Frank Enbean's Profile
Venue for dinner meeting for 5 people - Waltham / Rt 128 area?
It's gone. Now an irish pub/bar "Waxy O'Connor's".
So....did anyone try the BRICKYARD in Woburn Yet ??
I went the other night. Had a regular burger. I ordered it medium it came out well done. The lettuce, tomato and onion are served on the side. The lettuce was shredded, the onion was 1 or 2 individual rings and the tomato was very thinly sliced and very green (unripe). The fries were like McDonald's style and were served cold.
My wife got a pizza. It was very "wet". The crust was decent but the toppings were soggy.
They were out of several bottled beers on their beer list. Kind of odd considering this was their third night open.
All in all, I was disappointed. The burger seemed small and was dwarfed by the giant brioche bun. When you specialize in two things (pizza and burgers) I think they must be outstanding. Lame tomato, overcooked burger, cold previously frozen fries just don't cut it. Especially for 9.95.
When I think of a great "burger bar" I think of the Met in Dedham's Legacy place. Exotic toppings and combinations and juicy, perfectly cooked burgers.
Also, the tap water has an awful off-taste that my wife noticed along with patrons at surrounding tables.
I hope they improve as I really want to love this place. I simply can't overlook these glaring misses.
Turducken availability?
They have boneless ones at Fresh Market in the Hingham Shipyard.
Grumpy Doyle's Reading - Good Management
They have fantastic fish and chips, I must say.
I had outstanding service during my 2 visits but am glad to hear they are doing the right thing for you.
Grumpy Doyle's Reading
I did make it there on opening night. It was quite loud by the time I left (about 9:00 pm). It is 70% bar and 30% restaurant. I was seated at a high-top in the bar area. Lots of interesting beers on draught. I got a Long Trail and noticed an odd chemical smell that was reminiscent of cleaning or sanitizing solution. The taste was ok, but I figured it might have been a bad glass or something. My second beer did not smell but my third did. I never mentioned anything to the server and just shrugged it off.
I had the Shepherd's Pie. It was about a B or B+. Good meat, nicely browned whipped potatoes on top, but nothing to get too excited about.
All in all, it seems like a more "upscale" alternative to the 99 with pricing about the same, or maybe a buck or 2 higher.
I will certainly return for a beer and a burger some day, but am not in a hurry to highly recommend it.
Grumpy Doyle's Reading
I may check it out tonight and will provide a report tomorrow
Sam's Bistro in Reading - First Impression.
Based on this, I had to try Sam's. I just returned and I have to say my experience was fantastic.
Sat in the dining room and was pleasantly surprised by the the atmosphere. Very clean, very neutral, very new.
Very prompt and attentive service. Server seemed knowledgeable about the menu and mentioned the chef is from the Cheesecake Factory in Burlington (not sure if that's good or bad).
I had the "Wagyu Flat Iron Steak". It was cooked perfectly to my liking (medium rare), was nicely seasoned and was outrageously tender and delicious. Yes, it was $32, but I kept thinking "this would be $48 at Capital Grill". I got to choose 2 sides and I went with 4 cheese risotto (very nice) and creamed spinach (delicious- well seasoned with salt and garlic and not too creamy).
I say give it a shot. A bit pricey, yes, but my steak was fantastic. A most pleasant night out, without having to drive too far.
A good lobster roll near the Kittery outlets?
I highly recommend the jumbo lobster roll at Robert's Maine Grill, across the street from Bob's, on the northbound side of Rt1 near the Banana Republic/Gap outlets. It was really good and worth the $$ to upgrade from the regular. I was so awestruck by its beauty, I took a quick picture with my cell phone and emailed the manager a day later with my high praise. The onion rings were also impressive.
Dinner suggestions for Needham - Wellesley area
Try The Cottage in Wellesley. Be sure to order either the granola crusted mahi-mahi (unreal) or the fish tacos (solid).
Any Sushi buffet or all you can eat in Boston or around?
7 Nana Steakhouse in Billerica has an all you can eat option every night. Strange name for a restaurant, but I have been 3 times for the all you can eat and have found varying quality, ranging from below average to slightly better than average.

