1 night in town, Barbuzzo or Zahav as a solo diner? Maybe we should help! |

1 night in town, Barbuzzo or Zahav as a solo diner? I guess she popped from all of the food? |

Glad you liked it. Now I am hungry... |

Challenge: Taking a picky 10 year old for a "fancy" lunch. The burger at Lacroix is decent, they are accomodating, and the setting is pretty special. |

Where should we go for a GREAT dinner to impress someone on their first Philly visit? Mesibah at Zahav. Casual, unpretentious, but great food. |

Anything new under the sun in northern NCC, DE? That thought did cross my mind. Wonder if he/she ever eats at El Diablo? Having my table bussed there would work for me. |

Anything new under the sun in northern NCC, DE? I am lost! Is that a language issue or humor on your part, a comprehension issue on mine, or do you just work there? :/ |

Dinner with children near emgbassy suites center city I can't believe nobody mentioned Jones. Think comfort food in a Brady Bunch setting. |

Green Eggs Cafe is not too far away for a casual breakfast but it's beyond crowded on the weekend. The Dutch Eating Place at Reading Terminal Market has great pancakes (it's at 12th and Arch) bit it's just a big counter with take out. Do check out the Market though...it's a lot of fun and they have great roast pork sandwiches at DiNic's. Also close by to your hotel is Varga Bar that serves up some good upscale bar food and places like Zavino at 13th and Sansom for great pizza and small plates. Also you aren't far at all from South St or other places in the Rittenhouse areas. |
DiNic's opens around 9ish but sometimes some of the greens and stuff aren't done until shortly thereafter. You should be good by 10 AM though. |

You got it...wet is best. And I second the Capogiro recommendation (especially the bacio). And as good as the chocolate chip cookies are at Fourth St. there is no way I could eat one every day. You could mix in a cannoli from Termini's quite easily or a french toast donut from Federal Donuts. |
I like it now and then. It's one of those things you have to try while you are in town. Even if it is fried and bad for you. |
Barbuzzo--still underwhelmed on second visit My one visit there was so-so. Good charcuterie, decent pasta, soggy pizza. Of course the budino was good. And I feel less cramped on Southwest these days... |
I think they do. But Claudio's is the best IMO. |

Repurposing Friendly's locations It's yours for the taking. What's even stranger is that the Friendy's does well with a local creamery with cows and all a half mile away. |
Repurposing Friendly's locations Weird. The Friendly's near me that opened only a few years ago in my neck of the woods seems to be thriving. Shows how much my fellow Delawareans know about haute cuisine. |

Anastazi's at the Italian Market does really good fried softshell crab sandwiches. And the ones I downed at the Oyster House over the weekend were delicious. |
The Dutch Eating Place at Reading Terminal Market fries their scrapple. It's a bit greasy sometimes but it's good! And the pancakes soak up the grease quite nicely I might add... |
I haven't tried the brunch at Amis but dinner there was pretty good and they had some decent desserts. |
The Swedish princess hits Philadelphia The Reading Terminal Market is indeed great but not every oyster has a pearl! There are lots of fabulous places to eat at the market but Pearl's would not be up there on my list. |
Oyster House (sorry). |
The Swedish princess hits Philadelphia Glad you liked the lamb at Zahav. One of my favorite foods on the planet... Did we recomend Pearl's Oyster Bar or am I amiss? |
Anastazi has them and are they good. Hopefully OH will have them this week. |

Neighborhood place in rittenhouse square Somehow, nobody has mentioned Estia on Locust St. They have a decent $30 three course price fixe business lunch special that includes washer-fresh octopus, freshly grilled fish, and a dessert like bakalava. Good food, relaxed, comfy atmosphere and not pretentious (albeit expensive as it gets for dinner when the fish is sold by the pound). |
I would absolutely write a letter to the manager and let them know what happened. Alas, the past two visits at Lacroix we were greeted with rather green servers. One was really good, the other seemed a bit clueless, especially when she neglected to let us know that the wonderful fish they serve at lunch is now served in an extremely spicy broth. I almost want to ask to reserve a server (Jorge) the next time. Some places it does not make so much of a difference but at Lacroix there should be no excuse for this. |

Italian Flag Cookies? (aka Seven Layer Cookies, Tricolor Cookies etc.) They have a mediocre version of them at DiBruno's Rittenhouse location but they are not all that prevalent around town. Maybe Isgro's ight have them. I know that Termini's does not. Plenty of places to get them in New York though and I have some in my freezer from a trip up there not too long ago. |
Neighborhood place in rittenhouse square It's so small at a.kitchen and a little pretentious if you ask me. I feel more on the spot there than Parc for example because of the size (or lack thereof). I have not been since Sykora left so who knows how good the food is there at the a.k these days. |
They have been open for a few years (or more?) now under new ownership. People drool over that cake (it's not sweet enough for me) but they have really good nonpariel cookies there. |
Neighborhood place in rittenhouse square I second Tria. It's upscale but not "a show" if you know what I mean. Rotisseur also has really good chicken and it's extremely, extremely casual. |
Termini's version is actually a round ring of pound cake with lemon curd in the middle of it and a lemony tasting topping spinkled on top. |
