Driving back from Hana (back side) or heading down from Haleakala...and looking for a place to eat?

cafe 808 is the place to go. they have every kind of plate lunch imaginable. a large variety of made to order sandwiches...and the best...fresh salads (veggies...island grown). they'll stack your plate full...and their prices can't be beat. you'll leave full and happy. also...if you had planned to pick-up a few necessities before heading back to your hotel....you can find everything you need.. across the street..at morihara store...for a whole lot less than you would at hotel shops. enjoy!

Chocolate-Drizzled Coconut Macaroons

i love these. dipped in milk chocolate w/chopped macadamia nuts sprinkled on top.

*youdonut~~ yes...you can use fresh coconut. after finely grating the coconut...place coconut on a cookie sheet and bake until lightly brown. my daughter likes these with fresh coconut. the cookies aren't as sweet as it is when using packaged coconut.
