La Rosa Nautica (Peruvian) - Greenacres
Was down in Lakeworth this past weekeend and stopped in at this storefront. Had read about them on idine.com. When we arrived for dinner there was nobody in the main room of the restaurant, but a family celebration (non-Peruvian I might add) was in the other room.
They have a liquor license but no problem bringing your own wine (no corkage fee) which we did. Salted Peruvian corn nuts on the table were great. Two appetizers - Yucca Frita a la Huancaina (fried yucca topped with cheese and yelloow pepper sauce was delish. Other app was Anticuchos (grilled chunks of beef hearts sauteed and seasoned with Peruvian spices - was good, but not delish. Mains were Pescado a Lo Macho/MaleFish (a large filet of fish pan fried combined with calamari, scallops, and shrimp in some kind of sauce) - again deelish. And Lomo Saltado - very good. Everything was very fresh. Service at the beginning a little slow as they had that party in the next room, but once the food started arriving it was fine. People very friendly.
Prices very reasonable and worth a visit for something different in the neighborhood!
Southern Italian in Nassau County
Thanks - I know that, but it seems everything I'm coming up with seems to be Northern Italian. North Shore is preferable. Thanks!
Southern Italian in Nassau County
A friend of mine is looking for a good Southern Italian restaurant in Nassau for a group of 10 on a Saturday nite in May (future in-laws all getting together). Any suggestions? thanks!
anything new in Aruba
Been going for umpteen years, love food and have been to probably 75% of the restaurants (which are too many to mention), but favorites off the top of my head are:
Carte Blanche
Yemanja
Barefoot
Bingos
Chalet Suisse
Papillion
Tomato Charlies (pizza)
Que Pasa
Old Fisherman
Papamiento
Enjoy!
New in Aruba?
I have been going for years and have been to most of the restaurants at least once and some many times. There are some new ones this year....Mirpas, 2 Fools and a Bull, Carambola, Barneys, Blue Lobster and Delimar (these are the ones I am aware of). Anybody have any advice? Thanks!!
anything good in Port Washington/Roslyn area?
Wild Honey is deelish. Have been there several times. Recently also went to the restauarant that replaced Bistro Toulouse....Bistro Etcetera. Two great appetizers and two good entrees. Nice space and service. And if you haven't tried La Piccola Liguria, add that to your list. In Roslyn, like MP Taverna alot, but very noisy.
LAKE WORTH AREA (AGAIN)
Heading back down this weekend.....anything new? Do like the downtown Lake Worth area.
Have been to Cuocco Pazzo, Rustica Italiano, The Cottage, Dave's Last Resort. Not looking to drive far and wide...so anything nearby would be great (Wellington, etc).
Thanks.
Aruba - looking for recs
Also go to Aruba every year and also not a fan of Flying Fishbone. Almost all of Aruba is casual. Would recommend Wacky Wahoo as well. Another very casual and relatively inexpensive place (for Aruba) that I like is Bingo's....have the hamburger! Yemanja Wood Fire Grill is another favorite. Old Fisherman (downtown) - great grilled fish, many locals eat here. Maybe Barefoot instead of Flying Fishbone?
Other
Vegas - 4 Dinners!
Going to Vegas beginning of November with my 81 year old Mom (who is by no means a typical 81 year old Mom!). I've been there about 7 years ago, she's never been. Seeing two shows and a trip to the Grand Canyon on Saturday. Will have dinner after the shows (around 9:30).
Looking for two really fine meals. On my list so far is Aureole, Jaleo, Sage and one of the restaurants at the Venetian/Palazzo where we are staying. Would like two others that are not quite as expensive (if possible). Or feel free to comment on our choices! Please no sushi and don't need to eat at another steakhouse (have plenty of great ones in NY).
Thanks all!

Going this week for the first time (birthday celebration). Any must haves? There willl be 4 of us. I know the lamb chops....anything else? Thanks all!
MP Taverna in Roslyn?
I went on a Saturday nite around 6:45. They were open about 3 weeks. Service was great, food was wonderful. Prices reasonable. The smashed potatoes (which are not really smashed potatoes) are worth the visit by themselves! By the time we left (around 8:15), it was packed and quite noisy. Looking forward to going back either early again or definitely during the week.
ARUBA- A Report
Was there in February.....loved it, the food, the people, the experience. Looking forward to next year!
Cedar Creek in Glen Cove
Anybody try yet? The good, the bad and possibly the ugly?
Thanks.
LOOKING FOR GREAT TWEEN FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS IN ARUBA
here now....trying some new places this year.....so far Papillion, Barefoot, Gostoso...are new to us. Old Fisherman downtown is a favorite. Tonite Papiamento (haven't been in years). Tomorrow nite Carte Blanche. Ever tried Bingo's? Great burgers. Also trying Anna Maria's next week..
ARUBA BABY ARUBA
Bingo's is one of my favorites! Burger is deelish. Also just made a reservation for Carte Blanche...have heard only good things and sounds different for Aruba (tho not for NY). Also another place called Anna Marias....Know anything about it?
Any recs for Port Washington?
La Piccola Liguria is a really good choice. If not in the mood for Italian, try Wild Honey on Main.
Agree....forget Louie's (good for summer and sitting outside) and definitely forget Waterview (not sure its even worth it during the summer).

Lake Worth area?
Going down this weekend....have 2 nites to plan dinner. Anything new that we should try or even anything old that I haven't tried? Maybe some quick lunch places? Haven't been in the area for about 1 1/2 years. Do like the downtown Lake Worth area. Have eaten at Coucco Pazzo and The Cottage. Any info would be great and appreciated! Thanks..
Help in Times Square
Dafni....Greek restaurant on 42nd St. between 8th & 9th. Reasonable, good and geographically desireable.
Brunch spot in Western Nassau/Eastern Queens
If you're only looking for buffet.....low key is Shish Kebab in Port Washington. Supposedly a very nice selection and except for holidays, $9.95! Another more upscale, but probably not as upscale as Garden City Hotel is Riverbay.
Where do you go when you visit Aruba?
I second Yemanja Grill....also Que Pasa. For something downscale, but good...Old Fisherman in town.
Chinese in Forest Hills, Rego Park, Glendale areas?
Thanks all...if it was just me and my Mom, it would have been Andy's for sure. But felt Tung Shing House better suited with my Aunt. Soup dumplings certainly not the best I've had, but not bad. Scallion pancakes, salted pepper pork chops, beef with string beans (beans done nicely but a little salty) and chicken with rice cakes (never had them prepared in a white sauce with just lots of parsley and some other green, maybe chives?). Service and people very nice. Thanks!

Chinese in Forest Hills, Rego Park, Glendale areas?
Elderly Aunt lives in Forest Hills and has a big yen for Chinese food. I'm a Flushing person, but Flushing wouldn't work with her. Any recommendations anywhere within 10-15 minutes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
