Columbus, Ohio – 1. Special Occasion Dinner & 2. Yummy, not pricey by Westerville

The spectacular meal choices you listed are still good. Also, G. Michael's in German Village is wonderful and I love the Worthington Inn. Both are creative and have great service.

Which Ohio Graeter's Location Best?

The Bethel Road one is the biggest and has the most to see. I would choose it or the Upper Arlington one. The Upper Arlington one is in a pretty part of town and has nice outside seating.

Northstar Café on High Street is north of campus and nice for a casual meal. They have a lot of options that can accommodate vegan/GF/etc and the outside seating is nice in good weather.

Are you staying downtown? G. Michael's in German Village is great. Close to downtown. High end but worth it for a special dinner.

Lunch between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis - (Columbus / Dayton?)

I'd recommend Skillet in Columbus. They have carryout and you can also eat outside if you can find a spot. They don't have a ton of seating but carryout is easy and it's a great neighborhood to walk your dogs if you have to wait on food.

Columbus oh recommendations

G. Michael's in German Village is great for dinner. The food and service are always top notch.

Worthington Inn is my other favorite. They are open for lunch and dinner and have a locally sourced menu and lots of good choices in an old inn in a very pretty part of old Worthington.

Gonna be in Columbus, Ohio Thursday 'till Sunday. What's great, fun

G. Michael's and Lindey's in German Village and Deepwood near the arena are all great choices for higher-end dining. Lindey's I would consider a classic. The Thurman in German village is famous for their giant Thurman burgers and has been on quite a few TV shows. Jeni's ice cream and Pistacia Vera are local dessert stars. As far as new, Wolf's Ridge Brewing is fairly new and a very cool space. I thought the portions were pretty small but the food was good. The Sycamore in German Village is an old bar that has a new owner and really good food. It may be mobbed because they don't take reservations. Harvest Pizza in German Village is highly recommended and they have a bar called Curio next door.

Columbus/Worthington during Arnold Classic help.

I haven't tried Pies and Pints but it has gotten some good reviews. Winking Lizard isn't gourmet but fun for a sports bar and the food isn't bad. Natalie's Coal-Fired Pizza in Worthington also gets good reviews and Is casual but nice.

German Village Coffee Shop has a good breakfast and may not be too crowded Sunday. It's not too far from the Arnold.

Steak in Columbus, Ohio

The Top is a great suggestion. Such a neat place and the food is great. I'd also recommend Hyde Park Grill, a smaller Ohio based chain that has great steaks and wonderful service. They have a few locations but the one in the Short North is probably closest if you're at the Arnold. You will need to make a reservation for either place. I don't think Hyde Park or The Top have sweet potatoes, but I could be wrong.

Recommendations for Columbus in early March

The Thurman Café is a Columbus burger landmark. It's been on several TV shows and is worth a visit.
http://thethurmancafe.com/

The other places you mentioned are all consistently good and worth a visit. Katzinger's is opening in the North Market also but I don't know if they'll be there by the time you arrive. Jeni's is a must try.

Columbus has a great food truck scene. One good way to try them is for a lunch at Dinin' Hall, where many trucks gather and you can get food and eat at tables. Aromaku and Swoop are my 2 favorite trucks lately.

For more upscale, I love G. Michael's in German Village. It's very close by cab. The food is consistent, creative, and delicious, and it has a great atmosphere. Rigsby's is a Columbus staple as well so it would be a good choice also.

Columbus OH -- Dinner suggestions

I like Explorer's Club just a bit south of Thurman. They take reservations on OpenTable. You have to park on the street but it's not too hard to find parking on High Street or the side street by the restaurant in that area. It's casual and fun and the food is great.

Skillet or Cap City in Columbus: Any experience?

Skillet is wonderful. Cap City has a "chain" feel to it now (I guess because it is part of a chain) and I used to really enjoy it but my last meal there was very disappointing.

Columbus area Thai, Indian and Japanese

I agree on the sushi recommendations of nc213. Akai Hana is great and a nice atmosphere. Also, Tensuke Express that's attached to the Japanese grocery store behind Akai Hana (Kenny/Old Henderson) has great Japanese food in a fast casual environment. Sometimes in the summer they even have an okonomiyaki cart outside.

Sher-E-Punjab in the same shopping center and Dosa Corner on the other side of Kenny have very good Indian food. I haven't tried Aab yet but have heard it's great. That little Kenny Center shopping Center right by Upper Arlington has a lot of interesting places. I didn't like the Thai there so much but it's been a few years since I've tried it.

Also, I like Taj Mahal on High Street north of OSU campus for Indian.

Columbus, OH question - Sunday lunch, early dinner Tuesday, maybe others

Also, Knead on High Street is walkable and a good, reasonably priced choice for dinner. Deepwood, also on High, is more upscale and has a great seasonal menu.

