Kitchen Tool you had an 'a ha' moment with ...... I had a revelation that I didn't need a whole ice cream maker, just a freezer bowl. It's faster, easier to clean, and doesn't create kitchen clutter. Here's a video of making ice cream just in a freezer bowl (and the well-loved immersion blender makes an appearance, too--that was another Aha! moment for me): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAwLYG... |

Kitchen Tool you had an 'a ha' moment with ...... Vintage Swing A Way can openers are great. They last for decades. Ours is probably from the 1960s and still going strong. |

I sell vintage kitchenwares online, and have come across lots of Silverstone. I've wondered the same thing myself, and would be interested if anyone else has more info about it. |

How many different knives do you use daily ? I use one knife for everything. It's a 5" Henckels Eversharp serrated utility knife. I paid $7.99 for it on Amazon, it comes with a lifetime warranty (which Henckels will actually make good on). We had to buy two of them because fights would break out in the kitchen over it. |

I use just the freezer bowl from a Donvier ice cream maker, and I mix it with a wood spatula. It works well, and I can just keep the bowl in my freezer without having a bunch of other random parts clogging up my kitchen cupboards. Sometimes you can find Donvier freezer bowls on eBay or elsewhere online. |

Are you a Label snob when it comes to cookware?? Definitely not a label snob here, but I like quality vintage kitchen items, because I know they'll last. None of my pans match, but they're all wonderful. |

Microwave Oven - Is it possible to get one without a turntable? I'd try to find another vintage one if you liked the one you had. Some of the Sharp Half Pints didn't have a turntable. They're very compact, though. |

I'm partial to the vintage Flint Arrowhead spatula (the style with the shorter handle) myself, and have two of them so my husband and I wouldn't fight over who got to use it. They made them in the 1950s and possibly into the 1960s. You can find them on Etsy. |

Do You Own a VENT A HOOD Exhaust Hood Over Your Stove?? We have an old school vintage NuTone exhaust fan like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuc4MV... I found the one in the video in at neighborhood Dumpster day, and it sold within a week online. People keep emailing me to see if I have another one (I don't), but I think it's funny that this is such a hot item. It works well, and is easy to clean. It just goes into the wall above the stove. Not much to it, really, and ours is original to our 1949 house. There's something to be said for a durable workhorse like that. |

What to do with Saladmaster cookware? We have some similar cookware I picked up at a garage sale. It's very durable and cooks well, I think. |

Any good panini press/waffle iron combos out there? Have you ever tried just making the panini in the waffle iron? It would have squares in stead of lines, but it might work, and would be worth a try. A Belgian waffle maker would probably have holes too deep, but a regular one might do the trick. |

a rice cooker that seemingly is burning the rice I have the best success cooking rice in a vintage Mirro aluminum pressure cooker, using 3/4 the amount of water originally called for. I never am disappointed with the results. |
