying is to find out which products do not need to be under Kosher for Passover supervision. For example, if you check most of the major Kashrut organizations guides, you will see that most raw nuts can be bought before Passover and used for Passover. You may not need to buy Klein's brand nuts or buy from Oh Nuts. I realize that most products need to be under supervision, but you can save money on the other items.

Stick margarine for pesach this year?

According to the OU Passover guide, Mother's has stick margarine KFP.

Has anyone found KP Quinoa??

You can also contact Pereg. Their quinoa is KFP in stores. They can probably tell you where to buy their quinoa or sell to you directly.

Kosher For Passover Kitnyiot

The irony is that in Israel it is somewhat challenging to find non kitnyiot Passover products, while in the US it was somewhat challenging to find properly certified KFP kitnyiot products.

Has anyone found KP Quinoa??

I have also seen the Streit's KFP quinoa in Whole Foods in NY. It was easy last year because Ancient Harvest was KFP and allowed you to order from their site.

The Star K wrote the following about their certified companies for Passover quinoa:
Retail Pack

Setton Farms 12 oz container, STAR-K-P required.

Natural Earth Products 16 oz box, STAR-K-P required.

STAR-K certified quinoa will be available at kosher grocery stores throughout the U.S., select Shoprite stores, and online. Stores can also order from Quality Frozen Foods 718-256-9100.

Kosher For Passover Kitnyiot

The OU does not have an OU-P on kitnyiot products to hopefully make it less confusing.

Kosher For Passover Kitnyiot

This year there is a company called Kitny (or Kitne) that has Kosher for Passover Kinyiot products under OU supervision. They have rice cakes, peanut butter, popcorn, techina, chickpeas, and corn kosher for Passover. I think that they may be a division of Manishewitz.

Has anyone found KP Quinoa??

Streits has Kaf-KP quinoa, which is prewashed, that I have seen at Fairway in NY.

Pereg & Setton Farms are supposed to also have it under OU supervision. I haven't seen the last two as of yesterday.

Quinoa For Passover 2014

I contacted Ancient Harvest. They did not have a KFP production this year. The Star K appears to only be supervising Setton Farms and Natural Earth Products for retail use.

Quinoa For Passover 2014

This year the OU has accepted quinoa as being acceptable for Passover for Ashkenazim (non kitnyiot) with reliable Kosher for Passover supervision (it is often processed in the same warehouses as chometz grains). In addition, they are also accepting two other grain like substances, canihua and kiwichia with reliable KFP supervision. Unfortunately, Ancient Harvest quinoa will not be kosher for Passover this year like it was last year.

almond flour cake recipe

I know that you are looking for an almond flour recipe for Passover. I have made Passover cakes by grinding quinoa to make flour. Another option available for this year will be kosher for Passover amaranth, which can also be ground into flour.

I enjoyed the newer entries into the chumus market. I don't recall the name of the company that had healthier versions of chumus containing lentils or black beans.

The Israeli vendors did not have anything unexpected. I guess that I would like to see Israeli food companies to think out of the box and not to just have the typical Israeli food products that we are used to seeing.

I was at the Fancy Food Show today. It was impressive to see that many companies that had kosher products, indicated this as part of their display. It shows how important the kosher segment has become in the food industry.

ideas for vegan passover without lentils?

You may want to try using the regular recipes in the books by either Dr.Joel Fuhrman (http://www.drfuhrman.com) or Dr. Neal Barnard (http://nealbarnard.org/). You could substitute quinoa for grains and just avoid the legume recipes (if you don't eat kitnyiot).
