ISO: Cheese Curds

They have often had delicious cheese curds at City Provisions - and I second the Farmer's Market option, though this was the last week for some folks. On Tuesdays they are across from the Dirksen federal building, and have had cheese curds available all summer.

Kyoto-style Iced Coffee

Hi folks - planning a trip to Kyoto and Tokyo in just a few weeks, and I wondered if anyone knows where to find a good spot for the traditional, very-slow-drip method of iced coffee in Kyoto? I can't find anything searching on my own online, because Blue Bottle and others that are using this method now in the US call it "Kyoto-style." Any help would be appreciated - and if not iced, any suggestions for excellent coffee in both cities would still be appreciated! You can take the girl out of Seattle...

Thanks so much!

Dinner for 10 Next week in Chi

What about Publican? Very casual, communal dining setup should make accommodating 10 fairly easy, and no need to dress up...

Best Tasting Menu in Chicago

I second Alinea, but there are a lot of other great options. I set up a wonderful business dinner for a client at Avenues. It was exciting and fun, but the setting is very chic - kind of old school fancy, which depending on your demographic and who you're taking could be a good thing.

I'm going to check out iNG soon, so I'll report back!

Take pity on a poor vegetarian soul!

This is exactly what I wanted - recommendations on how to do New Orleans' classics, which tend not to be veggie-friendly. Thanks so much!

Take pity on a poor vegetarian soul!

Thank you! I know that calling ahead works at a few spots in Chicago, but it's definitely not standard practice. I will give this a try and see what happens!

Take pity on a poor vegetarian soul!

Folks,

I am coming to New Orleans from Chicago for a fun-filled weekend. Now, I already know this is sacrilege, but I can't do anything about it (I've been vegetarian since I was 13 and I just can't stop now!) so I have to ask: what are some great vegetarian options in New Orleans?

I'm not asking about vegetarian restaurants necessarily--one, I'm traveling with a non-vegetarian friend and I fear if I drag her only to veggie restaurants, we may not leave NOLA as friends ;), and two, veggie/vegan restaurants rarely offer dishes that actually taste good. (FYI: notable exceptions in the Chicago-area include Mana Food Bar, Green Zebra, Karyn's - all absolutely delicious as affirmed by numerous meat-eaters).

So while I would happily take any recommendations for delicious veggie restaurants if you have them, I'm also asking whether there are some great restaurants that offer sufficient vegetarian options (entrees or sides - I've been known to make up my own tapas-style menu) so that I could leave feeling happy. I confess to being a bit of a "foodie" - so I'd be grateful for suggestions for awesome cheap eats as well as for fine dining.

Yes, I know that I will be missing out on some of the best food New Orleans has to offer, and I am sad for it. But I would greatly appreciate your help to still make it a memorable dining trip!

Thank you so much for your time -
