Best BBQ in Westchester?

Thanks for the tip. Will try it!

Best BBQ in Westchester?

First post in this thread. I'm also looking for true bbq in Westchester. And I hate to say it, but I also have to echo the thumbs down on Memphis Mae's in Croton - just not very good ... gave it more than one try. I also agree that Q in Port Chester is very inconsistent, but if you hit it on a good night, it's very good. There is a new place that opened on Central Ave in Scarsdale, DNA Smokehouse, that I haven't tried yet. Far as the city is concerned, Bluesmoke is the best I've had there followed by Hill Country. Daisy Mae's isn't bad either. Also, Williamsburg has Fette Sau but their menu changes and you don't know whether they're going to have what you want that day until you show up - also long lines. Nearby in Williamsburg is Mabel's Smokehouse which is as close to consistenly excellent as I've had with the possble exception of Smokin Al's in Massapequa on LI.

There is also a place called Bobby Q's in Westport CT that is decent. Still waiting for one in Westchester.

Good First Date Place in Ridgefield/Danbury Area

Can anyone suggest a moderately priced restaurant with a bar where we can start by having a drink at the bar and then sit down to dinner ... where the noise level isn't too high? TIA.

Bars, Lounges, Pubs likely to find over 40 clientele

I'm going to reopen a topic that I found on here back in 2010, but wanted to see what folks think in 2013. Looking for bars, lounges, pubs ... where one would be more likely to find an over 40 crowd. Can be loungy, but could also be less fancy bars. Don't care about which neighborhood ... could be UWS, UES, Midtown, Village, SoHo, etc. As long as one might find such a crowd there on Friday/Saturday nights. TIA.

Thoughts?

First Date on UWS

I hear ya. I thought Wine and Roses was a little quieter. But didn't want to spend the entire evening ducking into and out of places ... if you know what I mean. Thanks again!

Interesting. I wanted to get to Wine and Roses, but she suggested Riposo. It's ok, just had to speak up a bit. I just prefer first dates in a more quite intimate atmosphere. Thanks again.

First Date on UWS

So started out at Bin 71 - much too noisy. Checked Cafe Talluleh - private party downstairs so ended up at Riposo 72. Still very very noisy - had to shout across the table at one another. But couldn't go on looking for places the entire night. Thanks everyone.

BTW, flatbread at Riposo not bad.

First Date on UWS

Agreed. But if we want to sit down and there is a long wait for a table at Bin71 or Wine and Roses, Arte Cafe (and others) have openings for tables as we speak and we can always just walk over there.

Thank you. I'm guessing you wouldn't have had an issue being taken to a place called "Wine and Roses" on a 1st date ... as someone else on Yelp kinda said?

First Date on UWS

Stuggling with this. Sat night first date on UWS. Want a place with a bar and tables to sit down afterwards if it goes well. Also want avg or lower noise level and moderate pricing (doesn't have to be inexpensive but don't want expensive either). Have been to Arte (and may end up back there) but tends to be noisy. Reviews show Cava as noisy. Cesca too expensive. Fish Tag just doesn't seem to have first date vibe. Spiga? Tangled Vine? Tolani? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Cape Cod Restaurant Recommendations

Had dinner at Fin's last night. Relatively upscale, quiet ... high quality. But very very limited menu. Had flounder which was very good. But no lobster, no lobster bisque ,and no NE clam chowder on the menu. Also had lunch today at Sesuit. Hassle getting into the parking lot, but eventually got in. Then 20 or so minute wait. Top notch lobster roll and lobster bisque wasn't bad either. Also, tried Cape Cod Creamery, Katies in Hyannis, and Sundae School in Dennis Port. I think the best quality might have been at Cape Cod Creamery, although I didn't care for the flavors very much - how can you spoil Chocolate Ice cream by adding Cinammon to it! I think I enjoyed Sundae School the best, although Katie's certainly wasn't bad.

