Nice, affordable dinner for two (Moroccan?) in Cambridge/downtown

Thanks to all those who have posted!! Baraka looks great, and I happen to love bastilla so I seriously think I might have to go for that. I'll let you know how it goes :)

Nice, affordable dinner for two (Moroccan?) in Cambridge/downtown

I'm looking for a place for a nice dinner with my boyfriend for sometime next week. We both live in Inman Square/East Cambridge and rely on public transportation, so it will have to be accessible. We also have a pretty tight budget (feels big to me but quite small comparing to what I've been seeing on the boards) - my parents have given me about $45 for the both of us for a birthday meal. We won't be ordering drinks which will help and can easily do without apps and desserts - a good entree ranging between $12-20 is the most important part.

I love middle eastern/mediterranean food and have not had moroccan since moving up from DC a few years ago - I've seen VERY mixed reviews on Tajine in Harvard Square but I think ideally would love to find someplace that serves good Moroccan food (or something similar) within our transportation and price ranges. A decent, romanticish atmosphere would be great if possible too.... is this all too much to ask for? Would be willing to try Tajine if enough ppl seem to think it's worth it, but so far it's not looking too good....

Affordable, accessible birthday dinner for a large group

Ok, so maybe the $5 mark is stretching it a bit - it was more of a random low marker than anything else! Most of my friends are recent Americorps alums and we haven't exactly been making much money.....

Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm not really feeling the chinatown or the happy hour specials though. And unfortunately several people will be coming from Cambridge/Somerville, so the blue line is actually the least convenient option (it's the only one that doesn't intersect with red).

The other places look interesting, but you're right they're a bit pricier than I want and I'm realizing that I really just want Dogwood, with it's menu and atmosphere, to be located downtown. Looks like I'm screwed in that department...

Affordable, accessible birthday dinner for a large group

I'm celebrating my 25th next week and am looking for an affordable (and by affordable I mean downright cheap - at least some options in the $5-15 range) place to celebrate that is preferably downtown or at least somewhere relatively accessible from all T-lines. Oh, and my group is probably going to be at least 10 people so they need to have a decent amount of room, but it will be on a Monday night so that should open things up a bit.

I'm a huge fan of Dogwood Cafe near where I used to live in Jamaica Plain, but I'm worried it's a bit far for some of my friends and am hoping to find someplace similar in a more accessible location. My friends and I will probably all be taking public transportation and will be coming from all over Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, so downtown would be ideal but I know it's hard to find something affordable there.

Any suggestions?

Good Feta in JP?

sweet, thanks! I'll have to try that out.

Good Feta in JP?

Hi - I just moved to JP (near Forest Hills) and am looking for a good Middle Eastern grocery store, particularly one where I could buy a good tub of feta cheese! I don't have a car, but I have a bike and can take the T - does anyone know of a place that wouldn't be too hard for me to get to???
