Vegan Visitor from Down Under
I'm an omnivore so I'm requesting vegan foodie assistance. A friend from Victoria arrives next month and I'm wondering where we should eat. (He is a very good sport, we met in west africa and ate nothing but couscous&sauce, pasta&sauce and sauce was tomato and onion....)
greens (for the ambience+food), cafe gratitude (I've never been quite able to deal with the pretension...I'm sure Melbourne has something similar)
What's bay area vehgan special? Suggestions please!
Thanks

Maritime East Closing
Not suprising indeed, as the last time we were there, a friday was half empty. Our first meal was brilliant, second good, last a couple of weeks ago seemed off and the place was very quiet.
It's close to home, I was hoping they'd do well, but the weitd rendition of the interior didn't bode well..
Soup for breakfast
This is great, will keep me going for a couple of weeks.
I'm in North Oakland but driving home on the 580 -80 corridor from Marin, so those El Cerrito recommendations are great. But then again, for Pho for breakfast, I'll travel!
Soup for breakfast
Help. I work nights and often come home craving soup.....sopa Azteca, Thai rice soup, wonton, whatever. So I can throw it together myself, but what I'd really love is a place that sells soup at 9am in the East Bay. Any ideas?
Dinner in Healdsburg for <$200?
I'd second Bistro Ralph. While we mostly eat lunch there, it's consistently good and I think in your range.
Eating in downtown Sacramento
I've got 2 days of a conference and want to find something terrific to eat to make up for the long hours inside. Will be near the capitol. Would love recommendations.