Cape Cod Restaurant Recommendations

Thank you. Ended up having dinner at http://www.nantucketlobstertrap.com/ . Very good value (compared to NYC area) for a 2 pounder and maybe the best Sweet Potato fries I've ever had.

Would love a few recommendations on Nantucket, near the Ferry if possible!

Cape Cod Restaurant Recommendations

Thanks.

Tried Roadhouse in Hyannis tonight. Excellent NE Chowder, Salad, and Blackened Swordfish. Definitely high quality. Was pretty empty too. I get the feeling that the crowds have peaked.

Cape Cod Restaurant Recommendations

Hi ... visiting the Cape this week for the first time since I was a child. Looking for recommendations on restaurants I shouldn't miss. Primarily looking for moderate to expensive, but if there's an unbelievable clam bar or roadside stand would love to know about that also.

Staying in the South Yarmouth area, so prefer Hyannis, Barnstable, Harwich, Chatham, Brewster area ... but will travel if worth it. Also interested in one or two on Nantucket.

Interested primarily in seafood and lobster, but might also try other cuisines.

Thanks in advance.

Date Place on UWS

Thanks again, everyone. Went to Lisca. Not much of a bar there to wait at. Food was very good, service was good, but the entire place was rather empty (Monday night?). I was looking for something quiet, but maybe not this quiet, LOL. Still, it did the trick. Although after 9:30PM, it appeared that they actually started turning the heat down, which turned the food on our plates cold. And right after 10, they started taking things off the table and they started to turn the lights out, even though we were still talking. Place closes at 10:30 and I guess they wanted us out of there. But still ...

All in all, not a bad experience and not a bad place for a first date when you want to be able to hear each other.

Date Place on UWS

Thanks to everyone for replying - really appreciate you all taking the time. I narrowed it down to Lisca, Tolani, and Fish Tag. All had Yelp reviews that mentioned them being good date places. Ended up picking Lisca ... although I'm beginning to wonder whether I would have been better off with one of the others (just that Tolani ... as nice as it looks has a limited menu). Thanks again. Will try to remember to let you know how it went.

Date Place on UWS

Thank you everyone. In looking at the menus for Telepan and Cesca, they seem a bit high in price. I guess I should have mentioned that it's a first date. My bad.

Date Place on UWS

Looking for a restaurant (preferably with a bar) that doesn't have to be quiet, but where the noise levels aren't too high (for first date). Also open to "loungy" bar for a drink followed by dinner (but would still like the dinner restaurant to not be noisy). Seems like every wine bar on the UWS is noisy according to reviews. Been to Arte Cafe which I love but it's very noisy. As I remember, Citrus is also noisy.

Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

First Date Spot on UWS or Midtown East

Yes for both. I mean ... I'm a little flexible. But roughly $100 for two not including tip maybe. Less if possible. There is a nice little Italian place (I believe on 56th called Montebello that I was considering) that is not very noisy. I wasn't including wine either.

Thanks. Hmmm. Not sure. Maybe around $80-$100 for two? At most?

Lighthouse Ice Cream in Tarrytown

I tried it and was not impressed - with the quality nor with the quantity. I've tasted much much better homemade ice cream. Not worth going back.

First Date Spot on UWS or Midtown East

Looking for a moderately priced place with a bar (for a drink first) and then tables for a meal ... for a date on UWS or Midtown East. Key is noise level being low/moderate (not loud please), and possibility of corner table (or table for four given to a party of two so I can sit next to her rather than across from her). Can be Italian, Continental, Wine Bar, Nice pub. Just need menu to offer seafood and/or salads.

Thanks.

Moderately Priced Italian or American in Midtown East

Hi ... I need a moderately priced American or Italian restaurant in the 50s where the noise level is reasonable so I can have a conversation with someone without screaming or asking them to repeat what they just said. I was going to go with Pescatore, but it's often crowded, noisy and has tables close together. Am thinking Montebello. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
