Food in Newark Airport?

Wow, that will be quite a change! I was at EWR twice last week and it was really an eating wasteland. I haven't been to the Ironbound in years, and I never think of stopping there on the way to or from the airport. But I sometimes choose to fly out of PHL instead just so I can grab a meal in South Philly before or after the flight (I live in Mercer Cty).

Princeton new restaurant

Arepo, How was Sweet Grass? I'm planning to go this weekend. Any suggestions from the menu?

Seaside...Berkeley Restaurant & Fish Market to close

I'll have to make a trip to Island Beach State Park before the end of the season! It's a family tradition to each at Berkeley Restaurant after a day at the beach.

Ricky's Thai in Montgomery

It's actually across the road (Rte. 206) from the movies and the Shop Rite center. There is a newly constructed building in that plaza that includes Ricky's. The Chinese restaurant you're remembering is YaYa Noodles, which is still in the Shop Rite plaza near the movies. So is Sahara, a middle eastern restaurant, which is convenient for a post-movie meal, too.

Ricky's Thai in Montgomery

Okay, I'll respond to my own post! Went after a movie last night (party of 4) and ordered 5 "appertizers," as they were called on the menu, and 3 entrees. We experienced the typical problem of not knowing how hot to order the dishes and/or inconsistency in the spiciness. The spicy duck appetizer was not at all spicy, but the "level 4" jungle curry with squid was definitely hotter than the "level 5" duck special. That said, we enjoyed the dishes, hot or not, and decided Ricky's is better than Thai Village in Princeton (not saying much IMHO), so is the best Thai near us. More upscale (and expensive) than some of the others farther away (not an authentic gem in the rough like Four Seasons in Piscataway). It's more similar to Ploy Siam in Robbinsville, but not as big. I'd have to go again to decide which of the two I prefer. But it was not, unfortunately, really outstanding. We ate early, but by the time we left at 6:30 or so, it was filling up nicely, and take-out business seemed brisk.

Princeton's elements - planning relocation

I wonder what will happen to the current site of elements?

Brunch/lunch spots around Menlo Park or Edison NJ?

LePeep is still there, but I haven't been in (20+) years. Skylark would be my recommendation, too. Healthy, innovative diner food in a fun atmosphere.

Ricky's Thai in Montgomery

I noticed this new opening as I drove by on 206. It is a good location, opposite the Montgomery Cinemas. Has anyone been?

Foodie Spots in Princeton

I had an equally bland carrot soup earlier this month. It was supposed to have curry-infused oil, but I couldn't discern any hint of curry or salt or pepper--or much carrot. (As a contrast, the last batch of carrots that I got from my CSA farm last fall are still in my vegetable cellar and are amazingly sweet and carroty.) My mother was not happy with her "sous vide" fried chicken--at least that was the explanation she got for why it was uncooked in the middle (from a very condescending manager). To their credit, they took the chicken off the bill, which was generous because her grandson was happily munching on his share and even had the leftovers packed to take home!
There are some things on the menu that I love--the butternut squash flatbread for one. And their cocktails are very well made if expensive.

Tamales for Christmas?

We went to La Costeñita for lunch, and it was great! Picaditas with chicken in chipotle sauce was nicely picante and smoky. Will definitely return to try more of their menu. They do "fiesta platters" of all kinds of things, including tamales: chicken, pork, seafood, and sweet ones, some in corn husks and others in banana leaves.

Tamales for Christmas?

Thanks all for the suggestions. I've arranged to get my tamales this year from my friend's sister-in-law (from Guatemala), who makes them at home and will deliver them on Christmas Eve.

Tamales for Christmas?

Our Williams-Sonoma definitely doesn't carry tamales. So envious of your culinary choices. Love the food in NM!

Tamales for Christmas?

I've tried the frozen tamales at our TJ's and they're pretty good, but I was hoping for fresh homemade. Does the TJ's in NM carry homemade?

Tamales for Christmas?

Any ideas for where to order or take out for home consumption? I'm in Princeton, and I've bought them from the Mexican store in the Trenton Farmers Market, but she only has them on Fridays.

I'm always interested in restaurants that have great tamales on the menu too. I've tried Guatemalan and Mexican--love them both!

Thai Restaurant in Monmouth County compared to Four Seasons In Piscataway

Funny, we went last Saturday and thought the food wasn't that spicy. The noodles and green curry had a little kick, the third dish, a meat and eggplant combo, was absolutely bland. We ordered all three medium. We usually order hot at other Thai places. I hadn't been to Four Seasons for years, but I remember fondly having great lunches there when it first opened and I lived in the area.

Italian lunch on Sunday near Princeton?

Camillo's appears not to be open for lunch on Sundays. So we'll get to try Antimo's after all. We're actually meeting up in Montgomery, so it will be an easy drive on 518. I'm looking forward to it-thanks again!

Italian lunch on Sunday near Princeton?

Thanks, Foody! I hadn't even thought of Mezzaluna or Camillo's. I haven't ever tried either despite being a long-time Princeton resident. I had thought of Café Graziella, but I also haven't eaten there in a long time, and I remember eating in an empty dining room the last time I was there. I have a friend who LOVES Camillo's, so I might give that a try.

Italian lunch on Sunday near Princeton?

Visitors coming to Princeton from N. Jersey on Sunday would like to go out for an Italian lunch. Problem is some of our favorites are closed, and Teresa's is serving brunch until 3pm. Any suggestions? We could travel north of Princeton to eat (since it would be closer for them to drive home from), but don't want to go south.

Non-chain food in Towson?

Any suggestions for a breakfast, lunch or dinner? We're visiting Goucher College over two weekdays. Adventurous eaters, and enjoy good beers.

Decatur

My husband and I will be visiting the Agnes Scott campus next month with our daughter. We won't have a car, but we hear that there are plenty of great Decatur restaurants within walking distance. Looking for a Saturday night dinner for the three of us and Sunday dinner for the two parents. Adventurous eaters, and Dad likes to try good local beers.

Amazing Peruvian in Lambertville

My family and I went there on Saturday night and really enjoyed the Peruvian menu. The place was full and we had to wait about 10 minutes for our 6:45 reservation; by the time we left there were one or two empty tables, so I'd suggest coming a bit later. The mixed ceviche was awesome, and I loved that it was served with the traditional red onions, sweet potato and big corn kernels. My husband had a delicious lamb dish special and our daughter the chicken escabeche. We will definitely come back--so much more to try!

80th Birthday dinner in Central NJ?

It's my mother's 80th birthday next month and my sister and family will be in town to celebrate on a Saturday night. We're a party of 10, which includes two grandchildren under 8 but the rest are adults or have adult palates/appetites. My mother's first choice was Origins Thai in Somerville, but they can't manage a group of that size on a Saturday night. We're all adventurous eaters, and with small kids someplace not too upscale would be best. Any suggestions?
