Where's the best fried chicken in the GTA ?
I wonder if they are still allowed to serve Halal chicken. There was an article awhile back, here's an excerpt from it -
A group of Muslim restaurant franchisees is fighting fast-food chain Popeyes Louisiana Chicken in court over the right to sell hand-slaughtered Halal meat for religious reasons.
The battle in Ontario Superior Court comes after the Atlanta-based franchise moved to replace the chicken supply with machine-killed birds in 14 Toronto restaurants. The company says it’s still Halal-certified; the franchisees claim the machine method is against the beliefs of a majority of Muslims.

Had the baja fish tacos last week (Fridays only) and it was really good!!
ISO Good Carrot Juice
Thanks justsayn for letting me know! We are actually getting it for the fibre for my son but I didn't know that they strip it all out. Lately we've gotten lazy at making our own so it's back to making fresh carrot juice for us! We get the really big carrots from Highland Farms, great for making juice.
ISO Good Carrot Juice
We buy the big bottles of Bolthouse Farms carrot juice when we don't feel like making fresh at home. Really tasty and my 4 year old loves it! We buy it from Loblaw's and Highland Farms.
has anyone ever used Afghan Women's Catering?
Could you provide the name and contact for your coworker's sister's afghani food catering business? And do you know if they cater in Mississauga?

What has happened to Whole Foods in Yorkville?
I agree with magic and prima. I've been to both the Square One and Yorkville locations. I frequently go to the Yorkville one as I work close to that one and I get my lunch from there. I found that if you have any issues or are looking for a product, you can ask them questions through their facebook page called "Whole Foods Yorkville" and they are pretty good at replying back promptly. But I agree with ediblethoughts, it's hard to find someone to help you when you are there looking for a product.
And I noticed they have renovated the eating area in Hazelton Lanes just outside WF so it's a nice area to sit if you want to eat there.
When I went to the Square One location, they had just opened and the people working there were so eager to help you out! We asked one guy for a product and he practically led us across the store to where it was.
ISO Gavottes by Loc Maria French cookie
My coworker gave me something similiar for Christmas last year and she said she got it from Costco.
God I love Highland Farms
I agree, my SO just went today and got really big fuji apples and quince from there. Miss HF's produce just can't be beat. And I love the huge selection there and the pasta sauce that they make. Cakes and pastries are hit and miss. Our favourite is the dulce de leche cake, it's pretty decent for a grocery store cake.
ISO Best Tasting Club House Sandwich.
The Blake House has an avocado BLT which is really good! I went last summer for lunch and it was delicious! They have a lovely patio too.

Le Petit Dejeuner-October 2009- great breakfast on a Saturday morning
My SO and I went last week on Thursday at around 9am and it was pretty empty, only one other table was occupied and a single diner came in after us. It was a guy server and the food was sitting for about a couple of minutes on the counter before he brought it over. SO had asked for the hollaindaise sauce on the side which wasn't communicated to the cook so the server apologized and offered to get another plate, but my SO decided to eat it anyway as he was really hungry!
We both got the eggs benny and a side order of the plain waffles with maple syrup. We both really enjoyed the food and my SO ended up liking the sauce (thought it would be too lemony). We had pretty good service and he even checked up on us as well so it looks like you will get good service depending on which server you get. My SO was put off by the decor and the one bench with a rip in it. Thought it seemed dirty and could use a good cleaning. :)
Niagara Falls
Another Indian restaurant there is The Guru. Never been there either so I don't know how the food is or what they specialize in. You can check out their menu on their website.

Can we revisit the PATH?
I'm glad you liked it Julesrules! :) I haven't been there in awhile as I now work close to Yonge and Bloor and not in that area anymore. Next time, try the vegan souvlaki with garlic sauce, that was my fav too! I remember they only had that on Tuesdays.
Help! - Need a restaurant with good food and a big beer selection in Toronto!
What about WVRST, the new sausage and beer restaurant that opened up? It doesn't have a big beer selection but what they have does sound good.
Openings 2011
Went to the Mississauga location this past weekend as Bamiyan was too busy and got the chicken and shami kabob dinner. The chicken was tasty and moist but the shami was overly salted and the restaurant smelled liked Windex! :( They even kept the spray bottle in the area where you put your plates and tray when you are finished. My SO even mentioned it to them about the smell. Hoping the downtown location is better!!
Toronto's most boring resto: your nominations, please
I totally agree with you there Charles on Persian food, esp Afghan! My MIL only likes Bamiyan or Pamier and the only thing you can order is Kabob and that gets tiring and boring! My SO and I go to Japanese or Chinese when we don't go out with her but when she comes with us, she's very picky and only likes Middle Eastern or Afghani. We have been to Bamiyan at least 5 times in the past 2 months and I get tired of eating the kofta or chicken kabob. I try to change it up by ordering the wrap. :)
Brick Street Bakery in FCP is open (finally)!
I agree as well! Walked by there at 7:30am and they were still closed while Longo's, Furama Bakery and The Great Canadian Bagel were all open!
Looking for a nice upscale place for an engagment party Indian food preffered
There's Nirvana in Mississauga at Hurontario and Brunel. They also have a private dining room. And it's closer to Pearson as well. :)

ISO Fresh Edamame
Went to Highland Farms yesterday and got a bag of frozen edamame. Thanks for your help everyone! Will check out the farmer's markets if we have time to get the fresh ones.
ISO Fresh Edamame
Thanks PP! We don't have a Costco membership but my Dad does so I'll just go with him the next time I visit my parents so I can get that. :) Hopefully the Hamilton Costco carries it!
ISO Fresh Edamame
Thanks Kagemusha! We will try at Highland Farms as that's our fav grocery store and we're planning to go there this week to get a birthday cake for my son. We are going to surprise him with edamame on his birthday this weekend.
ISO Fresh Edamame
Thanks 13inches! Oceans is closer to us than T&T so we will stop by there tonight. And thanks for the microwave tip as well. My SO says this will be the perfect snack with his beer. :)
ISO Fresh Edamame
Thank you so much TorontoJo for the help and the quick recipe! That's exactly what we are looking for. :)
ISO Fresh Edamame
Frozen is ok too. Thanks for letting me know they could be in the freezer section, never thought to check there. I will try our local Loblaw's to see if they have it.
ISO Fresh Edamame
I'm in search of fresh edamame that I can cook, just like the ones they serve at restaurants. My 3 year old son is a picky eater but absolutely loves edamame! :)
My SO has been to T&T in Mississauga but he says the edamame he found there was very small and we are looking for nice big fat ones. Would prefer stores in Mississauga/Brampton but don't mind any recommendations in Toronto either.

Khao San Road Review
Just went their tonight for the first time. I have never been Sukhothai so I was excited to try this new place out! I took my friends and we all LOVED it! We ordered 2 appetizers, the garlic tofu and the squash chips. I just read the Globe and Mail review and realized we should have gotten the squash fritters, oh well, we can get that the next time we go! I loved the garlic tofu, fried tofu with a very tasty dipping sauce! The squash chips were okay, they tasted like plain chips but with the dip it came with, it elevated them to another level!
For our mains, my friend and I got the medium Sam Roas pad thai and my other friend got the Gaeng Panang with chicken. As soon as I started eating, I just ate the whole dish up, it was so good that I enjoyed every bite and didn't get tired of eating the same thing. It was so good and the perfect level of spiciness! My friends loved their dishes as well. We were too stuffed for dessert!
I believe Jeff came by at the end of our meal to ask what we thought and we told him how much we loved it and asked him how long his restaurant had been open for. He was very nice and looked genuinely pleased that we had enjoyed the food. We look forward to going many more times!
