Good Coffee Near Pine Street?

Any good coffee shops within walking distance of Paramount Hotel/Pine St., Seattle?
['Good' is always subjective, but looking for Arabica based shop , not Robusta]

Thanks

B & J Vermonty Python Ice Cream Recipe??

When Ben & Jerry deleted Vermonty Python from their line up, someone in their organization should have taken the walk of shame.

Immensely popular, this mix of 'Coffee liquer flavored ice cream with chocolate chunks and a streak of chocolate crumb mix' is sorely missed.

Anyone attempted to emulate it at home & come up with a recipe??

I have a new Ice Cream Maker & would like to crank out a passable likeness.

Thanks

Help No Reservations Episode

I can vaguely recall a South American episode where there was B. & 2 cowboy gentlemen, out in the middle of nowhere eating over a campfire.
Given the language difficulties they were imbibing, often, probably as a means of communication & then they decided to go walk on a glacier.
Which seemed to be foreign to all of them.
Did not have the most appropriate footwear but by then pretty wasted.

I think the rough hewn gentlemen may have been 'gauchos', or semblances thereof, which probably narrows that episode down to Brazil, Argentina, parts of Chile, Uruguay, maybe Bolivia.
Patagonia??

Marmite Shortage Shakes New Zealanders

Darn, I wish I had brought a bigger pot back with me last trip over.
Interestingly, a lot of Marmite consumers won't touch the Australian Vegemite with a 40 foot barge pole.
& vice versa.

'Idiot Abroad' and food.

Thoroughly enjoying the series.

Can't figure out yet if the lead chap is a brilliant actor or WYSIWYG.

The most recent episode where he is on his way to hug gorillas in Uganda but gets diverted into a tribal village somewhere in South Africa?, & has to put on lunch for the village Chief & his entourage - ends up doing cheese on toast with baked beans, & the Chief asks 'where's the meat??. Hilarious.

If you are into Brit humor this series is a 'don't miss'

Anne Thornton Axed

According to the NY Post this morning:

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/th...

Food Network have axed the show, ostensibly for recipe plagiarism.

Not familiar with the show or demise circumstances, but in the 'nothing is new under the sun' vein, it must be tricky for Chefs to come up with 'fresh' recipes all the time.

Interesting.

Nigella Lawson Roast Potato Recipe??

May not be correct Board, but will start here - Caught the back end of one of her shows earlier this week & she was preparing roast potatoes.

Into the roasting pan, (I think), went chopped potatoes, sliced red onion, sliced tomatoes, sliced lemons & whole garlic cloves.
Distracted, missed fine detail.
Remember she said was going to hit it with heat as didn't want them to braise.

Have not been able to find the actual recipe anywhere.

Would appreciate it if someone can point me to it.
Thank you

Bitchin' Kitchen - Are they kidding???

One of the TV show schedules, (I can't remember which), has the program categorized as 'Comedy'!!
Which is somewhat of a disservice to her.
When you get past the OTT persona stuff, some of the food is quite good.
Plus its fascinating seeing how her nail polish always color coordinates with the wall colors.
Looks like they put a lot of thought into the decor.
We enjoy the program for what it is.

Location of Orlando Food Trucks Evening of Sunday 1/8/12??

Trying to find location of The Crooked Spoon tomorrow evening, 1/8.

Also, via:

http://www.thedailycity.com/p/top-ten...

note that there are at least 2 'events' or Food Truck gatherings, 1/8.

5-8pm a Food Truck Bazaar at Fashion Square Mall
&
Daily 24/7: Winter Park Food Truck Stop, 1127 N. Orlando Ave.

Anyone know which trucks will be at which location in the early evening??

Thank you

I thought at the time it was an odd activity in the flow of things. They're wandering along & suddenly they're out rowing. Not sure why & I think he was of the same thought.
Why?

Then there was the visit to that Vegetarian island place where I think he ended up begrudgingly settling for a ham & cheese sandwich. (or was that Amsterdam?, the memory is not what it was or the scene was not that memorable,) but he came across as decidedly p-d with where he was.
One can't help but feel sorry for the poor local 'escort' who has to accompany him to somewhere he patently does not want to be.

Why Yelp Sucks!

I have read in several places that Yelp approaches Restaurants that are being reviewed & for payment will run filters that perhaps take out the less favorable reviews.

NR was far more interesting.

It's almost as if they had a production meeting & said, 'we have no budget for NR' so we're going to stick you on a plane & keep you flying from place to place .
Shoot 36 hrs around each airport & keep you going, so he gets in tired & lagged , goes out the same.

& he said, 'fine, whatever'

L comes over like he's in there on a 'fine, whatever' basis.

I may be way off, but in watching the series so far have wondered if there are paid advertisements running in there.
ie, some places he actually visits, some he mentions as a 'you might want to try this place', followed by someone from the mentioned restaurant/cafe' talking up their menu or food style.
Enjoyed NR more.
