My wife and I have stopped in here for drinks and a bit of a rest stop after a day spent wandering in the neighbourhood. While we were there I took some photos of the fabulous models that are packed into every nook and cranny. Friends of ours have seen the photos and want to check it out when they are in Rome later this spring. Their question was whether it was worth planning to have dinner there one the evenings they're in town. Our visit consisted of drinks and snack items though what we saw coming out of the kitchen certainly looked good and the service was certainly very friendly. Could anyone who has eaten there provide some feedback that I can pass along. |

I've enjoyed their location on Queen East so I'm glad to hear that the new Davisville location is keeping up its end. |

My wife and I ate there in mid may and had a great time. The food was first rate in taste, freshness and presentation. The staff was very friendly and helpful for two people whose italian is pretty creaky. We took advantage of one of the tasting menus which allowed us to try a number of their dishes. The composition of each was explained to us by our server and the individual dishes were served at a pace that didn't make us feel rushed. |

Rome - Anniversary Dinner recommendations? My wife and I are staying in Rome for two weeks (may 6 - 20) in an apartment in Trastevere on Via della Pellicia. Our anniversary falls in the middle of our trip and we'd like to go out to an interesting restaurant to celebrate it. Since we are staying in an apartment our intention is to cook our evening meals at home and do most of our dining out over lunches in places we find in whatever corner of the city we are in that day. In terms of the anniversary dinner I'm not looking for something totally deluxe but rather options that combine great food choices, friendly staff and interesting atmosphere/ambiance. I've read through much of the Rome discussions on the board and checked out whatever websites that were available (what did we do before the internet?) but it all seems a bit daunting. We are willing and able to travel to different areas of the city and don't need to make the evening a big splash in a name restaurant, in fact, the eating experience that we remember most fondly from our last trip to Rome (11 years ago) was a dinner we had in a small restaurant on a street north of the Colosseum that had about 8 tables with the husband working the front of the room and the wife in the kitchen. I can't remember the name of the restaurant or the street but we enjoyed that meal as much as other dinners we had in 'name' restaurants. As I said previously, opinions and suggestions will be gladly accepted. |

Travelling to Rome in October 2011 My wife and I are visiting Rome for three weeks this October. I'd appreciate hearing people's recommendations for good, non-touristy spots to eat. We've rented an apartment on via della Lungara near Ponte Mazzini but we're mobile and plan on checking out many of the other neighbourhoods in the city. We're also planning on cooking at home as well. It looks to me like Campo d' Fiori and the Ghetto are the closest spots for food shopping. Are there particular stores people would recommend? Neither of us have food allergies. |
