What size round Le Creuset for whole chicken?

I absolutely love Julia Child's Poulet en Cocotte Bonne Femme! I have made it in my 5.5 quart LC round, but just made sure to choose a chicken around 4 pounds, rather than a large one. Yum!

le creuset dutch oven lid question

My second DO has exactly that: a B etched into the bottom of the lid. It's not a stamp like the number size, just a small single letter that was clearly etched by hand with a dremel tool or something like that.

Finding kitchen stuff made in the usa

I have recently bought a Nordicware jelly roll pan and a USA Pan cookie sheet. Both very nice, but I love the USA Pan!

What is one tip that you learned about cooking that was simple but made a huge difference? [old]

Another ginger tip: use a spoon to scrape off the skin of the ginger--infinitely easier than trying to cut it off!

Le Creuset starter piece?

Thanks, everyone! It's so helpful to hear your thoughts. From now on, I'll consider both 5.5 and 7.25 as great options for gifting, and just base the decision on the recipient's most likely uses. I appreciate it!

Le Creuset starter piece?

Thank you, Rasputina! That's what I was hoping to hear and it's really helpful to know that you've used it in multiple homes and not had trouble.

Le Creuset starter piece?

Right, I suspected that the 7.25 would be tricky to fit in the sink, hence the question. The reason that I felt it worth asking is that I've not read that feedback anywhere in reviews or here on Chowhound, so I thought perhaps my concern was unfounded. Thanks for your feedback.

What The Heck Is Up With All This "Chipolte" BS?????

I am 100% with you using the spelling to sound the word out. People can't be expected to accurately pronounce every language, but if they are going to mispronounce something, the guess should at least be based on spelling. In the case of "chipotle", people pronounce the "o" correctly, but can't manage to recognize the order of the consonants. Goodness.

Le Creuset starter piece?

Hi everyone, I've got a question related to the 5.5/7.25 distinction. For the last few years, I've had a 5.5 round that I absolutely love. When contemplating giving LC ovens as gifts, I've thought about the 7.25, but have one hesitation. Is the 7.25 difficult to manoeuver when washing in the sink? Even with my 5.5, I don't have a ton of extra space to flip and turn, etc. when washing and rinsing. I wonder if the larger size on the 7.25 would make it a pain. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Le Creuset 5.5 qt. round AND and a 4.5 qt. oval - too much?

Hi Blondelle! I clicked this to read this because it sounded similar to my 5.5 qt. round/4.25 soup pot question. Too funny that you referenced it and are having a similar dilemma. You did help me. The comments whether pro or con confirmed that I was just hoping someone would convince me that I didn't just want something I didn't need. I decided that only if I were to find very inexpensive soup pot would I get one, which means I'm without. However, if I happen to come into piles of money soon, you know what I'll be buying! Thanks for your help and good luck with your decision!

Le Creuset Soup Pot vs. French Oven

Pericolosa, thanks so much! The ability to use a small burner is a great point. Perhaps this needs to be on my list of things to buy if they're a really great deal. :) Thanks, again and hope you get your big soup pot soon and love it!

Le Creuset Soup Pot vs. French Oven

Thanks, Blondelle! I figured that was the case, but was hoping not. I will just have to choose a different item for the top of my wishlist. :)

Le Creuset Soup Pot vs. French Oven

Okay guys, after posting, I saw a prior thread. Somehow couldn't find that when I searched beforehand. Still though, if anyone else has thoughts, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

Le Creuset Soup Pot vs. French Oven

Is there a point in having a Le Creuset Soup Pot if you already have a similarly-sized French Oven? I have a 5.5 quart oven. The 4.5 quart soup pots are very pretty, but I suspect that it wouldn't fulfill many purposes that the French oven can't. Would love to hear the thoughts of those who have both. Thanks!
