Food and Drink in Salt Lake City and Park City for 5 days How was your visit and dining experience? I hope you had a great time! |

Food and Drink in Salt Lake City and Park City for 5 days I've never been to the Stein Ericksen bar, unfortunately. |

Food and Drink in Salt Lake City and Park City for 5 days I'd add Vinto to your PC restaurant list. I also love Butcher's Chophouse for apres ski drinks and appetizers. Tarahumara - It's good food and it might be fun for you to see a little bit more of the area. The Heber Valley/Midway area is gorgeous....but it's where I live so I'm biased ;-) Tip - sit on the cantina side if everyone in your party is over 21. Sometimes the main restaurant side can have a "Chuck-e-cheese" feel (so many kids!). Don't order the Corona bottle bucket! The bottles are tiny. They have Dos Equis on tap, get a pitcher. High West - I love their cocktails! I'm not a huge fan of Squatter's Park City location, I much prefer the SLC one. I am a fan of the Wasatch Brew Pub. I usually sit upstairs. The No Name Saloon is really fun. I always get the buffalo burger. The last time I was at St. Regis I felt the service was lacking. That was a year ago, however. I hope you have a fantastic time! |

I like to pop in there for lunch, it's decent Mexican food in my opinion. I used to enjoy it more before they changed ownership a few years ago. It still has a very strong following and is very popular. I checked out a new-ish place on Main Street last week, the Blue Iguana. I liked it very much. It is a sit down restaurant however so it'll be more expensive than El Chubasco. |

High end restaurant near or in Park City for Friday! I've always heard the very best things about this and it's my goal to try it. I'm sorry I can't speak about it first hand. I've also heard things about the Mariposa, as was suggested. Stay away from the J&G Grill at the St. Regis. I've tried it twice and it just isn't up to it's reputation. Have fun in PC! |

Recent recommendations in Ogden, UT? I love the Two Bit Cafe on 25th street. Welcome to Utah! |

Thank you! |

Salt Lake City eats, are these worthwhile? I'm glad you had a mostly good experiences! I confess to not having been to any of those places. I know I'm only 30 minutes away from SLC but I rarely go down. Now I have a solid rec list! Thanks thejavuar! :-) |

Dartmouth, MA/Boston/Cuttyhunk :-D Thanks yumyum! |

In August or September I'll be flying into Boston or Providence. After two days in Boston we're headed to Dartmouth, MA then to Cuttyhunk. Any "must goes"? I will also do searches to see what others have recommended recently. I love casual, hole in the wall local places. If it's delicious but is served in a basket lined with newspaper I'm game. Dives are fine and I love drinking beer and chatting with locals. I love seafood of all kinds but have never had lobster, only crab. From some initial research I've learned Cuttyhunk doesn't have much in the way of restaurants but I have friends on the island (hence the reason for my visit) so I'm not terribly worried about it. I live in Utah and have never been back east, I'm very excited! Thanks in advance, everyone! :-) |

Dartmouth, MA/Boston/Cuttyhunk Thank you so much, everyone. I'll keep a record of the Boston recs and I'll also do searches for Boston. I have a feeling I'm in for a treat. I'll post on the southern New England board too. The east is so confusing just looking at it on Google maps! If anyone wants Park City recs you can find me on the Mountain States board. Ciao! :-) |

Dartmouth, MA/Boston/Cuttyhunk Please let me know if this thread doesn't belong in this room. Go easy on me, I'm a Utahn by way of Seattle who has never seen anything east of Bismarck, ND. After you've stopped laughing I have questions. In August or September we'll be flying into Boston or Providence. After two days in Boston we're headed to Dartmouth, then to Cuttyhunk. Any "must goes"? I love casual, hole in the wall local places. If it's delicious but is served in a basket lined with newspaper I'm game. Dives are fine and I love drinking beer and chatting with locals. I love seafood of all kinds but have never had lobster, only crab. Thanks in advance, everyone! :-) |

Salt Lake City eats, are these worthwhile? How was everything? |

Sorry I'm just now popping back in here. I've eaten at the J&G Grill twice and imo it was nothing to write home about. It is right in the hotel, which is nice. Did you have fun in PC? |
I'd like to echo skinnyfish and recommend Caputo's. I really hope it meets your standards! I was impressed by it. I'm sorry but I can't offer advice on spices. Imo this place is a must-go: http://southeastmarket.com/ It's a gem. |

Salt Lake City eats, are these worthwhile? Definitely hit Squatters! I live in Heber but when I do hit SLC it's a place we visit. Get the "beer shot" sampler...I won't tell you what the serving platter is, it's a surprise. :-) |
I'm glad you hit the Buffalo Cafe, it's a favorite. When I go to Twin to see my parents we go there. I'm so sorry I just now saw this thread. Where did you eat & did you have a good time? |
Worse McDonald's Item (No McD bashing, please) YES! I couldn't think of a single bad thing from McD's until you mentioned the McGriddle. *shudder* |
Salt lake City, Moab and Park City recommendations Yeah, The Eating Establishment is no good. Sorry about that. I've heard nothing but good things about Glitretind. Maybe I'll try to hit that this fall when the coupons come out! ;-) I hope you had a good time in Utah. |

Hummingbird nectar-sugar&water or store bought? 4:1 here too. I don't boil it but get it the water hot enough to dissolve the sugar. |
Vinegar on Fries...a dying tradition I drown my fries in malt vinegar if it's available. YUM. |

yesyesyesyesyes. Also, if I'm not granted access to food every 3/4 hours I feel sick, get a headache, and feel cranky (hangry, my cousin calls it). My coworkers make fun of me for eating so much. My lady boss is so petite and I almost never see her eat! I am not overweight but am not underweight, either. She seems to just munch on green peppers and almonds. I'm 32 and she's nearly 60 so that may have something to do with it. |

I am thrilled. It will be located at 634 East 400 South and should be done by the end of the year. It'll be a dry store but I'm fine with that. It's their food products I crave and shove into a suitcase whenever I travel to Tucson or Seattle. Now I can buy fresh items too. HOORAY!!! |
I'm being gifted expired food. Nothing so far! Can you believe it? LOL Thanks for thinking of me. :-D If I get goods in July I'll post. |

Aluminium foil is apparently less environmentally friendly than plastic wrap. Thanks John! Yes, I do enjoy how fresh it keeps my bread. However I've not been able to reuse foil after a loaf has been eaten...it's ratty and falling apart. Maybe I need to be more gentle? ;-) Our recycling company won't accept it. :-( Sunshine, thanks for the tin idea! |

WOW! That's some nerve. |

Aluminium foil is apparently less environmentally friendly than plastic wrap. This is something I've been thinking about. I dislike using aluminum foil but can't think of another way to keep my homemade bread fresh. I don't like the idea of using a large Ziploc because shouldn't the bread be able to "breath" a bit? I don't want a clunky bread box, either. Maybe wrap it in wax paper then reuse the wax paper for the next loaf? Paper bag? This is just something I've been rolling around in my head for a few months. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks! ETA: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/645850 Ahhhh. Good ideas there! |

I would have been turned off as well. I likely wouldn't have said anything right then but would probably call the store later. Any update? Did you call? |

That is a wonderful story, John. |
