Where to find good whole bean coffee in Montgomery County, MD?

Oooooh kolaches! My two main places were the Czech Stop off of I-35 near Waco and a place in Lagrange on US 71 between Austin and I-10. Delicious!

I ate there for lunch yesterday myself! I'm a big fan of Royal Bagel, be it donuts, bagels, or sandwiches.

looking for unpastuerized apple cider

Some good information in here, but are any of these places located in the Montgomery County, MD area or adjacent counties (Howard and Frederick)? I'm looking to find some good fresh pressed cider to make hard cider with.

TransTex,

I knew that BBQ would be a biggie moving here. I have found the Black Hog, though, in Frederick, which has decent brisket and North Carolina BBQ.

One thing that is much better here than in NC is the selection of local donut shops. The Raleigh-Durham area, and North Carolina in general, is a wasteland for non-corporate donuts. I've hit Royal Bagel Bakery and Deli in Germantown numerous times and Yummy Donuts off of Muncaster Mill Road makes some good ones as well. There's plenty of others I haven't even tried yet. It's been a long time since I lived in Texas, but I remember local donut shops in Houston and Austin in the 80s and 90s being pretty common.

Thanks for the heads up on Shoppers Food, Magruders, and MOMs.

Thanks for all of the replies! I picked up a bag of Mayorga at Whole Foods weekend before last. Pretty decent stuff. I should have checked this thread again before this weekend, because we were in North Bethesda on Sunday.

I need to get my mindset away from the style of coffee selection I was used to getting back in Chapel Hill, where the Whole Foods and a place called Southern Season each had easily 30-40+ bulk whole bean coffees arrayed in one place. It seems that up here, one has to do a bit more searching, going to individual roasters. I've heard of Quartermaine's before, so they're next on my list to try.

Also, not being able to buy beer or wine in the grocery store is crazy weird! I'd love to go by a Total Wine, but I'm not going to drive to Virginia to do it.

We've just moved to the area from North Carolina and are trying to get the lay of the land. I was used to going to the Whole Foods and Southern Season stores in Chapel Hill for a great selection of coffee, but when we stopped by the Whole Foods in the Kentlands a couple of weeks ago, their whole bean coffee selection was sorely lacking.

I checked out a thread here and read about Mayorga, Zekes, Second Swings as some local roasters. Anyone know what retail stores in Montgomery County sell any of these brands, apart from actually visiting their stores?
