Subway made 2 mistakes that are destroying its business

When I was in high school (early 2000's), we had Domino's Pizza and Chic Fil A. They were little stands that would be brought to the school during lunch time. They had a limited amount of mini pizzas and chicken sandwiches, so they'd leave once they sold out. Also a public school, in the Los Angeles area. And yes, strictly for students/staff.

The best thing I ate on the 4th was.....

The juicy pork and crab XLB at Mama's Lu.

L.A. Dish of the Month, July 2015 -- SKEWERS

Torrance doesn't exactly have the best Persian food, but I find the koobideh at Fanoos Grill to be pretty tasty and juicy. $12 for the koobideh plate, which comes with 2 skewers, chelow rice, salad, and a roasted tomato.

Biling Fruit

Thank you! I wasn't aware of that name for it, and that it's used in Filipino cooking.

Biling Fruit

Growing up in Sri Lanka, the Biling fruit was my favorite. It is a sour fruit that is eaten with salt. I can't think of anything that it is comparable to, sorry. Has anyone seen this particular fruit available anywhere in LA? I attached a picture in case you're not familiar with it. TIA!

Most underrated LA restaurants

Well, at least I don't feel so bad for having a big mouth anymore... Haha.

Most underrated LA restaurants

Oh yes. I'm not the biggest fan of shawarma, but I really like theirs.

Pimento Cheese 911

The Torrance and El Segundo ones. Granted, this was a couple of months ago. Have you tried Bristol Farms?

French speaking restaurant in LA or OC

The last time I was at Chez Melange in Redondo Beach, our waiter was French. This was about 2 or 3 years ago, though.

Isaan Station in K-Town should be on people's radars.

Finally made my way to Isaan Station and just want to say thanks to everyone on this thread who mentioned the Kai Yang and the Tom Saab. They were excellent. I ordered the Tom Saab extra, extra, extra spicy and it was perfect. Also got the Nahm Dtok Nue, which was really good as well. I know Pad Kee Mao isn't Isaan, but it's just something I always get at Thai places because it's a personal favorite, but that was also very tasty.

Best Steakhouse in L.A.? Comparable to Porter House or Peter Luger?

I haven't been yet, but I've been hearing really good things abut The Arthur J.

Caramelized Spam Biscuit (or why Found Coffee is a true gem)

I think I need this. Thank you.

Chow worthy food in the most unexpected places

Is The Standing Room considered chow worthy? It's located inside a liquor store.

Favorite food items at Disneyland (ex. Club 33)?

They're available at the Cove Bar in California Adventure. They're not great, but they actually go quite well with that place's somewhat decent cocktails.

The lobster roll that you and ipsedixit mention, is it at the same place that has the lobster nachos in California Adventure? I don't recall ever seeing a lobster roll, but I've only been to CA twice.

Edit: Just googled it. Why have I never known the existence of Harbor Galley... Oops.

A lot of shave ice places have it now. Brian's Shave Ice on Sawtelle, for instance. Also, King's Hawaiian The Local Place in Gardena and Treat Tea & Ice in Torrance. Whipp'd LA in Santa Monica, as well.

Best Chicken Fried Steak in Austin?

Didn't want to start a new thread. I was wondering if there are any new spots in Austin with great CFS? Thanks in advance!

L.A. Dish of the Month, June 2015 -- PIZZA

I haven't tried Mr. Pizza yet, but I've heard that it's actually way better than this one. Love Letter is just closer to where I live.

Favorite food items at Disneyland (ex. Club 33)?

+2 on the fried chicken.

I used to love the Dole Whip, but now you can find it everywhere and it kind of lost the novelty of it for me.

L.A. Dish of the Month, June 2015 -- PIZZA

Bulgogi and pepperoni pizza with sweet potato mousse stuffed crust from Pizza & Chicken Love Letter in Gardena. The pizza was interesting, but in a good way I thought.

Rabbit - Where?

Love & Salt in Manhattan Beach: Rabbit Porchetta.

Birch in Hollywood: Rabbit Baklava.
