Small Lunch on a Sunday in St. Germain after a Paris by Mouth food tour

Next weekend we will be in Paris and we have booked a Paris by Mouth food tour “Left Bank” on Sunday which will finish around 2 pm somewhere around St Germain Church. As we will probably have nibbled quite a bit of cheese, bread, charcuterie and pastry there will definitely be no space left for a normal 3 course lunch. On a different day I would most probably skip lunch altogether and go for an earlier dinner. But we fly back home the same day, have to be on the RER around 3.30h (hotel is just 10 min away) and will only get a small sandwich for the rest of the day. So we would like to have a warm meal at least once a day. We are looking for a place for a small warm lunch on a Sunday in walking distance of St. Germain Church. Unfortunately, we have no time to wait in line and lunch should be over in approx. 1 hour. Of course, there is an abundance of restaurants in St. Germain but I am afraid of ending up in a tourist trap and would like to end our Paris trip with good food.
I have searched the forum and came up with the following ideas:
Having a crepe at Little Breizh. But there is conflicting information on the internet whether it is open on Sunday. If so, will it be possible to walk in at 2pm and get a seat or will I need a reservation if they take any?
Having some small plates at L´Avant Comptoir. Feasible to walk in at 2pm on a Sunday and not having to wait too long?
From Parnassien´s recommendation I wrote down Point Bulles some time ago, they have a jazz brunch on Sunday until 3pm. Ending our trip with some jazz and champagne is tempting. But it is not cheap, it is worth the price? Probably needs to be reserverd ahead, too?
Any thoughts about these places or better ideas??

Mme Mangeur´s review is spot on! We went to Roseval on a still warm Friday night last autumn and loved the place. The first reward is that you have to leave Tourist Central and venture out to an area which is still a little bit scruffy but gives you a feel of real Parisian life. Roseval is on a nice little place with a church and on this still warm evening the windows were open and gave a look to the opposite bar which was full of young people joyfully but peacefully celebrating life outside. We were greeted and seated next to the stairs to the cellar from where a slight air of mold and crypt was coming up and my husband gave me his “where on earth did you drag me” look and I got a bit unsure whether the decision to come here was so good after all…
The other diners were mostly French, two tables were occupied by Americans and there were two Italian tables. Simone Tondo came out of his tiny kitchen to greet them and explained the menu in Italian which was also helpful to us as my Italian is much better than my French.
The food was interesting and good (panna cotta dessert) to very good (vegetable soup, raw fish starter) the main, which was pigeon, was excellent. But the wines were the star of the evening. The sommelier was very friendly and enthusiastic and patiently explained each wine in detail and why it had been chosen. The pairings were ununsal but absolutely great, as they complemented nuances of the sauce and the food nearly perfectly. The wines really let the food shine and we enjoyed the evening tremendously. The slightly rotten smell was forgotten the minute the dinner started...
We will be back! If you enjoy great combinations of food and wine we think this is place to cross town for.

Dans les landes

I know that Julien Doboué has sold Dans les landes and is going to open a new restaurant called A Noste in september.
But what happened to the old Dans les landes? The website still shows the old tapas menu and says "open all august". So does Dans les landes still exist with the old menu and part of the old crew?

Pierre Sang Boyer Question

We will be in Paris in January and really would like to have lunch at Pierre Sang Boyer on a Friday. I am a bit worried about their no reservation policy. Normally, I would not mind waiting outside on the sidewalk with an nice glass of white in the hand, but not in January....., at least not for 30 min or more.
I have read the best strategy is to be there at 12.00h sharp when they open but we find that a bit early for lunch. John Talbott wrote in his blog that there were empty seats again at 1.30h, this sounds much better.
Anybody been there recently for lunch? Still a long queue outside to get in or are things more relaxed nowadays for a weekday lunch? Is the 1.30h alternative worth taking the risk or do we really have to go for 12.00h?

What happens with Le Gaigne?

We discovered Le Gaigne in the 4th in the beginning of 2012 and loved especially theír tasting menu with corresponding wines. In 2012 we had two very good meals there. In January 2013, however, we were slightly disappointed as our meal was quite boring, so we did not come back during our last visit in May. Planning our forthcoming trip in autumn I have just looked at their website and found out- much to my surprise- that Le Gaigne will be closed from the 28th July. It says they plan to reopen another "Gaigne" sometime someplace but no details.
Does anybody have any idea what happened und what is planned?

How far in advance can I reserve?

Hi manouche and John,

of course, nothing is wrong with reserving quite far in advance! But during the preparation for my previous trips to Paris I learned that many restaurants don´t accept reservations so far in advance. Some will tell you to call again a month, others 4 or 3 weeks before the desired date. So this involves a lot of phone calls and understanding the rapid French answers on the phone can be quite a task for a non native speaker. That was why I thought I could make life a bit easier for me by asking whether fellow chowhounds might have some experiece when to reserve. Apparently, nobody knows, so I have to go on calling. Well, at least good practice for my French!

Pentecost Monday

We are going to Paris for an extended weekend during Pentecost.
I had my food itinerary completely ready when I learned that on Pentecost Monday some restaurants which are usally open on Monday will be closed. In our case this was La Regalade St. Honrore which I shifted to Friday dinner instead.
Now I would like your thoughts about lunch on Pentecost Monday, please!
Our itinerary so far:
Friday dinner: La Regalade St. Honore
Saturday lunch: Le Galopin
Saturday dinner: Le Gaigne
Sunday lunch: picnic (weather permitting) or light bite in the Marais
Sunday evening: Chatomat
Monday lunch:???????
We have checked our list of places to go and came up with the following options, which would all somehow fit in our culture/walking itinerary for Monday:
Mini palais (Attracted to the beautiful terrace if the weather is fine)
Axuria (Basque and Fish)
What would you recommend?What would the best addition to our list? Any thoughts?
I know that usually for Monday you will be recommended Saturne and Neva on this board.
We are not particulary attracted by Saturne, which gets quite mixed reviews lately, and we already have with Le Galopin and Chatomat young chefs on our list who do modern French cuisine with a bit of an experimental twist (At least that what I hope for.....)
All we have heard about Neva sounds great and it is absolutely on our to do list for a future visit to Paris but this time its location does just not really fit in our plans.

The fork or toptable?

I am planning our visit to Paris in january and with the help of all the reviews and tipps from chowhounders on this side we have already sorted out our restaurant list.

There are two websides "toptable" and "the fork" which I could use to book some of the restaurants which would be so much easier for me than trying to phone or email them with my somewhat limited French. Are these sides reliable? Is one preferable to the other? Or is it better to go on trying to reserve on my own or maybe ask the concierge of our hotel to do it?
