Popular flavors that you don't care for

goat cheese, any flavor in coffee (also the smell), butternut squash, lentil soup, arugula, Papa John's pizza (no taste whatsoever regardless of toppings), tea of any kind (what is the point?), also campari, any sweet wine, hazelnuts, especially in nutella.

Goat cheese haters?

I'm so glad I'm not the only person in USA who absolutely hates this stuff. I've tried every known goat cheese known to man because I thought it was just the cheese and not me. It was the cheese. I also have a love/hate relationship to cilantro and absolutely hate diet sodas and have tried for years to "get used to them". Never going to happen. Always wondered if there was some relationship in these notably unrelated foods.

Bored with my pork tenderloin

Being from KY, my favorite way to prepare is a marinade of 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup of bourbon, 2 TBS brown sugar, 2 garlic cloves, smashed, and sometimes I add some grated fresh ginger and a little veg oil if I'm going to grill it. Marinate for 1 hour, up to 12 hours, then either roast uncovered in oven at 325 for 1 hour in the marinade, turning it over after 30 mins; or put it on the grill for about 30 to 40 mins until it reaches proper temp. I boil the marinade for about 10 mins and use it to paint the meat during grilling. Really good with a lovely sauce of mayo, sour cream, shallots, some vinegar and some dry mustard. Also wonderful cold on a bun the next day with the sauce.

What to do with a giant cast iron Dutch oven?

Whatever you do, don't heat it on the stovetop without some liquid in it. My le creuset that I've had for 3 years popped several pieces of enamel during the heating process - and it was only on medium. Otherwise, loved the pan and used it constantly.

Beef stock

Wow, all of you really rock. Did roast the meat and vegs at 425 for 40 mins. Had the usual vegs: carrots, celery, onion, and a bouqet garni from the garden. The stock did gel in the fridge big time. Did not salt the stock but did the soup. I made Paula Deen's veg soup a few weeks ago which started with chuck roast and added beef granules (with MSG) and it was delicious.
And you're right about the price of shanks and even oxtails (which are a little creepy if you think about it). I will look for beef soup bones next time and report back. Thanks for all the input.

What's your favourite Lasagna recipe from a cookbook?

I love the sausage and ground meat lasagna from ATK. Pretty labor intensive, but well worth the effort. Found it in one of their cookbook compilations.

Beef stock

I spent the entire day making beef stock with oxtails and beef shanks and it smelled heavenly. So, today, I made vegetable soup with some of the stock and the end result was bland - none of the wonderful flavor one would expect. What am I doing wrong and why the bland soup? Thanks.

Le Creuset Casserole

Thanks much. I didn't pour anything in the pot before it lost it's enamel coating and have never put it in the oven over 350. Maybe just an anomaly (sp?). Thanks for the phone number. Will call them.

Le Creuset Casserole

I have a 3 year old Le Creuset casserole pot which has been well-used but never abused over the years. Today, while heating it on the stovepot to saute onions, etc. I heard a pop, pop, pop and when I looked, discovered that the porcelain coating had literally popped off in places. Has this happened to anyone else and is there anything that can be done to restore the porcelain coating? (yes, I live in a dream world)
