Gordon Ramsay, Kitchen Nightmares. Do you like the show, believe restaurants are real..lol Although this transformation was not on kitchen nightmares, ramsay was recently involved in the revitalization of a restaurant here. The menu and decor follows in the tradition set in KN. Although it is a pleasant environ, the food is lackluster --- although I must add that it does get rave reviews. Overall the biggest changes are simplification of the menu, and simple but fresh comfort food --- i wouldn't be surprised if some of the menu items can be found across the united states. Again, not really my bag, but it definitely gives a KN vibe --- so even in the absence of the cameras, he is responsible for a certain archetype. So I would say that at least the transformatio nis real. maybe not the personalities... |

Foodies Boys Weekend in Montreal these suggestions are so metro these are manly guys looking for chunks of meat. i doubt they are looking for precious food. you guys will do alright at moishes'. they don't reinvent the wheel and it isn't peter luger's but you'll get a solid manly meal and you will be waited on by waiters in vests. for breakfast, it may be hard to get all seated right away, but I recommend Le Gros Jambon http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Gros... ... If you do decide to up the ante and be a bit more adventurous, definitely check out Joe Beef. For lunch, Schwartz's is a tight fit for 8, but you can make it work --- they're used to weird requests and groups. Leave it to them ,they're old school. |

Visiting Montreal Mid-April - Must visits please that's because they have cheap rent and nowhere else to go. i am hardly a food snob - i just see no point in sending a tourist to eat prison food. the environ isn't even so charming. it reminds me of visiting my grandmother at her apartment on kent and cote des neiges. |

Foodies Boys Weekend in Montreal dieu du ciel is 2nd best |
Visiting Montreal Mid-April - Must visits please Wilensky's isn't good at all. it's a time warp in the sense that elderly people are there. |
Has anyone been to the new Thai bistro on La Joie in Outremont ? |
Visiting Montreal Mid-April - Must visits please sandwiches are unique and made with excellent ingredients. montreal falls flat in the sandwich department, OetG picks up the slack |
they support urban agriculture and purchase from off-island farmers |

Cheapest grocery store for fruits and veggies? if you are driving to PA on parc then i highly recommend going to the one on fort instead. it is much larger, they actually have well priced fresh seafood, better selection and free parking in back. |
Cheapest grocery store for fruits and veggies? I was at adonis these past 2 weekends and the produce was excellent. much much better than what's at the supermarket and sometimes half the price. Try to find crisp lettuce at provigo on a sunday - doesn't exist. |
Cheapest grocery store for fruits and veggies? I agree - Adonis has great prices, quality and selection The cheapest goes to Mourelatos - http://www.mourelatos.com/onlinecircu... |

can;t go wrong with Genevieve Grandbois. I was gifted a box in an elegant tin box -- useful for storing drug paraphernalia once emptied |
lol man obviously you've never had your heart broken |
it's a classic french patisserie.it is a small neighbour joint. it is not as contemporary or chi chi as Fous Desserts or Suite 88. However, both of those places are excellent - so I dunno, I imagine your girlfriend wouldn't be disappointed by any of those places |
don't forget the cheese...I recently had truffles and chocolates from Pâtisserie Lescurier 1333 Van Horne in Outremont. They were exceptional but very pricey. |
safflower has a similar smoke point |
to be fair it takes a good recipe and practice...even the jersey shore kids could do it in florence |
i've seen it at fruiterie mile end |

there is lots of horrible pizza in nyc but i also don't think that making good pizza is as much of a skill as you make it out to be. the place's you mentioned are family businesses that have been around for decades. a lot of the bad pizza places here offer bad food in general - namely the greek-styled diners. you can find pretty good pizza across canada and the USA that isn't as doughy as so-called montreal pizza --- it has little to do with skillset. People line up for Amelios because it is damn good. |
has anyone been to "HOTDOG GUYSss"? it isn't only students at the faubourg. the faubourg is a high rise office tower in the middle of downtown. |
go try it right this second. it is light years beyond what you're expecting. yes it is a doughy pizza but the crust is crisp and the cheese tastes of cheese and the sauce is rich. they make excellent pizza. for cheap slices, I like Pizza Dani on Drummond and St-Catherines --- especially their spinach pizza But Amelio's is definitely the sort of neighbourhood joint you'd find in Brooklyn. Also Pizza mona at JTM has NYC style slices - not as good as some but definitely familiar |
Amelios is definitely great. I don't see how anyone can argue with that. |
i've seen avocado oil in many supermarkets |

Map of Great CHICKEN joints in Montreal definitely not the best chicken in the city. most expensive rotisserie chicken breast perhaps |

Map of Great CHICKEN joints in Montreal Surprisingly, IGA on Cote-St-Luc road, in Cote-St-Luc plaza has fantastic rotisserie chickens comparable to chalet |