Wilmington transformation...yuppy ingredients at Market Basket
It's literally 50 yards from the Market Basket entrance, between CVS and McDonald's.
Wilmington transformation...yuppy ingredients at Market Basket

Baja style fish taco?
Try the fish tacos at the Cottage in Wellesley. Only a 20-25 minute drive from Woburn.

You must try the homemade pasta. I was there a few weeks ago and was blown away by the quality. I had a ravioli-like pasta stuffed with a butternut squash and spice mixture. It was outstanding. Great service and a very nice atmosphere made for a fantastic night out.
H-Mart Burlington!!!
I was there this past Sunday around 2:00 pm. There are giant signs in the Market Basket lot indicating no parking for H-Mart. There were 2 police officers directing traffic near the entrance of the H-Mart lot and directed me right to a perfect spot. It was crowded, but much less so than when they first opened.
I got some great frozen mussels, scallion pancakes and octopus flavored potato chips, amongst other things. Fun!
Designer Donuts? - moved from Boston board
I have to agree. Donna's in Tewksbury is a great choice. They are very fresh and the cheeseburger donut is always a hit!
Maine Shrimp at Market Basket Through Saturday
Just got more at Whole Foods in Andover. They look a little larger than the Market Basket ones.
Maine Shrimp at Market Basket Through Saturday
Just got them at MB in Wilmington.
My first time ever trying these beauties. Absolutely delicious.
New Sandwich Shop in Andover?
I tried it a week ago. I got the italian sub. It was very good! Fresh italian cold cuts and very good veggies (tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, etc.)
Only down side was the price...$7. But, it's downtown Andover and it seemed to be very fresh.
Duck Walk, why have you forsaken me?
Sushi Island right next door is a much better bet. Especially on Friday nights with the live music!
Any Recent Experiences with Sintra in Braintree?
I absolutely love Sintra.
You simply can't go wrong with anything there. The service is always excellent. The wine choices are always interesting and I've never been less than completely satisfied with the food.
Parking is available in a lot right behind the restaurant...never had an issue with that.
The prices are very reasonable and I recommend this all the time to colleagues in my office that live in the area.
Interesting Lemonades
I'm a huge fan of the lemonade at Chick Fil-A. Call me crazy, but I can drink a gallon of that in less than 5 minutes.
Minado for a sushi virgin?
I've been to Minado in Natick a few times in the last 3 years. I have to say I am a fan. It's lively, inexpensive for the quantity you can consume and it all tastes good.
Is it the best sushi in the state? No. Is it good enough that you won't leave thinking it's bad? Yes. Quantity over quality is a trade off I'm willing to accept the few times a year I venture to Natick.
Golden Ginger-Wilmington-Any reviews?
I went the other night. I was very pleased with the quality and presentation of the sushi. It's definitely not as good as Sushi Island, but no better or worse than Mandarin Reading.
The atmosphere is nice. The bar has a few flat screen tv's and the decor is mostly booths.
Seems more like an asian restaurant with a small sushi bar rather than a dedicated sushi restaurant.
I did notice the sushi chefs referencing the menu to double-check what goes into each roll, but I'm OK with that given the newness of the restaurant.
For the record, a total of 4 rolls, 6 pieces of sushi, 2 beers and a Blue Hawaiian came out to about $48 with tax.
I will return.
Golden Ginger-Wilmington-Any reviews?
About a quarter mile north of the Wilmington commuter rail stop.
Golden Ginger-Wilmington-Any reviews?
Well, I headed over and realized that I failed to see that it said July 20 on the Grand Opening sign.
Anyone know anything about this place? I am always on the prowl for off the beaten path sushi.
Golden Ginger-Wilmington-Any reviews?
I drove by Golden Ginger on Main St. in Wilmington today and saw a grand opening sign. It's in the new plaza with Staples, Dollar Tree and Starbucks. It says Asian, Lounge and Sushi or something like that. A google of the name returns a google maps location and a phone, but no websites could be found.
What's the story? Anyone know or been?
I may take one for the Chowhound team tonight and will update, but I'm hesitant.
