Is Hen of the Wood closed??!

I did some research, and apparently they are doing renovations until Dec 1. Sorry to sound the alarm!

Is Hen of the Wood closed??!

Please say it isn't so.... Their phone number isn't working. I'm planning to visit from out of town and I was calling to make a reservation. I sincerely hope they haven't closed, whether as a result of Irene or otherwise.

when is Chez Albert in Amherst reopening?

What specifically do you recommend there? Nothing on their menu really jumped out at me (and I know descriptions can often under- and over-sell so it's never a great way to decide on a restaurant).

Does anyone know? Their website had said end of the month (August) but just today I tried the site and it wouldn't load due to bandwidth issues and their phone was disconnected. Also, where exactly is the new location? Thanks!!

Williamstown Restaurants

Mezze on Route 7. Casual in that you can wear jeans, no jacket required, that sort of thing. Apps are around 10 to 15, entrees in the 20s and 30s if I remember correctly. We last ate here on the 4th of July and the restaurant was very quiet but the food was really excellent. An inventive appetizer of house pickled sardines served with a broccoli salad was one of the stand outs. Cocktails and wine list are appealing and well chosen. It's classy and comfortable. Perfect, in my opinion, for a bite after the Clark.

Mac n' Cheese

What about Bukowski's in Inman Square? I like their Mac n Cheese (good, al dente pasta) and of course the beer options are many and varied.

Seafood - East Coast Grill or Neptune?

While I couldn't promise that they have it all of the time, I was certainly able to get it during regular, non-hell-night, dinners. It is good; homemade, and much more complex than other pepper vodkas I've had. Quite seriously spicy though.

Seafood - East Coast Grill or Neptune?

Can't speak to Neptune, but this is very true about ECG. But it can be a real asset, just maybe get a handle on whether you feel like exclusively eating seafood.

Personal favorites from the menu: the oysters (both fried and raw and the half shell), the French Connection (half dozen shucked oysters and a mildly spicy, deelish sausage), the #1 Tuna appetizer (kind of a cross between a tartar and a poke, nicely spiced), the fried plantains.

To drink, try the specialty martini made with habanero infused vodka (or ask for half spiced vodka / half plain if you want more of a medium heat quotient).

Suggestions for dinner in Somerville/Arlington/Cambridge/etc.

For good pizza in East Arlington, go to Za. It's right on Mass Ave and the pizzas and salads are great. The designer pizzas are quite nice, and you can take the standard tomato sauce and cheese and pick your own toppings from among a jazzed up assortment (including the likes of bread and butter jalepenos, chorizo, homemade sausage, roasted garlic, and pickled peppers) which works great when picky eaters are in tow.

frasca at straight wharf in nantucket

Does anyone have any comments on this restaurant from a recent trip? I'd love to hear anything, whether before or after chef frasca's start. Thanks!
