5/15/12 Rosa Mexicano Report
Nice report op-chef. Need to get there. My mouth is watering to try the brown rice, as most Mex restaurants don't do rice all that great.

BEst Meatballs (Italian) Needham, Newton, W. Rox, etc
I totally beleive in the "wife, mother & grandmother" thing, but two places come to mind. Unfortunately, not in the area the OP is seeking. The Venetian in Weymouth has very good meatballs, as does (and go figure), Alba in Quincy Center. Alba's is kind of a head-scratcher, but they are quite good. Sorry I couldn't come up with anything closer.

What is the appeal of Fox and Hound???
The place is absolutely awful. Sorry you had to take one for the team. But now you know. Nothing that's been there since the original F&H has not been even close to good. Too bad. So convenient to me.

contemporary French
Bistro du Midi may work for you. Good location, contemporary menu, good service and interesting wine list. Very nice room.

Where can I find Boston's best and freshest fried haddock plate?
You got it right Peg. Burkes is really, really good, and really, really fresh. It's also not a far walk from the red line in North Quincy.

Best Fresh Bagels In Boston?
Rosenfeld's in Newton and Katz's in Chelsea. The only ways to go. They are hands down the best Boston has to offer.

South Shore Iced Coffee
My local favorite iced and hot coffee is the "Mud House" on Neponset Ave., right near Neponset Circle. May not be considered South Shore, but close enough.

Never had a problem finding a space on the street near Angela's Cafe. Lunch or dinner! It's a little tricky finding it, but a gps will get you there if you really want Mexican food.

"d-bar'-vous, all over again!
Hey Hampster, You may be right, but he's still in charge of the menu according to the waiters. I think I saw him peek out of the kitchen Saturday night.

"d-bar'-vous, all over again!
Chris Coombs is the chef, and a a pretty creative guy. Changes the specials frequently. Did I mention "free parking" on site. Check it out.

"d-bar'-vous, all over again!
After not dining there for slightly over a year we thought there would be some new menu items. We were right, and the menu tweeks were a real nice surprise. Started off with their usual chewy Italian bread and their 3 dipping oils. Always good. Add a well made, slightly dirty martini, and we're off to the races. Next came a 5 veggie salad in a crunchy potato bowl with green goddess dressing. Plenty for 2 to share, and boy was it tasty. We both had nightly specials. My wife had the "homemade" sausage with asparagus, ramps and orecchiette pasta in a deliciously herby sauce. I had the muscles over "homemade" angel hair pasta with asparagus and baby spring onions in a lightly garlicy sauce. Got more bread to dip up the sauce to a spotlessly clean bowl. The "homemade" angel hair was some of the very best I've had (almost a good as my Nona's). Desert was a strawberry, rhubarb tart with "homemade" lavender ice cream.
Can't wait to get back. Will definately have more of the angel hair pasta with anything.

4PM on a Friday should be easy to get into Angel's Cafe in East Boston for my favorite Mexican food in the area. Small, but at that hour, a small group would fit. Puebla style menu and very good. A board favorite.

Close to Mid-Town.
How's Charlie Palmer's Aureole these days? Don't hear much about it. Enjoyed it last time we were there.

Close to Mid-Town.
Need a recommendation for a place to dine this Saturday night. Creative American or Italian (but not red sauce). Good steakhouse that serves up other entrees or interesting gastropub will also do. Mid to high price range (but not moonshots). Will have an 18 year old with us. Thanks in Advance.

Between Cape and Boston
If you want really good food, really good atmosphere and really good bar service, go to "Solstice" in Kingston. It's really good. And, it's half way between Boston and the Cape.

Casa Romero?
Have had some very good meals there over the years. Find it to be very expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants in the city. I do like their Margaritas. Usually go before a Sox game when we're in the mood for Mex. Still good, not great, still go!

Grill 23 Restaurant Week
Believe me, I hear what you and MC are saying. I guess I've been in business long enough to know when it's good to lose a deal hear and there. RW would be one not to be part of. I'll just stay away.

Grill 23 Restaurant Week
I'm not sure I understand "feeling the pain of the restauranteurs". Isn't RW supposed to be a promotion of how great their restaurant is so maybe they'll entice you to come back? I was always taught that P/R is what gets you customers. I would think they'd put their best foot forward.

PAD THAI HANCOCK ST. QUINCY?
That's the place. Heard from a friend today that he ate there this past weekend and really liked it. Had PadThai w/ grilled lobster meat. Very fresh and delicious was his description. Say's it's a must try. Will report back when I do.

So tired of the Umberto's Love.....
I agree that everyone's entitled to their opinion, but this is one pizza I haven't seen duplicated anywhere in the Boston area. Always hot, always delicious. And, like J. O. glad to have one less person in line in front of me.