Columbus, OH question - Sunday lunch, early dinner Tuesday, maybe others

German Village neighborhood isn't too far from where you're staying. Lindey's has a great Sunday lunch/brunch and always has a lively feel to it. If it's nice out, they have a gorgeous patio. (www.lindeys.com).

If you want something very "Columbus" (but not necessarily gourmet), The Thurman Café has a famous burger and is a local landmark. http://thethurmancafe.com/menus/

Restaurant options near Convention Center [Columbus, OH]

Your hotel has a very good restaurant, Gallerie. Its chef also has another restaurant in town further north in the Clintonville area. DeepWood nearby is wonderful. I can't think of any pizza within walking distance but hopefully others will.

Columbus, Ohio help

Well, I would eliminate M and Gallerie. Nothing wrong with them but I don't think they're super special. Gallerie has the same chef as Sage but Sage is better to me. I'd do G. Michael's because it's in a charming neighborhood and the food and atmosphere are great. I'd do Sage and Alana's as my other two because if you like creative, local food they have it. None of these would be bad choices and Rigsby's is also in a nice neighborhood for walking around, shopping, etc. Pearl is also there and I've heard great things but if you're from NYC I've heard it is basically a copy of The Dutch. I hate Basi because it's so crowded to me but maybe it wouldn't seem that way if you're used to NYC.

Columbus, Ohio help

I agree with nc213 on Lindey's patio, although my recent meals there haven't blown me away. The atmosphere and service are wonderful, though. I think I'd choose Sage or Worthington Inn for a birthday. Worthington Inn has a pretty outdoor area if the weather is nice. Sage doesn't have outdoor seating but the food is really creative and it's festive and fun as far as atmosphere.

Columbus, Ohio help

I'd recommend Worthington Inn (www.worthingtoninn.com) - the chef is great and very intent on local ingredients. They also have a great patio and bar.

Also, Alana's Food and Wine is very good and has an eclectic local menu. www.alanas.com

Sage Bistro is another great option. www.sageamericanbistro.com

All three are great and you've also got some other wonderful recommendations. They all use local foods creatively and have nice atmospheres.

Best Veggie Burger in Columbus, Ohio?

Worthington Inn has a good one, made with Himalayan red rice. It's on their pub menu. Their bar and the restaurant are both great.

Nice dinner in Converse area?

Thank you for the advice. I ended up getting them an e-certificiate to Biga on the Banks and it turns out they've been there and love it. Guess distance wasn't a problem!

Nice dinner in Converse area?

Hello-
I'm trying to buy a gift certificate as a wedding gift for friends who recently moved to the San Antonio area. They live in Converse but I'm sure they would be willing to drive for a nice evening. Any ideas? Ì'm looking for a place that would feel like a treat and a nice evening out. Thanks in advance!

Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton dining

Columbus happy hour deals - G. Michael's in German Village (www.gmichaelsbistro.com) has great specials at the bar and a great atmosphere in a gorgeous neighborhood.

Columbus lunch - for north, I love Worthington Inn in Worthington. Beautiful old hotel with lots of locally sourced foods. www.worthingtoninn.com

Vegan & Carnivore Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio

Deepwood has a great vegetarian menu and I bet they would make something vegan also. They seem very accommodating. I know Alana's does vegan.

Columbus - Downtown and on foot

I'd try De-Novo Bistro across from Columbus Commons on High. Nice bar to eat at, live jazz sometimes, and creative food. Deepwood across from the convention center (behind construction scaffolding) has great happy hour specials at the bar and 2 really good menus, one vegetarian and one not. Jury Room is right off High and is more of a home-food, lsightly hipster-ish bar atmosphere. Cafe Brioso has great coffee. I'd feel comfortable walking to any of these places in the evening.

Help with north Columbus picks please...

Worthington Inn is close by and an independent restaurant that specializes in local food. They have a nice bar with live music on the weekends, and a pretty patio for outdoor dining. It's one of my favorites in town.

Hyde Park Grill at Crosswoods is a chain, but I love eating at the bar. It's a steakhouse. Cameron's is consistently good as well.

Visiting Columbus, OH for a couple days in August for the Dublin Irish Festival - where should I try?

Bethel Road is near Dublin and has a fun bar called Gallo's Tap Room. The bar is in a strip mall near MicroCenter and behind Wendy's. It's nothing fancy but they have great burgers, sandwiches and wings. Their bar food is a step up from what most places have, and it's an easy place to go by yourself.

Casual lunch/dinner and bakeries in Columbus? (esp. Worthington area)

Buckeye Pho Asian Kitchen on Bethel is really good. You could eat at the counter or get carryout. Very good Vietnamese food, and it has really nice, modern decor. It's on Bethel Road in the shopping center with the Kmart right by 315. I think it's 761 Bethel.
