Florida produce

I have been very fortunate with the Publix I shop at her in St. Peter. Their selections seemed to really increase when a Fresh Market store opened up just down the street. They started getting in a lot of fruit and veggies they had never carried before. Now unless they are getting the extra items from a separate produce broker, then all these items must be available from the main distribution center for Publix. Just a thought.

Florida produce

They had some just the other day at the Publix in the Northeast Shopping Center in St. Pete. So it must be available. Talk to the produce manager to see if they will order some.

Tampa luch and dinner - near USF?

My understanding is that it will be similar, if not the same, as the rest of the Taco Bus locations.

Tampa luch and dinner - near USF?

I used to do the same thing when it was in the Mall. Excellent food back then.

Tampa luch and dinner - near USF?

Taqueria Monterey closed as of yesterday. Just thought I would let you all know.

St. Pete/Gulfport

Please come back and let us know what you think of it.

St. Pete/Gulfport

Isn't Oystercatchers in Tampa, not St. Pete or Gulfport?

ABC or Lucky Star in St. Pete

I have not been to Lucky Star but can definitely give ABC Seafood a thumbs up as a chow worthy place!

St. Pete/Gulfport

Parkshore Grill or Marchands at the Vinoy.

Recommendations near Tampa Airport

Mazzaro's is an excellent suggestion. Ditto on that!

Fried Chicken

I agree with Jeff on this one. Munch's still has the best fried chicken in the bay area that I have tried so far. BTW, don't get to Munch's too late, especially on a Tuesday, as they can run out of fried chicken.

Who has the best burger in Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater

I've been to quite a few in the Tampa bay area and my favorite these days is Square One Burger on Henderson in Tampa.

Any great grocery stores in/near Largo Florida?

There is a Fresh Market in both St. Petersburg and in Countryside. But in St. Pete, there is also a killer Italian market Mazzaro's on 22nd Ave. N at about 26th St. N.

Tampa recommendatons please (Researched!!)

Glad to hear of you overall positive experience in the Tampa Bay area. And yes, I agree that it has never made sense to compare a smaller metropolitan area such as Tampa Bay with NYC Philly, Chicago, etc.

That being said, I am curious as to which location of Ceviche you went to?

Decent casual restaurant near Tampa airport?

It's excellent, Bill. Most people ask why a Cuban place is making fried rice. It goes back to the early days of Tampa when there were many Asian immigrants, as well as Cuban immigrants, in Tampa. And since Cuban restaurants had most of the ingredients for fried rice within their Cuban cooking, they began to make the fried rice to satisfy the desires of the Asians in the area. And while there might be more around, Arco Iris is the only Cuban place still making it.

St. Petersburg............

Ditto on Munch's! Make sure you go on a Tuesday or Saturday so you can try their delicious fried chicken.

Tampa recommendatons please (Researched!!)

Todd, is that a derogatory comment regarding Pinellas? I hope not.

Tampa recommendatons please (Researched!!)

Two other thoughts for Christmas day would be Pelagia Trattoria in Tampa and Marchands at the Vinoy in St. Pete. Both are hotel restaurants but very good in their own rights.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

I did not recommend La Teresita as I prefer Arco Iris for Cuban food. Just my personal preference though.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

Yes, they are good also. I was trying to recommend some closer to the airport for you but the Taco Bus is not too far out of the way. Depending on what time you get there, if can get very busy at lunch time. If you had enough time, I would recommend you try Tacqueria Monterrey on Fletcher Blvd. It's owned and run by the same people as the Taco bus but I think it has a better menu plus it has a help yourself salsa bar to boot.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

Arco Iris on Buffalo for good Cuban food. Holy Hog BBQ on Armenia for bbq.

Xmas Eve Showdown- China Yuan or Yummy House?

I think you are 110% correct in this observation, R!

Tamps FL BBQ and Diner's.............

I noticed that and deleted from my post. But thanks for letting me know.

Tamps FL BBQ and Diner's.............

On BBQ, I would recommend Jimbo's on Kennedy and Holy Hog on Armenia. Jimbo's for the nostalgia and Holy Hog for the best all-around. Plus HH has brisket also.

Tampa / St Pete Beach recommendations?

Ditto to the recommendation on Skyway Jack's!

St. Pete Native / Old Haunts..

Here is the website for Babalu's: http://www.babalueats.com/ . It is definitely still there. I hit it a couple of times a month.

Don't know if you ever went there but Munch's is still open on 6th St. S. and is quite good. Their fried chicken on Tuesday and Saturdays is to die for. And a heck of a deal to boot.

Can't help on Treasure Island as I don't get out there much.

Have a great time. BTW, don't forget Ted Peters!

Where do I find individual wrapped pats of butter by the carton in Orlando

How about GFS(Gordon Food Service)? The closest one for you is probably Altamonte Springs. Give them a call first to see if they have it available at the store.

Sweetbay supermarkets

Thanks Joan!

Sweetbay supermarkets

Joan, when were the lobster prices going up to $7.99?

An afternoon in Tampa?

The Dali Museum is essentially on the property just to the south of the Mahaffey Theater.
