Curly's Carolina Brick and Mortar in Round Rock

Like I said the brisket was this close to being dry. But with the sauce it was saved. If you go back I definitely recommend a sandwich. Their bread was excellent.

Haven't seen a post about this place. Went recently with the GF. We both really enjoyed the food.
I'm not going to lie $8 for a leg and thigh is a little steep but the leg was abnormally large. The fried chicken had a good crisp crust and a deep spicy flavor.
In comparison to Gus's which I found was so Tobasco heavy it became bitter and tasted burnt. The last few times I went to Lucy's I was beyond disappointed and won't return.

The meal was a two piece and two shared side dishes, hush puppies and mac and cheese with a dab of coleslaw. The slaw was excellent sweet with very good flavor, some of the best I've had. Hush puppies were also good, not too oniony. The mac and cheese was a disappointment. It's obvious the chef, who is a sweetheart, is making it in the trailer. IMO good mac and cheese needs to be baked, otherwise you just have wet noodles. I'd recommend taking it home and putting it in the oven.
Regarding the service it appeared to be a one woman operation when we went so I don't know how it works when it's busy. I don't have high expectations for trailers but based on my experience I'd recommend some patience and empathy to get you through without anger.

It was hot as the sun when we went so ate inside the Grackle. It was cool but smelled like smoke. It's not an optimal dining experience.
All and all I'd totally go back and I can highly recommend the chicken.

Guide To Ice Cream Shops In Austin Texas

Dolce Neve is pretty good. Get the lemon shortbread ice cream sandwich. It's very similar to Lick but the ice cream sandwich options are a nice change.

I actually had a burger and it was fine, not great but pretty good.

At first thought. I thought it was hot water cornbread. Basically pan fried cornbread my mom used to make. God I loved that stuff.

Southside Market Lamb Ribs

I've been many times and I don't recall any restrictions menu wise. They run a proper restaurant with no frills. Never had an issue getting a table. I'm sure I've had the mutton there but don't recall. HOnestly ribs are not great there. They make solid sausage and brisket although if you are used to top Austin places you'll be disappointed. Kinda sad, before Austin got all this killer BBQ this was a good option for North Austin people. Now it's just a distant also-ran. Plus I've been a little more hesitant to buy their stuff since the listeria outbreak but to be fair that was on the wholesale level not at the restaurant.

I have to edit my prior review. I held the banana pudding for a day and it was okay, not great. The bananas needed to age and the cookies needed to soak up pudding. I think they must be making them to order or earlier that day.

As I said previously I like the mac and cheese.

My GF had a pulled pork sandwich and fried okra. I tasted hers and it pretty good, but I'm not much of an okra fan.

Went there recently and I have a positive report. I Had the Sam Bass Shootout. The sandwich was properly sauced and not a total mess. The bread was quality. The sandwich is a mashup of sausage, brisket and bacon. The brisket is not the melt in your mouth product you get at the top tier BBQ in the area but it was fine. It wasn't dry and it had good smoke.I think imperfect brisket is best eaten in sandwich form, it hides all the flaws. The sides, hatch cornbread and fried green tomatoes, were solid and I would gladly eat again.
The only thing I had that wouldn't eat again was the banana pudding. The bananas unripe and hard and the cookies hadn't been properly deconstructed by the pudding. I do not like crunchy banana pudding.

Not exactly new but Ze Tejas or Jack Allen's Kitchen are good options. Barley Swine isn't cheap but isn't crazy, it's tapas though.
Could always do a trailer. If you like Pizza Via 313 is some of the best I've ever had.
Also you could do Garbo's for dinner. It's BYOB but if you like lobster you'd likely like it.

Been there several times. I like trying new places. Plus service wasn't as good the last time we went.

All the grocery stores sell them pre-roasted. Not cost effective but often very convenient.

Yes she got four lamb chops. They weren't massive but it was a good portion. It was just okay. Service was excellent. Probably didn't feel special enough for a birthday dinner. Assuming I'm still living in Austin next year it's back to the Carillion to have my socks knocked off.

NC so no Wegmans @slowcooked how would I get one of those open crate boxes? I doubt the post office would let me ship them that way.

Birthday coming up, Best French in town?

Went to Chez Nous. I did not enjoy charcuterie plate that much. The meats were good but I only liked half of the pates. At 16.50 I totally could have skipped it. I had the duck confit and my dining partner had the lamb chops. Once I mixed the duck with the fruit compote they served with it I really enjoyed it. We each got fried potato puff with our meals but two spheres of fried potato seemed needlessly skimpy. The highlight of the meal was the crepe, which we shared. It was light and appropriately spongey.
All and all I'd go back but skip the app. I'm eager to give Justine's a try for comparison.

A relative fell in love with them but they are on the east coast. Any ideas on getting them there? Can I just throw them in a zip loc and mail them.

I started the mistake auto correct. That said I like the sides. Mac and cheese with the beef rib is heaven.

Arro? Chez Nous? Justine's? LaV?

I should add I don't mind dressing up but I don't want to wear a tie and I don't drink so I don't give a damn about the wine list. Please advise .

I love the egg sandwich at 24 Hour Diner. The eggs and potatoes are always perfect. They changed how I cooked potatoes for breakfast.

You can't trust Styles's brisket. It's way too inconsistent. Part of the problem is they have brisket all day so if you go like after 6 p.m. you are eating shoe leather. But if I want good BBQ, air conditioning and no fuss it's my spot.

BBQ 512 used to be Chisholm Trail

Umm are we talking the Chisholm Trail in Lockhart? That place was always awful. The only people I know who like that place are locals who don't like the families who run the other three joints, which are all better.

Your hotel has excellent food in the bar, like really good. I can't recommend a dish because the SOBs are always updating the menu and whatever I had might not be on it but I've never had a bad meal there.

La BBQ for lunch. Line is long but not crazy long. You'll have food in an hour, probably less.
If you have the coin order ala carte breakfast at the Four Seasons.. Very good food. If you have Hill Country plans i think it's fair to say that the Original Salt Lick is worth a visit. It's a Disneyland for BBQ and it's actually good, not great. I've heard Opie's is good but I can't vouch for it. If I recall Mandola Winery is out there too and it was good for Italian food, better atmosphere than food.

Do Not go to the following: Kerby Lane, County Line.

Texas Monthly BBQ Festival 2014

I think Snow's is the only place worth buying a ticket for since getting out there and back could cost $100 if you even manage to get any food.
