Anyone know where to get small pumpkins?
don't know where you are but i saw some the other day at colombo's [produce market & italian specialty items] on metropolitan avenue in middle village in queens.
Park Side Corona-An Oldie but Goodie
great baked clams. they have their own homemade red wine and it's served chilled. the large, open dining room is very dated [decor-wise] but comfortable. attentive waitstaff.
Philadelphia restaurant dishes that you dream about
italian tuna & veggie hoagies from chickie's deli
So much for Arthur Ave.. where's the Italian??
i agree with yussdov that in queens, uvarara on metropoiitan ave in middle village and la tavernetta on metropolitan ave in forest hills may have just the kind of italian food you seek. also in queens you may want to try trattoria l'incontro in astoria. i know you've had a bad experience on arthur ave, but have you given roberto's a try?
Reccomended restaurants that accept restaurant.com certificates

Do you eat like a pig but stay skinny?
don’t i wish! i’m 5’7” and most comfortable between 105-110. i’m a 45 year old female and it takes every bit of self-control i can muster as my favorite foods are pizza, pasta & bread!
best margaritas
brklynbobby, i know you did not ask but may i suggest that instead of simple syrup you use agave nectar. it's not quite as sweet as sugar and made from the same plant as tequila.
Challah
amy's bread in chelsea market makes a great square challah which is perfect for french toast.
Louie and Ernie's Pizzeria
totally agree. the husband and i love this place for it's neighborhood feel, friendly service and great food. we love their regular slice. thin crust with a nice bit of char, tasty sauce, not too much mozz and just the right amount of oregano. i've had their white slice and while delicious, is just too much cheese for me. and, their eggplant & broccoli rabe calzones are tdf.

some recommendations for good food in ulster county:
miss lucy's kitchen on partition st in saugerties for local seasonal fare.
the little bear in bearsville [just outside of woodstock] for casual chinese. get a table on the patio with a view of the stream.
near the little bear is the bear cafe. new american fare also with a focus on local seasonal ingredients.
chefs on fire in high falls. beneath the depuy canal house. pizzas and sandwiches. funky rustic atmosphere.
all have sample menus online.
woodstock, saugerties and high falls are great towns to meander around in and there are fabulous hiking trails along route 44/55 in the mohonk preserve and minnewaska state park.
in sullivan county:
not chow related but since you are in the area you may wish to take a trip to the bethel woods center for the arts for a look at the new woodstock museum.
enjoy!
buffalo area recommendations please
reporting back as promised ... went to fiamma steak. i'm not a food critic so please bear with me. we were a party of four adults, seated upstairs which was nice and quiet so we were able to converse without noise from the downstairs bar. we shared appetizers: jumbo asparagus, baked clams and a small lump crabmeat salad. entrees: my husband had this special fred flintstone chop which he could not finish. he was undoubtedly full from the ted's footlong and fries he scarfed earlier in the day. unable to recall what kind of small serving of white fleshed fish i had, but it was tasty. my daughters had the petit filet and and the ahi tuna which they were happy with. husband was too full so the girls and i shared a small apple pie tartlet thing with vanilla ice cream and a trio of sorbets.
waiter was clueless. my husband ordered a pre-dinner dewars and soda. he was served a dewars and water which was immediately replaced with the correct drink. at dessert he ordered a cup of coffee and a cognac and was served a cup of coffee into which cognac had been poured. this was after the waiter had dumped the first cognac laced coffee all over himself and had to dry himself off and change his clothes.
turns out we were in the buffalo area for a much shorter time than originally anticipated and were not able to utilize the rest of the recommendations but will save them for future reference.
thanks again!
