Table salt free diet and eating out

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but I think we're done now.

Table salt free diet and eating out

Eating a Pop Tart in your house cannot possibly be construed as home cooking.

Table salt free diet and eating out

Patients with heart disease are often consuming too much salt and their doctors wish to bring it down to a recommended level. You assume these people are consuming recommended amounts of salt and their doctors want them to consume zero salt. You really ought to read more about this topic.

Best tasting broth sold in a store?

I like Swanson Organic. I tried Kitchen Basics and it had an overwhelmingly chickeny flavor. Very off putting.

Second Samantha's. Love their carne asada!

Where to buy harissa?

I get my harissa paste from Amazon, too.

Recs near Hyatt Regency on Loyola?

I stayed here during Jazz Fest and loved it. It's a surprisingly nice hotel and a very short cab ride to the CBD and French Quarter. You *could* walk but it's at least a mile and I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods and didn't try it.

Southern Ingredients: What should I pick up when I'm in VA next week

Of course! I think grocery stores are a window into people's lives- not just the touristy stuff you're "supposed" to see.

What would YOU do??

Love it. And diamond plating is always classy.

Mouse in the restaurant's dining room.... [moved from Manhattan board]

I wouldn't care. My mom and I were at a local bakery a few years ago and had run into an old family friend. We were all catching up when our friend pointed out a mouse scurrying around. My mom asked the owner for a disposable cup, scooped it up, and deposited it outside while we all continued chatting. I think the owner was more aghast at our reaction than at the mouse. I grew up in the country. Mice get in. At least this one had good taste!

Differences in terminology

A pie is a pretty specific regional term. I've only heard it in Philadelphia and never where I live (northern Virginia near DC).

Are Plate Chargers Passé?

I think the rattan ones are great for cookouts but I personally wouldn't have any use for the fancy ones.

Why oh why did you not use my host(ess) gift at your dinner party?

We must.

Why oh why did you not use my host(ess) gift at your dinner party?

Please. Roz would accompany you to the bathroom and chat with you while you did the deed. That's what a polite host does.

Why oh why did you not use my host(ess) gift at your dinner party?

Roz really is a cautionary tale. Whenever I'm about to do something that might vex others, I ask myself, "WWRD?" and then I do the opposite.

You know what? That's actually awesome. Toilet paper would be much more useful than another candle. I'm not sure I could muster the courage to give it to someone I didn't know well, though...

Why oh why did you not use my host(ess) gift at your dinner party?

Dude. She's awful. Stop being shocked that she's awful. If you invited a lion to dinner and nibbled on your face, you wouldn't be surprised, right? Roz isn't going to stop being a twit any more than the lion is going to reconsider eating your ears as an amuse.

Looking for a delicious new restaurant for a date night

You could search Open Table with your parameters.

Adding whole tomatoes to Indian-style rice? Am I crazy?

I'd go for it with the tomatoes. And probably the raisins too. Raisins hang out in a tagine, so why not a rice cooker? The worst thing that can happen is a messy rice cooker. Let us know how it turns out!

New California law allows dogs to dine out

Funnily enough, I never see adults sitting in cars with the windows cracked on warm/hot days (I certainly wouldn't!), but people think dogs will do just fine with it. Dogs...the creatures covered in fur and lacking an efficient cooling mechanism. It makes me nuts.

New California law allows dogs to dine out

Very good point. It infuriates me to see people harming their pets like this. There are so many ways to avoid leaving your pet in a car that no pet should suffer like this. A year or so ago, a vet posted a YouTube video with himself in a car on a "nice" day and he documented his physical response for about 30 minutes. It was incredibly compelling and really drove home this issue for me.

New California law allows dogs to dine out

It's not okay to leave your dog (or any animal) in the car. It may have seemed like a nice day out to you but Sunshine attached a great graph that shows how hot it was to your dog. It can be deadly. When you travel with animals, you adjust how you shop and dine.

Nah. I only view CH on my phone so I can't see profiles, anyway.

Where to stop for lunch on the way to Air&Space?

Yeah, I love Mitsitam but it's pricey.

VA BBQ that isn't Rocklands or Dixie Bones

Yeah, he's really popular- I'm not surprised to hear he had sold out of a lot of products. I'll be sure to check out the Maine lobster truck.

What I Learned After Taking a Homeless Mother Grocery Shopping

Yes! My local food bank loves grocery store gift cards for $10. I try to grab a couple each month and drop them off every 5 or 6 months since they don't expire. People need to stop donating weird crap they unearth from the back of their pantries and donate food they would actually eat.

Should you drain the water from the peas?

Nope- you want a nice liquid in the dal. Please let us know how it tastes!
