Just ate lobster for the first time

i also thing that eventually, there was a limit imposed on the amount of lobster that could be fed to the prisoners because they had it so much it was akin to cruel and unusual.

Mistakes, I've made a few

well, i haven't made any tortilla yet, but i have to tell you, as far as dumpling skins go.....it was awesome. and i think it was only like $10.

i have this one.

and i feel like this might be my next mistake:

12 qt all clad pasta pot with the strainer insert. maybe now that i have a potfiller and a professional style range, I'll use it more. but it's huge, take a ton of water to fill and a ton of time to heat.

le creuset covered casserole that is only oven safe. total waste. the dutch ovens are way better and versatile.

Madeleine pan. used once.

someone gave me a spring form pan. still in the shrink wrap.

tortilla press....still on the fence. that one time i used it to make pot stickers was so worth it.

sausage stuffer for Kitchenaid. never used. luckily it was cheap.

havent used my mandolin yet either.

Pay by Check no more!

i find it's more the cashier that has a hard time with the check franking than the customer does with the check writing, although it would be nice if the payer didn't START filling out the check as soon as the total was announced. there are a few pieces of info that can be filled in before that!

Does Anyone Have A Recipe For Steak/Pork/Veal/Chicken Breast With Buffalo Sauce?

another not so clean but not terribly terribly dirty either is buffalo chicken quesadilla. put a couple chicken breasts in the crock (frozen or thawed) and 1/2 bottle give or take of franks hot sauce. cook on low for 4 hours. shred, put back in sauce. i add some celery here. then i make quesadilla with some of that mixture on corn tortilla with a bit of cheddar and reduced fat bleu cheese. the only thing with franks is it is salty for sure.

Does Anyone Have A Recipe For Steak/Pork/Veal/Chicken Breast With Buffalo Sauce?

last weekend i grilled chicken breasts. and then at the last minute i dipped em in some franks and butter and grilled the flavor on. it was quite good. not clean eating, but not the dirtiest either.

i've also made buffalo chicken or turkey burgers. i add some blue cheese to the burger or make a celery blue cheese slaw for the top.

Cuisinart DLC-5 vs DLC-8 "Pro-Custom 11" Food Processors.

i wouldn't be so sure about the eventual demise. mine is going very strong after more than a decade. it's a 7 cup (i think....maybe even 5), and i'd LOOOOVE a larger one. but i can't justify it, since mine is still working like charm. i'd go big....!

Just ate lobster for the first time

i totally disagree with having a lobster at an expensive resto. total ripoff. it's casual summer fare to me. and a little treat in the winter. friends, beer, shellfish (lobster, steamers.....), chowder. messy and i love eating it outside.

agreed. i don't use any butter, either. and i live in boston. head to the cape most weekend. lobster was dirt cheap the last couple years. it's still not prohibitive. it was so cheap and the shells so soft of the last few years, i'd get like 4 chicken lobsters in the morning for like $20 for some just for lobster salad. cuz really, who has leftover lobster? it's like leftover wine. total mythical creature.

Looking for a slow cooker Alfredo, without using a jar of pasta sauce.

i read the whole post. and what i think drongo might be saying, and i agree, is that you may not be able to replicate this in the slow cooker. what you make might be something tasty that flavor-wise approximates al alfredo if you turn your head to the side and squint, but it won't be al alfredo.

gazpacho??

ditto. and i puree everything but dice up a third cup or so of each most of the ingredients to throw in after so there's some texture.
i dice: celery, cuke, pepper, red onion. i use the sweet grape tomatoes, v8, a tiny clove of garlic, jalapeno, and a splash of vinegar.

Is anyone going to boycott Market Basket?

i get that he's considered a hero by many. but his actions directly contributed to the bankruptcies. he didn't pay them out of his pocket. if he had, the mill might not have closed.
