Vietnamese in the South Bay
Pho So 1 Restaurant in Gardena on Redondo Beach Blvd and Western is pretty good.
Sunday Dinner... Need help deciding between Michael Mina at Bellagio or his StripSteak at Mandalay Bay
I know they are different. I've read the menus and oogled over the photos but it's not enough. I want to hear straight from mouths that have eaten there.
Are there those who have even tried both?
Tell me about your flavorful experience. Let me hear how fabulous the food is and why my husband and I should go to one over the other.
We've already been to Carnevino, Cut, Craftsteak, Joel Robuchon, Bouchon, etc...
:D Please? Pretty Please? With hot sea salt caramel on top?
THanks!

Late Night Dining in the Torrance area
Just got back from Tea Station in Gardena. They close at 12:00 on most days but I think 1:00 during the weekend.
Granted, my experience there today was not a good one but might be worth trying anyways.
Teas were excellent but services sucks like there is no tomorrow!
Favorite cheap must-eats in Vegas? On or off the strip!
Just curious if any chowhounds have any cheap must-eats when in Vegas? :)
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner recs needed!
Thanks!
recession deals in las vegas
Craftsteak's prie fix is a really good deal. They offer many dishes per course so you get to try quite a few different dishes.
One of my favorite's in Vegas. We're actually going Monday night. :)
Late Night Dining in the Torrance area
I agree. It's alright on the "greasy" end... if you're looking for something from your norm set of restaurants.. it's ok to try. But a fair warning, the later it gets, the more people there is.
We tried going once after SO got home from work, it was so crowded, there was line to get in. Looked like a line to get into club — crazy! Turned around and went to Denny's instead. *sigh* :P
Tart – Has anyone been?
I've passed by a few times already on my way to the Grove but never had the opportunity to go. Has anyone been? Good or bad? What did you order? etc....

Mastro's/Beverly Hills
Bone-In ribeye! Bone-in filet! Chilean sea bass! Creamed corn! Crab gnocchi!
(if you do get the fish, ask to NOT have it on a hot plate. Last time, the first bite was heaven but since it kept cooking on the hot plate, by the end, it was a little tough.)
YUM!!! Lucky you!!
Hollywood Bowl...eat there? or bring your own?
Thanks for all the responses! We ended up going to Whole Foods to pick up a few things to bring with us. It was wonderful but I definitely want to try doing a Dessert Only PIcnic or picking up a picnic box/bento box next time. :) Actually, we were really glad we brought our own since our bus arrived late. :)
Late Night Dining in the Torrance area
Raku Raku Tonkatsu House on Sepulveda (cross street Western Ave) is open till 2 AM
BCD Tofu House closes at 11:30... it's also on Sepulveda but across the street from Raku Raku.
Hope this helps! :)
Hollywood Bowl...eat there? or bring your own?
Just wondering how the food is at the Bowl? Has anyone ever eaten there at any of the places offered? Worth paying the price not to lug your own? or should a picnic be packed?
:)
Best Corned Beef Hash - South Bay
You're right. It's a new owner and it sucks now. :T
Rehearsal Lunch/Happy Hour/Dinner in Vegas
Just wondering if any fellow chowhounds know of a few places to have a rehearsal lunch/happy hour/dinner? Something casual, fun and hopefully that won't kill our wedding budget.
Any suggestions???? :)
DineLA Restaurant Week 2009
It's also disappointing to see how some restaurants are serving the same menu for lunch AND dinner but yet the prices increase about $22. Might as well order something off the regular menu that you really want instead.
Best Corned Beef Hash - South Bay
Really? I hope not! They have one of the best pork chops ever. I was there end of December. From the amount of people that go, I don't think they would?
I know they aren't open for dinner though. Hmmm....
Best Corned Beef Hash - South Bay
Uncle Bob's (Okazuya) in Gardena. It's a hawaiian japanese place if I remember correctly. I've had their Corned Beef Hash Patties... pretty good!
chocolate cake in los angeles
both! :) if it's a whole cake, i can always take the rest to work.
chocolate cake in los angeles
so a friend and I are craving .... CRAVING... for a great chocolate cake. A chocolate cake that is not too sweet but rich in flavor — moist spongy crumbs that aren't too coarse and just makes you swoon.
we've had one that was pretty good at kincaids in redondo beach but they don't always have it.
willing to drive in the LA area for this one craving... any suggestions????? :D
Sushi Pizza- California specialty?!
I don't think it's standard but besides Tokyo Table, Nobu also has that dish.
Where and What to Eat... Only 3 days of Vegas
So M and I are heading out to Vegas in a few weeks. Besides looking forward to some good R&R, experiencing some great cuisine is our only other purpose there.
The only meal we've both decided on was Bouchon for Brunch.
Dinner is where we can't make up our minds. Chowhounds, what do you think of our list of options?
L Atelier de Robuchon
Fleur de Lys
Picasso
Craftsteak
Joel Robuchon
Guy Savoy
What are must tries and what can we do without until next time? Any other suggestions? Any lunch suggestions?
Benitas Fritas???
The last place that I went to was Hollywood Fries near UCLA. Danny Glover owned it the last time I was there and I actually met him once at Benitas Fritas on 3rd street when they were still around. It's been awhile so you might want to google it and see if Hollywood Fries is still around. :)
Mastro's or BOA in SM?
I love Mastro's. It's more of a atmosphere where you can "catch up" with a friend and just have a delicious meal!
Definitely bone-in filet or the ribeye. If you're considering the fish, I'd ask for it off a hot plate since my Chilean Sea Bass got a little tough towards the middle. :)
Mom's Birthday lunch in Pasadena
Try Maison Akira. :)
They are a japanese/french restaurant and they are delicious!
Which SSG location is best for yakitori?
I like the one in Gardena on Western Ave. but you might want to get there early because it seems crowded all the time. My bf and I try to go when they open but we still end up waiting for a little bit.
Tres Leches Cake
I have heard their tres leches is very good. Although, I did buy a Portos Tres Leches and the cake is very dry. I bought the one with meringue topping and I don't recommend that one. Try the one with the original whipped top. Maybe you'll have better luck :)
Wedding Planning - Calamigos Ranch
You should also check Good Gracious! Events. They catered one of our events last year and they are really good! I believe Spago has now started catering weddings. You might want to check them out also. If you're a fan of Sona/Comme Ca, the Food Art Group also does catering... :)
almond croissants at la Maison du Pain (longish)
I agree. There is nothing special about their croissants at La Maison Du Pain. The croque madame was terrible - the cheese wasn't even melted, the egg was practically fried, and the bechamel sauce was no where to be found. The only good thing was we got our desserts to go... they were so bad that both my bf and I gagged on them and tossed the box. It would have been quite insulting if we gagged there at the store.
Haven't tried Bread Bar but Europane and Amandine are just delicious....
Needed: Nice *Quiet* Pasadena restaurant
Maison Akira would be nice... It's very very quiet in there. You don't feel rushed nor have to fight trying to hear your table's conversation. :)
