Best store bought kimchi?

I live in Ktown and have visited a couple of markets around the area but have yet to find a brand of kimchi that I like. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Pizza Topping Showdown!

I'm also curious about the winner (and pics, if possible)!

First visit to Trader Joe's...

I second that edamame hummus recommendation. It will blow you away. I also recommend their sun dried tomato and pesto torta dip.

You can eat them with the pre-packaged pita chips they sell there or what I like to do is just slice a couple of pieces of pita bread and bake at 375 for 7-12 minutes, until crispy. You can add just a bit of EVOO and sprinkle some rosemary before baking for a little seasoning as well...although the hummus/dip would take care of that!

AND ALWAYS TRY THE DEMOS!

Sparky's Piedmont Ave vs Barney's

Any menu recommendations? I may be in the area over the weekend...

Pizza Topping Showdown!

I've just discovered roasted fennel and would add that, Italian sausage and provolone. To roast the fennel, I'd add add a little EVOO, salt and pepper and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure to toss/turn fennel every 25-30 minutes or so.

Chipotle....What's Good Here?

I agree. Chipotle strives to get their ingredients at local markets and not only does it cut transportation costs, it tells you exactly where your food is coming from.

I'm also fond of Chipotle because of their gluten-free chips (they have a great salty-citrusy punch to them)! I personally don't have wheat allergies (but have other food allergies) so I think it's great you can go to a chain and have these kind of options available for you.

Slow Cooker Desserts - RECOMMENDATIONS WANTED!

I am also interested in the recipe! (How long does it take to cook? Any lo/hi heat preference?)

McDonald's "Asian Salad"

I passed by this exact sign on Fairfax/6th the other day and gave it a hearty HA! And I also agree, more gimmicky than offensive.

Homemade PB&J

30 minutes for a PB&J? At that rate, I'd definitely make my own bread too.

Slow Cooker Desserts - RECOMMENDATIONS WANTED!

That's exactly what I do! Toss everything in the morning and come home to dinner -- I can smell my apartment 20 feet away! Thanks for the book (and timer) recommendation! I'm going to check it out this weekend. Bread/Rice puddings would definitely hit the spot!

Slow Cooker Desserts - RECOMMENDATIONS WANTED!

I received a slow cooker as a birthday present and was suddenly thrust upon this wonderful world of perfectly stewed eats. I hear my options aren't limited to the savory variety, however, and was wondering if anyone had any dessert recipes they'd like to share.

Daikokuya - how long is the wait during lunch hours

Agreed. Try to go there before or after peak times and long lines shouldn't be an issue (11-11:30 or 1:30-2). I used to work nearby and noticed significantly shorter lines during those times.

Filipino Food in Historic Filipinotown?

Any turo-turo recommendations (preferably in the Ktown, Hi-Fi, Silverlake area) that serves pretty good dinuguan? I used to go to this place in Palms (on Venice/Clarington) but it has since been closed down.
