Boston recs

i know i've said this a million times, but as a person who never carries cash, it cannot be emphasized enough.....belle isle is cash only.

Nanina's in Fields Corner [moved from Boston]

i had a salad (string beans and egg!) last night too! my husband swooned. I live right in the neighborhood. they also sell minestrone, chicken escarole soup, and 1/2 pans of focaccia in addition to the dressing and meat sauce.

How do you deal with the compulsive need for everyone to like your food?

very little makes me happier than people enjoying my cooking and baking. so i get you in that regard. but excluding something from my repertoire because one person didn't rave.....not so much. although i am disappointed.

i try to know my audience, their palates, and their preferences. i do like to make people happy thru my cooking. which makes me happy. i'm a pleaser in general.....

VitaMix - Liquid diet ideas (smoothies, juices, protein powders, etc.)

i've used coconut water. it's 70 cals a cup and pretty much is indistinguishable from water in a smoothie.

Roche Bros. Downtown Crossing?

that takeout prepared food/salad bar section is a little cramped and chaotic, though. would you agree?

Roche Bros. Downtown Crossing?

less than zero, actually. you can't even get dropped off curbside. no traffic on that section of winter/summer street.

VitaMix Blender, is it worth it?

i've seen a lot of talk about "rotating your greens." may have to look into it.

VitaMix Blender, is it worth it?

slightly interesting turn of events. had my first check-up since my vmix purchase in october. i've been drinking a green smoothie daily since then. oddly enough, my iron levels are now too high. had a fasting blood test on tuesday. i'm guessing pounds of spinach (literally) a week probably has something to do with it.

Best Boston restaurants that are also great for kids

i took my 5 year old to a 2 hour dinner at gaslight. he ordered the 3 course prix fixe. it was great. we went on the earlier side, though.

also chinatown. just about anywhere is good for kids.

i asked the hostess. lasagne was fine. not a bit leftover. no one's head spun.

Anyone have experience with All-Clad's steamer?

yeah, i have the top part that fits into a few saucepans that i have.

our favorite is still the collapsible stainless vegetable one.

real men don't each quiche?

i don't know if this counts as a food stereotype, but when i put down my credit card at a restaurant, my husband is more often than not, given the bill folder when it comes back. He's also presented with the bill more often than i am. I'm a woman, btw.

can you post a link? i have their giant pasta pot with steamer insert and then their steamer insert for smaller sauce pans. the pasta pot is ridiculous. way too big and messy. the smaller sauce pan insert is so/so.
