Need recommendations for bbq duck in DFW

Thank you so much! I will check out 369. Appreciate the suggestion!

Need recommendations for bbq duck in DFW

I am a big fan of the bbq duck at Din Ho in Austin...they are whole ducks, and they hang over the chopping block from hooks...the flavor is out of this world!! Any recommendations on where I can find something similar to this in the DFW area? I have read through some posts, and it looks like First Chinese BBQ in Richardson or Plano is my best bet, although I'd love some more suggestions. Thanks!

sushi near Hilton Americas in Houston

I haven't been to Houston in a loonnnnnggggg time! Does anyone know of a GOOD sushi restaurant near the Hilton Americas? I'd cab up to 10 minutes but don't want to go across town. Thanks!

Anything new and unique in South Austin?

Thanks! I am always searching for the best breakfast taco, so I'll try this out. Love that it's a taco shack in a corner store...so Austin. Hoping for some new blood down here!

Anything new and unique in South Austin?

Have been traveling a lot and am wondering if anything new and unique (i.e. not a chain) has sprung up in South Austin west of 35...I'm open to any cuisine as long as it's delicious. Anyone have any recommendations?

Please help me find good cake

I was curious to see if there had been any new, recent discoveries. Looking very forward to trying Bakersman Bakery, and I'd heard about Upper Crust having good cake but forgot...thanks ashes and qulch!

Please help me find good cake

I realize that there has already been a cake discussion in Austin on this topic...but...ummmm...has anybody landed on a piece of moist, dense cake lately (other than chocolate)?

Please don't offer up dry, puffy, spongey, cotton-mouth-causing cake suggestions...I would like a piece of sweet-yet-savory, moist, fresh, stick-to-your fingers cake. Carrot, red velvet, white, yellow, etc.

and another thing...
I LOVE angel food cake, frosted with white, whippy-yet-chewy frosting. But not the grocery store kind, the home-made kind. Does this exist in Austin?

Thanks, 'hounds.

Best escargot in town?

I just went to a restaurant called The Emerald on Hwy 71. It's a small stone cottage tucked off the road; they serve predominately Irish food, but I went on the recommendation of a friend and had the most DELICIOUS steak, lobster, and escargot. Someone gave it a not so nice review on this website, but the food was absolutely incredible and I'm hard to please. I'll definitely go back. Head's up, the interior is a little dated and it's very expensive, but worth a try.

Incredible Sushi at Tomo

Went last night for dinner (for the 5th time) and had a blast! The owner/head chef Steve hails from Nobu in Las Vegas and he and his staff crank out some amazing presentations. Fish is flown in from everywhere and is SO FRESH. They have a great specials board which always satisfies, but my favorites are the Toro (fatty tuna), the escolar, the sea urchin, and the quail egg shooters. If you know your sushi, ask for whatever you want and they'll put it in a roll for you, except they make it taste much better than you'd ever imagine. My favorite menu rolls are the Volcano (which is literally on fire when they serve it) and the Ex-Girlfriend.

Sushi aside, I am really really impressed with the way Steve runs his restaurant. He and his wife work very hard and are good people.
I've been to all of the sushi restaurants in Austin and really feel that this is the best place. Uchi is too pretentious for me; Tomo has a great interior but is small and comfortable. Tomo is closed Sundays and is located in North Austin, but it's worth the drive as well as the wait.
