DD's Bavarian Cream donut, extinct?

Forget the DD Barvarian Cream and try the ones in the remodeled Market Baskets that have the coffee shops... HUGE Puffs airy donuts and the Barvarian Cream is to die for! .79 each but worth each luscious bite... they are huge sized.... get there early not always found later in day.

Bacci's in Stoneham

Easter dinner out or catered

My family and I have frequented Montvale Plaza, 54 Montvale Ave Stoneham, over the past several Easters Sunday's. They have everything from omelet stations to carving stations and everything in between. They have two sittings and sell out quickly so don't miss out. I believe it is $30 per person. Their number is 781-438-8858.

Favorite Salads in Boston?

I enjoy the Signature Salad at COSI.

De Pasquale's Fresh Ravs- Favorites?

I am a fan of the regular LARGE cheese raviolis. I also love their sauce and meatballs. They also have great soups. I guess, there isn't anything they sell that I don't love! The large ravioli's cook up enormous- I can always tell a DePa's ravioli... makes me want to go there for dinner tonight!

Lobster roll hear I-93 north?

I would go to Moulton's Seafood in Medford not Kelly's. Moulton's right off 93, Mystic Valley Parkway exit follow to Medford Sq exit- go left then .5 mile down go right onto Summer St and you follow to the end and Moulton's is in front of you... so easy!

Salvatore's in Medford?

I was unimpressed with the dinners we had there. I thought they were a bit on the pricey side and just mediocre. We went back to try their "3 pound" pizza as a take out and it wasn't bad. I know people rave about this place, especially since Medford really is in dire need for great family priced dinning. We won't be back anytime soon.

As an aside: Salvatore's is opening a new restaurant right next to the Opera House in Boston... can you say GOLD MINE??? There is limited dinning in the theater district and to have a place right next door to the Opera House and a stones through from the Citi Arts Center, Shubert and such they should do a smashing business.

Steak Tips

NewBridge... not sure if there is any Non meat items- they have a great house salad!

Plymouth - Last Minute Birthday Dinner

I use to enjoy Camilla's, Haven't been there for a while but it was always packed and had great food. There use to be entertainment there on Friday nights too.

Excellent Fried Clams?

I go to Moulton's Seafood all the time and I never leave without the fried clams. I either get them as my appetizer or my dinner but I get them. You won't find any better anywhere... They have the best broiled scallops and haddock/scrod also. My husband always gets the broiled swordfish. We go almost every week and have been for years and have never ever had a bad meal.

Caterining options for small party?

Why not do either a Clambake or BBQ. I know Marty's Caterers are doing specials on I believe both. I have had them do summer parties for me and have never been disappointed. They travel everywhere. They are located in Stoneham.

I have also used Wildflour Catering in Charlestown and Fireside Catering in Burlington

What is it about Bahn Mi's that make them so addicting?

I have to admit, I was hooked with my very first bite 4 years ago. Since I work in Chinatown in Boston it takes every ounce of my being to not eat a Bahn Mi EVERYDAY for lunch. I have successfully been able to limit my addiction to about every 2.5 weeks and not a day longer.

As I sit here today, yes, today is Bahn Mi day, I find myself wondering what exactly is it about this gastronomical delight that causes my intense cravings? Is it that flaky roll, the pickled veggies, the hot pepper, the bbq beef (only kind I eat) or is it that buttery spread that set my taste buds into a tail spin so many years ago? It doesn't help that they are so darn cheap! $3.00- you can't buy anything good to eat for $3.00 anymore!

I would love to hear from others that find themselves with this same addiction (or not)...

Summer Shack (Alewife) Again

You should have driven 10 more minutes down route 16 to Moultons Seafood in Medford... the best seafood around. I even challenge it to Woodmans and any of the other "Clam Shacks"

banh mi

I believe the 163 uses the birds eye chili not jalapenos and this is the reason I love their sandwiches so much because they are the only place that uses them here in Chinatown (boston).

I think it is more a butter based spread than it is mayonnaise. I have never associated the spread as being mayo just butter

Ship Out Of Luck!

The reason none of these restaurants don't make it at this location is simple... they really don't understand who their clientele are- people who shop at the Christmas Tree Shoppes do not want to pay $20 for ANY MEAL. They are people looking for INEXPENSIVE and none of the restaurants that have inhabited this location since the renovation have seem to understand this point. This restaurant will not draw clientele from anywhere but the shoppers at the store next door... No one from Lynnfield/Saugus/Melrose or Malden are going to head there for dinner unless they are shopping next door. If simple homemade pub/italian/burgers or such faire were offered around $6.00-9.00 per entree they may have a better shot at making it. I love to eat out and I will not pay $20 for pork chops anywhere...

banh mi in chinatown

163 Sandwiches on 64 Harrison Ave the best in Chinatown.

banh mi

I have never had the Banh Mi in Dot but I have to say the ones from the 163 Sandwich Place on Harrison Ave in Chinatown are the absolute best in the neighborhood. I have yet to have anything from this small establishment that wasn't delicious. They also do the best frozen drinks and has the best jasmine tea.

Recommendations for caterer

Wildfour Catering- Charlestown... they do a lot of funcitons for Wellesley College.... also Marty's Catering Stoneham.

Wedding Caterer Suggestions - Arlington/Cambridge

WildFlour Catering 50 Terminal St. Charlestown

Any experience with Tasty Plates caterer? or Tastings?

Wild Flour Catering in Charlestown is great...

nice restaurant, overlooking water, North Shore-ish?

There is one in Salem whose name escapes me right now... I am thinking Captains Table but not sure that's it. It has an outside deck on a nice day it's wonderful to sit at. Food not too bad, I usually get the salad with salmon on it.

Best Banh Mi

You have to tell her you want it spicy, spicy, spicy... before she wraps it ask if she put the spicy in it...

Best Banh Mi

I prefer 163 on Harrison Ave @ Beach St... next door to bank/cell phone shop. I think they are the best of all the Bahn Mi places in Chinatown and trust me when I say I have tried them all- I have worked in CT for almost 4 years! LOL!!!!

black rice?

I bought some at Shaws in Brighton (in the Wild Harvest Section). I have seen it in other local grocery stores as well.

Fried clams on The Cape

Kreme & Kone on rte 28 @ Rte 134 in Dennis... if you can't make it there then do Captain Frosty's but K&K are the best- better onion rings also.
