OKay, my fav sauvs are from Malboruough (I'm in the US).
Allan Scott, Kim Crawford are great...Giesen ROCKS!! (great gooseberrry and a party in your mouth).

If you're in the midwest try Napa Ridge Sauv for around 10.99 - other areas the price might vary,.

Paris - woman in a bar alone...not good idea?

Okay, so I'm going to Paris in a week (solo, leaving the darling husband at home cause part of the trip is business) and my sister just returned from there. She said that a a woman having a drink in a bar alone is frowned upon...to the point of "you shouldn't do it." I guess it is okay to have a drink in a restaurant, but not in a bar.....sigh....

So I had places like Willy's Wine Bar, Wine and Bubbles, Frog and Princess (I think this is a pub) Moose Bar (probably okay cause it's ran by Canadians) Le Dernier Goutte (wine shop next to La Boissonnierer) and Jacques Melac Wine Bar (part of Bistrot Melac??) on my list.

Are these okay to go to alone as a woman? Please advise :)

Merci....

Should Red Wine Be Served at Room Temperature?

I agree that ice dilllutes the taste of the wine - and that truly destroys the flavor - however, if in a pinch I've been known to throw an ice cube in the best of my white wines. My theory - better to put an ice cube in it than to drink it warm.

Salut :)

Solo dining in Paris

here's the website - http://www.jim-haynes.com/ - click on "Sunday dinner parties". Which is pretty much what it is - a dinner party at this guy's house.

Solo dining in Paris

So has anyone been to the Jim Haynes dinner party? I am going to Paris in 3 weeks alone and am so intrigued by this dinner party.....but skeptical about going alone.
I'm mid-40's, speak french and live adventures. Advice?
