Petit Robert III
Today's Herald (aka "the easy reader") reports that Jacky Robert & Co. are 99% sure they will be opening their third location in the old Meze space. I think they have a great concept, very good food at a reasonable price point. I hope they do well in Charlestown.
A Chicago Chowhounder Reports Back on His Boston/P-Town Trip
That is one of the most thoughtful, detailed, follow-up posts on this board EVER. Thank you very much for taking the time and showing your appreciation. Your hard work and research on these boards worked. I'm glad you had a great visit, you earned it.
LOoking for an attractive waitstaff AND good food?
No, it sounds wittlejosh was right. The OP wants eye candy.
Sometimes a girl just wants to eat alone...
I third B&G, one of my favorite spots to dine alone at the bar in the city. LOVE it.

You're SO right about the loser guys at Mistral with their wedding rings in their pockets who don't take no for an answer. Cross Mistral off your list.
Cocktails, etc. in South End near Tremont/SoWa?
I strongly second sailor's recommendations. The bartending at #9 is the best in the city.
first time chow hound in boston looking for truffle dishes
I'm pretty sure the lobster gnocchi w/peas @ #9 has truffles in it. GREAT dish and fabulous bartending.
O-Ya last night WOW!!
I also share your concern about the lack of consisistent #'s and wonder if Boston can support this type of place.
In my opinion the music not only "doesn't fit", it's awful.
One night in Boston
I'd walk to the South End and go to The Butcher Shop for wine and cheese, then to B&G Oyster for dinner.
Butcher for prime rib?
I'm not sure what is more convenient, but here are a few options;
#1- Butcher Boy in North Andover.
#2- Butcher Shop in the South End.
#3- I would think that if you wander around the North End you could find one of the many Butchers open on a Sunday.
Wellfleet Oyster Festival
Highlights for me last year were great weather, great bands, beer, people were in a great mood and eating some of the best shellfish in the world.
I went for a chilly swim @ Marconi (55 degrees) on Friday and had a blast at the 70's disco party on Friday night. Festival weekend is the equivalent of Homecoming weekend for everyone who has come to love and appreciate Wellfleet and the National Seashore.

Meyers+Chang? What's the Word?
Thanks for a great post. I'm definitely going to try this place soon.
Locke-Ober...Drinks & App's in the Bar or Dinner?
I agree, Kara is awesome and sometimes I go to the bar just for that blue cheese-stuffed shrimp!!! Glad you had a nice night.
Meyers+Chang? What's the Word?
I stopped in last night to check the place out and grab a to-go menu. Decent looking space w/maybe 8 barstools. It's a little gritty with the bus station out front. The place was bustling, and the few neighbors I spoke with who were dining raved about their food. I like the menu a lot and wish them well.

No delivery yet, but coming soon.
Donna's Cakes?
Maybe the soulless Red Sox need a cake that says "Have some heart, you haven't made the playoffs yet"..... I'm calling Donna.
Four Nights in Boston...
I'm pretty sure it was Papelbon with Papi in their lamborghinis. I met a buddy for dinner at the bar there about a month ago and is was perfectly fine. We met at 6:30 and the "scene" started developing as we departed at 8.
South end / biz lunch w/some intimacy
My first choice for business lunches in the South End is a booth at Aquitane. It's one of the most private options in a nice environment with good food and good service.
Toronto Hound Visiting Boston in November
Disagree. I've brought groups of 6-8 into Neptune(table by kitchen) and B&G(table in the window) and had a blast every time. I've been to both at least 10 times with a group. Great, friendly, attentive service and plenty of top-notch food to share. I've been consistently impressed with both places.
Toronto Hound Visiting Boston in November
"really standout seafood only places"
Neptune(North End)
B&G(South End)
DO NOT get caught in the Legal Seafood tourist trap.
Pops or Gaslight for a Bachelorette Dinner
Gaslight would be much more fun than Pops.
The greenhouse at Pops would be perfect if you wanted privacy to make toasts,...etc., and if you wanted to be secluded from everyone else.
I also agree with the Stella recommendation.
One more I would add to your research is Toro. Great atmosphere, vibe and food to share. There are 2 "high top" tables that could accomodate your group, and you'll have much more fun there than Pops. Toro would be my #1 choice, followed by the Beehive for cocktails and hell raising. Have fun, and tell the bachelorette that it's not too late to smarten up and back out!!!
PS- All of the South End recommendations in this thread are close enough to walk around and scout out ahead of time in one evening.
Does "Pub" just never = good food ?
I hear you man. I had a nice Shepard's pie @ JJ Foley's in the South End recently. Bartending is "old-school"(they say hi, introduce themselves and care) which I like a lot. It sounds like it will fit the bill for you. Other thoughts are Coda and Anchovies. Both have TV's and decent food. We'd need to check on Sunday hours before heading there to watch a game. Go Patriots.
