Proportions for a Vodka-Wine drink
I have had a drink at a restaruant which includes sauvignon-blanc, bitters, vodka and grapefruit juice- I just have no ideas what the proportions would be.

Does cooking steak from frozen make it retain its juices better?
The only steak I cook frozen is a 2 1/2 pound rib eye on the bone. 400 degrees for 1 /12 hours and the rib eye comes out like a very nice piece of roast beef for two- rare in the middle and roasted on the outside. This is the only way to make a perfect roast beef for me and my +1. However, in the last issue of Cooks one of their monthly tips was to lightly freeze your steaks before cooking on the grill for a charred outside and a rarer inside- so it is not out of bounds. tips su
GRILLED HALIBUT Filets--marinate?
we bought some halibut steaks for our first venture with halibut and although we grilled the steaks perfectly however, we thought the fish was flavorless and the texture a little too buttery. We were not fans- would buying fillets make a difference or do we not like halibut?

I am not sure why you asked the question since it does not seem to matter that the food is not good and because he is already doing the program. You have refuted all the answers with defense. And it does not make sense at all not to just do the l.c. or w.w. if it is all about portion control. A lot cheaper. Usually people need a crutch to get going and that must be what the idea of nutrisystem means to your husband. I am not truly snarking because I am a good cook, know portion control, etc., but if I could afford Diet to Go or any fresh food delivery I would use it.
Help me take my Pho experience up a level
I have been eating Pho for at least 15 years but except for the one time I tried chicken pho (blah) I have only orderd a bowl with flank steak as the meat. Give me a plan for working up to a new level. I can't go to tripe and tendon right away.
I live in the D.C. area and we have pretty good pho around here.

I am trying to make a vegetarian stuffing- no sausage- I will miss it. I thought I would try one of these chestnut stuffings but woud like to add a fruit- any suggestions
Vegertarian Pasta Dish served with Meat Sauce Side
I made some delicous spinach manicotti the other night but topped it prior to baking with some leftover mushroom meat sauce - this cooked up very tasty- however, I am looking to serve a lot of people -12- a vegetarian pasta dish that would take well to a meat sauce that would not be baked into the dish but could be served up like a gravy for those who want meat. Anyone got a good recipe or suggestion.
Visit from NYC seeking Md. Crabs
We bought crabs this weekend on the upper eastern shore from a family run business- being that it was 2:00 p.m. the crabber was right there in the office eating his lunch. X-large Fat crabs 40.00 a dozen - a pint of oysters $10.00
They will have both through the end of November- we got crabs from the same place last year the night after Turkey day and they were execellent.

I buy watermelon pickle all the time at Giant, I cannot remember ther brand . It is in the condiment aisle I believe- i.e. mustard, picka pepper sauce etc. I also have bought Washington brand spiced apples - very good but not crab apples,
Mid-Hudson Valley Celebratory Dinner help needed!
My husband and I spent a few days at the Rhinecliff Hotel- we did not have dinner due to other committments- but the breakfasts there were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The poached eggs perfect and the greek yogurt parfait with pistachios and clover honey was a dream. They have a very nice cozy room with fireplace. It is semi- casual thought from what I could see.

Tomato Sauce from Scratch
I just had a very tasty sauce last night whch I pulled from my freezer dated September 2009 which was made from Roma tomatoes which had been sliced in half, face up, roasted on a cookie sheet on the gas grill with olive oil, whole garlic cloves, a rosemary branch or two, and a small poblano pepper, kosher salt and pepper until well roasted, blended in the blender and there you go. Defrosted sauce, threw is some medium shrimp, cooked them five minutes. Very, Very good. I usually process a 25 pound box of Romas (seconds) using this process with various different seasonings for each pan on a Sunday afternoon in early September. All go into freezer bags which lie flat in my freezer.

Black's bar in Grill in Bethesda has bottomless champange cocktails which includes Mimosa's but several other kinds as well- it is 45 dollars but also includes unlimited raw bar, and a lot of other dishes- but for our group all the oysters, shrimp and clams is the plus - brunch is only 33.00 without the champagne- nice outdoor patio is a plus

Baby Shower Brunch in Bethesda/Chevy Chase
I just hosted a brunch at La Ferme in Chevy Chase. They have private rooms or space- it is very pretty and have a very nice exterior in the spring. The food is okay, french but the service is excellent.
