Quick Bread machine advice please

I don't have insight into which model to buy, but I can tell you that the Kosher on a Budget blog posts deals on them on Amazon from time to time. If you're willing to wait, I would shop around and see what she posts.

You can also set a price alert for a particular one and see pricing history with the website camelcamelcamel.com - they also work with Amazon. That way you can get an idea of what constitutes a good deal and then make sure you get it.

The lunch buffet at Bombay is pretty good, affordable too.

Grow and Behold sausage

The bacon from G&B is great, I love stir frying it with vegetables. I don't notice a taste difference with their poultry, but I do with their meat-meat.

Small plates opening in Prospect Heights this fall

I went to an event at her house once and the food was incredible. I contributed to the Kickstarter, I'm excited for this place to open. I really hope it makes it.

Etrog cake

Is it safe to make anything edible with etrog? My sister-in-law offered to make me a cake because I'm very pregnant, but I've heard the pesticide levels are off the charts.

Kraft polly-o string cheese

This would be incredible if true. I'd love to hear something a bit more verifiable.

Any Kosher offerings in Union Station, Washington, D.C.?

If you hold by the Crumbs hechsher, there's one in Union Station by the Amtrak.

Eden Wok (Midtown Manhattan)

As a former waitress... I was paid ~$3 an hour. It was nothing. I lived off of tips. One table's tip didn't make or break me, but if everyone thought as stingy as this, I wouldn't have been able to make a living.

Rome

There's also restaurants in the Jewish ghetto that will do the same, but I'm not sure how to arrange that from afar, nor if that's possible to do last minute on a Friday. Maybe you could arrange it when you fly in the first time.

Rome

We got Shabbat catered by a local woman (janet rubin <janni82@gmail.com>) and delivered to our hotel and we rented a hot plate from her too. This was the info she gave:

I suggest the following MenĂ¹ that can be changed at your preference and
taste:

Friday evening:

Stewed fresh salmon with Mayonnaise (or Lasagne)

plus stewed meat balls with carrots and green peas, fruit salad or cake

Saturday Lunch:

Fettuccini with tomato & meat sauce

plus schnitzel (or roasted chicken), roasted potatoes or grilled vegetables,
fruit salad or cake

The cost per meal per person is Euro 25

Wine & Challot Euro 10

Cast Iron Pans

Sigh. I never realized a cast iron pan couldn't be Kosher. Just sent an email to my LOR. I had a Lodge pan.

Washington DC Kosher Highlights?//How to Access the Kosher Board and Save It

There's only two restaurants: the one in the JCC, which is overpriced, and the deli (Eli's) which is lackluster. For both, you need to stay in the Dupont area. There's apparently also packaged Kosher meals at the Holocaust museum cafe, but you should call ahead of time to make sure they have them in stock.

There's a lot more options in Silver Spring and other MD suburbs, but you'll be quite inconvenienced for touring in DC if you stay up there.

Amsterdam Burger Co.

My husband and I are big fans, we've been there a few times. We've tried a few things, but the best part of the menu is the breakfast burger, a fried egg, bacon and potato. He's very picky about his burgers and he loves it.

Rome

We went to Rome last year and Nonna Betta had the best reviews that I could find, but I wasn't terribly impressed. They pushed multiple courses, but we found that we were okay with just one. The place that knocked our socks off, from appetizer to dessert and especially the pasta, was Ba Ghetto Milky.

Dad is an observant Jew. I am an observant Chowhound. Where can we eat in New York City and both be satisfied?

I love Taam Tov.

New UWS Restaurant

I went there with my husband a few weeks ago using a jDeal. We had different meals and they both were just incredible. Best food we've had in as long as we can remember. It was a fancy place, and it charges for it, but for a nice dinner on the UWS, it's gold.
