Any good food in Duluth?
Will be in town for a few days and am hoping for some decent eats. Any recommendations? TIA
New Orleans Wedding Location Ideas
I just went to a reception at La Pavillion, it was superb all around. Great traditional New Orleans food was served, and all of it was great.
Southern Oaks Plantation was also great. Phenomenal food in a gorgeous, Old-South style plantation. They made really good (and strong) cocktails too.
Dining with parents&in-laws-need recommendation!
I'd second Rio Mar. My the name you can probably figure out it's a seafood focused restaurant. But they do have very good non seafood options as well. It's wonderful, and super consistent. The highest priced entree is $24, with most being 20-22. The ceviches are can't miss. I love the oysters rio mar. If you like seafood, you'll love it.
Simple, Fresh, Grilled (Dinner for Triathlete)
It would be impossible for me to disagree more with this statement.
Bayona or Arnaud's?
Arnaud's is fabulous. Consistently great food, with a great New Orleans atmosphere.
Bayona is good too, but they're more adventuresome and less traditional than Arnaud's. I also think they are not as good, but as you can see, there are a lot of people would disagree. Given the choice I would undoubtably choose Arnaud's, every time.
Best Fine Dining in the DFW Area?
I'll be visiting for a weekend, and I'm looking for the best meal DFW has to offer! Thanks in advance!
Fort Worth Dining Recs?
I'll be in town (staying Downtown) for Thursday night, and I'm looking for one great dinner meal.
Thanks in advance.
Best Restaurant Dessert currently in New Orleans
Vanilla Bean Creole Cream Cheesecake with House Made Graham Crackers and Fresh Berry Flambé at Delmonico
restaurant / food req's for vegan
Any of the fine dining places here would be able to accompany her if you simply ask the chef. Many chefs like this kind of request because it challenges them to do something different that what they've been making that night. My mother is a vegetarian, and she often just asks the chef to prepare dishes for her and they are frequently the best on the table. August would be a great place to go, as well as the previously reccommended Herbsaint. Cuvee would also be high on my list.
Honestly ?
No, I don't even think they're top 3. My current favorite is Ninja on Oak St.
Best food in New Orleans?
For contemporary fine dining, I would not miss Restaurant August, Delmonico, Cuvee, Ralphs on the Park, or Brightsens (in that order).
For Old Line New Orleans fine dining- Galatoirs, Antoine's, or Commanders (I think they are well worth it)
More moderatley priced- Cafe East has great Chinese, Taqueria Corona for Mexican, Rio Mar for Spanish/Tapas (best for lunch), Mandina's for classic New Orleans, Mona's for Middle Eastern, Cassamentos for the best oysters, period and Nor Joes for the city's best Muffaletta.
Camelia Grill is good for late night eats or breakfast (pecan waffle, hmmmmm).
Agree with Popeyes for fried chicken, but non-locals never believe it.
If you would like more specific info (locations of these places), or more info on a specific place/cuisine, I would be glad to post more.
Muffuletta Report
Easilly the best Muffs in the city, Central grocery has good downhill as of late. They're still good (since they stilll get the real muff bread, which only a few places get) but they are not what they once were, and they are not anywhere near as good as Nor Joes.
First Trip to New Orleans
Lunch: Rio Mar for tapas, Mandina's & Acme Oyster House for seafood, Taqueria Corona for Mexican, Port of Call for burgers, Cafe East for incredible Chinese and an absurdly cheap 3 course lunch special!
Dinner: Cochon, Impastatos, Tujagues, Muriels
The places I listed for dinner are 50-70 dollar range for two with no alcohol. Impastatos had a 5 course dinner for 28-34 bucks, and the food is quite good, though not exceptional. Its easily the best deal on the list. If you decide to splurge, try August or Delmonico, both are significantly more expensive than the others though.
First Timer @ Mandina's
The turtle soup at Mandina's is very good, as are their shrimp and oyster po-boys. Pay attention to the daily specials, which are good also. Their Italian salad is awesome, and huge!
Is Emeril's Worth It?
I think his restaurants are all top notch, Delmonico being a step above the rest right now. I had a wonderful meal last week at Delmonico and everything was great. Their dry-aged prime strip is easily the best steak in the city right now, and the crab cake is one of the best around. NOLA is cheaper, but still quite good. The food at Emeril's is more progressive and innovative food wise, while Delmonico is a more classic menu. I think if you go you will enjoy either of them immensely.
For lunch, I would reccomend Rio Mar, its my favorite place to eat lunch right now and they have great tapas as well as their normal menu. Also a great lunch place is Mandina's.
I also second ddavis' suggestions of alternate places, all of which are very good.
Quarter Dining for 12
Depending on how much you want to spend, I suggest the following (highest priced first)
Galatoires
Antoines
Tujagues
