Must-eat places on walking tour of Manh.

Thanks, everyone for your suggestions and your links to old posts. I can't wait to be back.

Must-eat places on walking tour of Manh.

Hi NYC Chowhounds - I'm visiting NYC from Boston after a long time away, with a friend who has never been. I'm planning on taking him on a walking tour of Manhattan, starting at Ground Zero and making our way up north. What are some places that you love that are quintessentially NY that I should be sure to hit as we meander our way through the city? Since we're going to be making several stops, I need nothing terribly expensive; but will take any cuisine and any neighborhood. And recommendations for places to drink are always welcome.

Thanks everyone.

Drinks in the afternoon?

These are great suggestions - thanks, everyone. I'm leaning to Audubon Circle since I'm sort of over in that direction now, but I'm going to have to try to hit the other places on the list - and quick, before school ends!

Drinks in the afternoon?

I have an afternoon free and a friend who's willing, so I was hoping to find a place where I could sit for a few hours in the mid-afternoon with a drink. Someplace not too sleek; this is less about the cocktail and more about wiling away some free time before reality hits again. Any suggestions - Boston, Cambridge, Somerville? I like Highland Kitchen, but it's not open until later; someone suggested Dante or Publick House but same problem. Thanks.

Drinks near the Superior Courthouse?

Thanks, everybody! And it's actually not a win or lose situation - I'm taking students to the courthouse. But at least now I know where to go if I find myself on the wrong side of the law.

Drinks near the Superior Courthouse?

Hi - I have to be at the Superior Courthouse (on Pemberton Street, I think) in a few weeks and I'd love to find a place for drinks in the evening. Any suggestions?

Thanks, everyone.

Outdoor cafe or casual dining?

Hey - So I'm pretty new here and a friend (also new, from California) and I were wondering if there are places in Boston/Cambridge where you could sit outdoors, have coffee or a bite and watch the world go by. Like in Greenwich Village. I'm thinking more sidewalk than patio.

Thanks, everyone.

Northern Atlanta suburbs - culinary wasteland??

Hello everyone -

My parents just moved north of Atlanta (to a place called Hoschton - must be really out there since I can't get them the NY Times delivered) and with Mother's Day coming up (and me in Massachusetts), I thought I'd send them out to lunch or dinner. I need a nice seafood or steak restaurant, and I'd rather not make them drive 35 miles down to Atlanta. Any suggestions? They're near the Mall of Georgia, if that helps you geographically (I don't think it helps culinarily - there doesn't seem to be a good restaurant in the mall).

Thanks, as always, for your help.

Communion lunch - need recommendations (Western suburbs)!

Hello everyone -

My son is receiving his first communion in May and the grandparents are coming into town for it and I need to find some place for us all to have lunch! Italian would be ideal, but American is good too, and I need a restaurant that can accommodate all of the generations. And not too expensive would be great too.

I have heard La Campagna in Waltham is very yummy, but is it kid-friendly?

Thanks, so much.

St. Joseph's Day Pastry - Western Suburbs

Hello -

So today is St. Joseph's Day and my husband is named Joe and I need to find him a St. Joseph's pastry but I can't head into Boston (I'm in Lexington) because I've got to run the kids around - usual suburban routine. Does anyone know of any baker in the Western suburbs that might have a St. Joseph's Pastry? I called a few in Arlington but no luck. Thanks everyone.

Need to send a fruit basket!

Hi - I know this isn't a typical Chowhound question, and I apologize, but I need to send a fruit basket to a coworker who just had hip surgery. Any suggestions? She lives in Boston. Thanks, everyone!

Cocktail party food ideas? - help!

Hello all -

I'm having a little holiday get-together and need some menu suggestions. I'm going to make a chili and some beer bread, and have a large salad, and then the usual finger foods, but since I asked people for roughly dinner time, I think I need some more substantial fare. Does anyone have a tried and true? I'm not the world's best cook, and I've got three little ones so I don't have a ton of time.

Thanks!

Eating out the kids + nice place = impossible?

Thanks for the suggestions. Anything in the 'burbs? I'm in the western suburbs. I'll check out ES - I'm trying not to make it too expensive an evening . . .

bargain?

Are there falafel sandwiches to be had anywhere in Beantown or around? Falafel is always a great deal . . .

Eating out the kids + nice place = impossible?

Hey everyone -

So our babysitter bailed on us and we have friends from NYC coming to visit, which means I need a decent restaurant where I can bring young ones (10, 7 and 4 - well behaved, but they are kids). Any suggestions? Otherwise, it's Joe's American . . .

Thank you!

Holiday treats?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have been to Wilson Farms - they have great produce and breads - but I haven't tried their prepared things (I did try one of their cakes from the fridge and was underwhelmed). Has anyone tried their prepared stuff?

Holiday treats?

Hello everyone -

So, new to town and having a little holiday get-together. Any suggestions on where to pick up some yummy tidbits? I'm in the Western 'burbs (Lexington). And can I ask for recipe suggestions here, or is that beyond the scope of the chowhound board? I'm thinking more cocktail-party type stuff, not sit-down.

Thanks, everyone, as always.

Happy holidays!

Han Ah Reum

Hey foodies -

Someone told me that there is a Han Ah Reum in Cambridge, but a Google search and one on Chowhound uncovered nothing. Any help out there?? Please!! I went to Reliable and was underwhelmed - I'm looking for more prepared Korean food (yes, I am Korean, but no, I don't cook Korean). Thanks, everyone.

BiBimBap!

Along these lines, is there any market/restaurant where I can get bibimbap, man doo, bulgogi to go? I tried some at Reliable Market this week and it was sour. Who would believe I miss New Jersey?

Need a Korean market - desperately!

Hmm - I must have missed a comma or something - I AM from NY but I just wanted a regular deli and a regular bagel place. Toto, I guess I'm not in NY anymore.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. Reliable Market - here I come!

Need a Korean market - desperately!

Hey -

So I just moved to the Boston suburbs, and I'm going through Korean grocery store (and deli, and bagel, BTW) withdrawal. Can anyone help? I'm in Lexington, so something in Middlesex County would be best - Arlington, Somerville . . .

Inexpensive Italian for anniversary - Boston suburbs

This is my first experience with Chowhound and I'm so surprised and grateful at the quick response! Thanks everyone!

Inexpensive Italian for anniversary - Boston suburbs

Hello everyone -

So we just moved to Lexington and we're looking for some place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. With the new place, we don't have a lot of coin in our pocket, so we're looking for something not too crazy expensive. I'd heard some good things about Sweet Basil in Needham, but the no dessert thing makes me nervous. Any other suggestions? Or any suggestions for a favorite, not too expensive, restaurant in the Boston suburbs? Thanks.
