Raw Dairy Farm near Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids

Hello,

I am driving from Chicago ----> Grand Rapids ------> Ann Arbor tomorrow (Friday), and would like to stop somewhere and pick-up some raw milk! Anyone know of some farms that have a little on-site shop that sells their products?

Thanks.

Raw Dairy In PA

Hello,

I will be spending this upcoming Sunday driving from Ann Arbor Michigan to New York City... I can either take I- 80 E the entire way, or split the trip between I-80 E and I - 76 E... I am willing to do either for the sake of raw Dairy!

Does anyone know of any raw dairy farms that are open on Sunday that are in the vicinity of either of these routes? I am willing to veer off a bit to find that "Perfect Dairy Farm."

I am also looking for a GREAT grass fed burger along the way too. Open to all ideas!

Thanks.

Unique/Different Eating Experience in Hell's Kitchen

Hello -

I am looking for an atypical eating experience in hell's kitchen for a late night dinner.

What I like:
Ethnic, different, low key (hole in the wall), authentic, not overly cool

What I do not like:
Productions, average, run of the mill

You know how there are places that try to be different (the nyc speakeasy scene can be like that at times - but can be cool too)? I am looking for a place that is different without trying to be that way. Whether it is an authentic ethnic dive, or just a good place doing it's thing.

Open to ideas... only thing I do not want is average.

Ahh... also - walking distance from mid town a bonus, and open late (til 11/12) a must too.

Thanks.

I like Sugiyama and want to try some other places like it. Does anyone know of some other paces like it? I like the fact that is a small place and the experience seems personal. Thanks.

I also wanted to add that I am willing to venture - If you know of a chef that has taken over a warehouse in Brooklyn, I'm down for that - as long as the lighting is good... hah

When I said atmosphere, I meant more interesting than fancy.

Thanks.

Culinary Character in NYC

I will in in NYC this weekend (3/13/09) and am looking for some interesting eating experiences. I love places that mix atmosphere, intimacy and an exciting menu.

In terms of types of food, I'm easy, I just want to go somewhere that has interesting/extremely tasty dishes.

Along with taste, I prefer intimate places as opposed to commercial ones. Even though there are some very good larger restaurants in NYC, I am looking for places that can only seat a few and are found on smaller streets.

I will be with my gf, and as such also want a place that has a nice, relaxing atmosphere.

I am into all types of food - my only request is that people present me with places that serve good tasting stuff, in an independently owned, nicely appointed place.

Here are some places I really enjoy in NYC:

Barbuto, Extra Virgin, Caracas (not for dinner), Care Mogador, MomoFuku (do not love, a bit commercial - but cool), Malatesta

All recs. are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help.

suggestions - looking for character

Looking for a place in the vicinity of downtown that is:

1. Interesting/Unique (see Avec)

2. A decent value (see Tango Sur)

3. Solid (A chef that take pride in his restaurant and makes everything to prefection)

Could some people please post some of their favorite restaurants that fit this description. It is broad; but I am open minded.

Please no chains and no restaurants whose websites play new age/lounge music.

Hello - this post is kind of late notice... but I'm all over the map.

I am looking for a place for tonight (saturday 11/21), that will be a fun/unique experience for a group of 5 young people.

We are looking for a sort a tasteful hole-in-the-wall ambiance coupled with a fun fun vibe. We also want spicy food and reasonable prices.

Neighborhood preferences - below 20th - otherwise were open.

Some places that embody what we are looking for - Extra Virgin, Malatesta, Cafe Mogador.

Prompt responses much appreciated...hah. Thanks.

Best Steak in Chicago?

Going to jump on the Tango Sure train. Place is awesome and different than any other "steak place" in the city. It is sexy not stuffy and the prices are unreal.

Best Chicago Restaurants of 2008- need rec

If you venture 10 minutes north of downtown, Tango Sur, will def, impress. It is near wrigley. However only go if you like steak.

The atmosphere and prices are both very favorable. It is unbelievable how much great food you get for just a little bit of money. I highly recommend the ricotta stuffed eggplant.

Very sexy place, very good food.

Creative Sunday Brunch

Sunday brunch on vacation is one of my favorite experiences.

I am looking for a place...preferably on the lower east or west or upper west side of the island (these areas for the vibe they give - not into stuffy upper east or commercial mid-town) that serves a creative Sunday brunch.

I am looking for pancakes and french toast that will blow my mind! I also want a place that is brunch and not just breakfast. Moreover, I am seeking a place that has that sunday brunch "feel" that everyone loves.

Any suggestions?! I always enjoy brunch at Extra Virgin on the lower west side... places similar to that would be great.

Thanks.

Character & Quality

i'll have to go back to TAC. had no idea this alternative menu existed - sounds like my kind of deal.

Went to Fond Del Mar last night - frickin great - inconspicuous place in an unassuming part of town with a great menu. Eating out doesn't get much better.

Thanks.

ok, so I went over to TAC. Had the right vibe - actually really enjoyed the art they had on the walls. anyway, as far as thai is concerned, the food was good. did nto blow me away but acceptable for a neighborhood restaurant and for the price i paid!

anyway, I am going to be in the river north/loop area this evening and am looking for a place either in river north and the west loop that has a good vibe(music, lighting), good fooda nd a bit more low key than most spots in that area... any recs?

Thanks.

As far as price - I do not mind paying a little more than average, but I hate getting ripped off - what I am saying is I like to get what I pay for. So far, TAC sounds great. I am going to check it out.

I would like a place that makes a date say "wow, this place is great, how did you find it?!"
rather than "wow, this place is cool." I guess the first quote implies "coolness" but it also shows thta I do research and dont just go where the hoards do.

As far as Marigold (I am an avid Indian food fan) is it one of the places where the scent of Indian food is stuck on your clothes for the next few hours?

Also, my next date is on a monday, which of this places will have some energy on a Monday night?

Thanks so much to everyone. I am developing quite a list!

Dude! nice post. My problem is that I know exactly what I want and have this platonic vision of it. anyway, if you come back to the post, and for future repliees - my perfect place is for example an ethnic restaurant (say indian, sushi, thai, latin, cuban) that also has atmosphere. An ethnic restaurant where the aesthetic, like the flavors, is also a priority. and where if I am in a sport coat and a button down, for a date, I wont feel out of place.

Example - Tank Sushi, Lincoln Square area.
