How do you feel about the proposed shark fin ban? (moved from Ontario board) Most everyone I have spoken to seem to see it in a positive light that a ban on shark fin is being proposed in Toronto. Being Asian, I've had shark fin on several occasions (usually weddings)...I believe many Asians connect shark fin with celebrating happy moments, so some are against banning shark fin. I wanted to see what CH'er think about this. |

We'll probably end up using one of the boardrooms on the floor to set things up. We don't really have a kitchen, but we do have a fridge, so it looks like we'll have to make it at home then bring it in. |

I hope I am posting in the right page. Was hoping what other CH's have done for potlucks and the reaction...I want to steal your idea :) Having an office potluck, everyeone here is very open, and there are no food restrictions. Something out of the norm is very welcomed. |

My mistake, I meant the wedges....yes, I agree, every much from frozen. |

This isn't the first negative review I've heard. Did you order sides? The fries taste like they're from frozen. |

Restaurant recommendation for a lunch near Finch and Markham? Some place to take a casual date for lunch. I want to spend about $20-30 pp for lunch, I prefer continental, but doesn't have to be any specific cuisine, as long as the dessert is good. |

Anyone know where I can find this South East Asian dish? Really? Because I've looked, and can not find it...so if you can name me one that sells nam khao, that would be great. |

Are there any Lao or Northern Thai restaurants in the city? You're absolutely right. I will ask, but definitely won't get my hopes up. Does she spend most of her time at a particular restaurant? Or is it split 50/50? |

Are there any Lao or Northern Thai restaurants in the city? What happened to Sukho Thai? I've spoken to her on a few occasions (in Lao too, so rare), but that was 2 years ago, so Sukho Thai is closed now and Khao San Road is open? She is extremely friendly, so friendly in fact, I remember not taking her up on offers to make off-menu items because I felt so guilty because I know she actually takes the time to buy the ingredients herself. Thanks for the information, this would explain the last few times driving to Sukho Thai and finding them closed...if I can't find a place that offers "Nam Khao", I might beg her to make it. Seriously though, Nam Khao is right up there for me with Pho, and duck confit as the most delicious entree ever conceived. ----- |

Are there any Lao or Northern Thai restaurants in the city? I am part Lao, and have never learned any Lao recipes. I am hoping to find a little bit of "home" cooking...I know the chances are slim...but I am hoping to find any Lao or Northern Thai restaurants in Toronto. Any names? |

Anyone know where I can find this South East Asian dish? It's called Nam Khao, or Laotian Crispy Rice Salad. I am starting to think it may be something that's available only at home kitchens. |

I've always liked good jerky, but never made a real effort to find it. I did a search and couldn't find anything on it. I was hoping someone knew of a good butcher, or any place really that does good jerky. If possible Thai jerky. I'll be willing to traveling pretty much anywhere in Toronto. |
