Place to buy beer in Bensonhurst Obviously I could walk into any corner store and grab a six pack of "Duff Beer" but I'm looking for a place to buy Scotch Ale, or Murphy's Stout. I live near L&B, so I'm sort of at a crossroads of Gravesend and Bensonhurst. Anyone? Thanks! |

Monte's Delicatessen in Brooklyn Yeah, Rubano took over the place maybe like two years ago when Vinny retired. Things seemed to be running status quo, and I even went in there about two weeks before I saw that the gates were shuttered on a non-holiday monday afternoon. It's really heartbreaking to see that this place is closed, and not moving or anything. |

Monte's Delicatessen in Brooklyn Sorry, I mean they're closed. I wasn't sure if they were moving or not, but the gates are locked and a big sign saying "COMING SOON, LAUNDROMAT" |

Del Rio Diner on Kings Highway and West 13th. Cozy place, good food, and it has the virtue of never having been closed down by the health department. =oP I go every weekend for saturday lunch or sunday breakfast. ----- |

What to order at Keen's steakhouse? Thanks, all. I have heard that the Cantata's as close to magic as you can get. I DEFINITELY plan on that. And as far as drinks go, if it's regular pub beer, I'm probably going to have a few Smithwicks, then. I'd love to have the Scotch, but when I drink fine booze, I tend to drift away from my noms, and this is a meal I plan on savoring. I'm really excited about going, and hope to come back to you guys on Monday with a positive story. |

What to order at Keen's steakhouse? Sorry for the thread necro, but I'm headed there this weekend with a group of about 10 friends. I know for sure that I'm definitely going for the "mutton," but am not sure about what else to order. With the size of the chop and the creamed spinach/baby potato sides I plan on ordering, is there any need for an appetizer? I also hear many things about the wine here (not good things) but what about the beer? Anything that stands out? Are they asking for 15 dollars per pint, or am I going to let myself get sloshed? Thanks, all! |

Pizza, Knapp Pizza III (Specifically number 3. I really don't know if they're affiliated with any others. Or even why they are Knapp all the way over here). Kings Highway and West 1st Street. Italian Sweet Bakery absolutely has to be Elegante on Avenue U, between West 6th and West 7th. Italian Savory Bakery, for me, is Kings Highway Bakery on Kings Highway, between West 6th and West 7th. I know these border on Gravesend, but I believe they are still technically Bensonhurst. ----- Elegante Pastry Shop Knapp Pizza III |

Monte's Delicatessen in Brooklyn After my daughter was born in late 2009, she became the 4th generation of my family to be welcomed into the store. My Grandmother was a frequent customer, my Mother, myself, and now my little one. Needless to say, I am confused as to the status of my most favorite eating establishment in the whole world. Anybody know what happened? What the hey? Also, outside of John's Deli (relatively little amount of meat per sammich), is there another Deli in the area that could stand up to my monumental regard for Montes' heroes? ----- John's Deli |
