Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]
Last week I had a reservation at Gjelina for a party of four. In the afternoon our friends had to cancel so I called to modify the reservation and was told NOT TO COME. They did not have a 2 top to seat us at and they wouldn't waste a four top on the two of us. I was stunned. Is this the new MO for trendy restaurants. No concern for goodwill here. Is this the new standard?
ISO Great fresh Italian sausage in L.A. area
Domingo's Italian Deli in Encino on Ventura Bl. used to have wonderful Italian sausage. I have not bought it in many years but have great memories of it.
Cooking with fresh ginger
How about adding fresh ginger juice to mixed drinks? Sweetened a bit plus fresh lime juice add a punch to so many drinks, with or without alcohol. (try a ginger/lime margarita). Also ginger is a staple of Indian cooking. A great way to always have fresh ginger on hand is to cut your piece of ginger into 1/4 inch slices, place in a small jar and cover over the top with gin, or vodka, screw on the jar top and refrigerate. It will keep forever this way.

normally go to Cava, or Ca'Dario..we've tried just about all of the oldies (our son went to UCSB for 4+ years so we've been up there alot)
