I can't stand iceburg lettuce. I like lettuce to be green and flavorful. To me ..iceburg is just a filler. |
My favorite brand by far is Richardson's. |
I prefer scrambled eggs..but they have to have something in them ( cheese, veggies..etc) |

Lobster Roll in Swampscott or Marblehead Wow..sorry to hear that! When did you go? This doesn't sound at all like the lobster roll I had for lunch there about 8 or 9 months ago. I'll be disappointed if they changed the recipe. I've only been a few times and have never had indifferent or incompetent service. If I had, I doubt I would return...although I could probably not stay away from their lobster bisque. |

Lobster Roll in Swampscott or Marblehead I like the lobster rolls at The Barnacle in Marblehead. In Salem..the Lobster Shanty has great lobster rolls. |

Who makes the best Scalli or Italian bread ? For me it's a tossup between Bova Bakery and Piro's. |

Hometown Seafood Closed..but not quite I am thinking that if they have enough people interested who are not in the service area they will go this route. I wonder what the cutoff is for distance..? |

Hometown Seafood Closed..but not quite I will miss their cooked food as well! I got an e-mail stating that they are expecting to start the service next week. I am guessing the selection will not be quite as varied as they had in the store..but it will be interesting to see what they offer. |

Hometown Seafood Closed..but not quite Hometown Seafood in Andover has closed the doors on their shop in downtown Andover. However..they are not going away completely which is great news to people like me who love the quality and freshness of their seafood. |

Green Barn Restaurant Methuen MA -Demolished I had heard this was going to happen a while ago. I haven't been there in a couple of years...but I have some great memories there. It was one of my son's favorite restaurants as a kid. |

Breakfast and Lunch In Mansfield Just wanted to say thanks again for all the suggestions. We just came home from our first weekend event in Mansfield. I knew that for this convention we would not have a whole lot of free time..but for an upcoming May even we have more. Even so..we managed to get away for lunch yesterday and tried Fresh Catch. I had the salmon burger, hubbie had the clams and our friends had a tuna melt and Mahi BLT respectively. Everyone was please with their food and the service was nice. We were there right at the beginning of lunch so everything was nice and clean. It's actually a lot bigger inside than I expected it to be! We also bought some seafood dip to take back to the hotel for later that night. This was a hit as well. |

Restaurant help (Waiting is an issue) Neither one of those places are really "on the way" to Burlington. Burlington is north of Boston and from Logan Airport you will actually have to travel south to go to Boston. If you have your heart set on a meal in Boston then I would stick with a place that has easy highway access. Lots of decent places to eat in the Seaport like the other poster has suggested. |

Dinner in Lowell near Tsongas Center? I second Cobblestones. Nice food and service and maybe about a half mile walk. Boston Beerworks is good too. It's usually our go-to place before a Spinners game. I think this is probably about a half mile walk ( give or take) from the Tsongas. |

Places to get good Seafood in MA, NH, or Maine coasts? Markey's in Seabrook is great for lobster, steamers and corn. They also do a very good baked haddock. Fried seafood is always fresh and plentiful. |

Places to get good Seafood in MA, NH, or Maine coasts? I am sorry to hear this. I didn't go to the Beach Plum at all last summer..but the year before I went a couple of times and the lobster rolls were better ( not shredded meat..nice tender chunks). I've never had the lobster bisque..but I've heard it's more like a lobster stew so never bothered to try it. I've tended to go more south than north lately for seafood. I wonder if they at least still serve Richardson's ice cream! |

Post-Marathon meal between Boston and Northeast suburbs It would help if you knew how far they were willing to drive. This matters because if they want to stay close to home, then you will have to use the commuter rail...if they are willing to drive to places like Revere, Malden or Cambridge..then you have more public transportation options..but of the three I am only familiar with the Malden T Station and there are stair and an elevator. I am guessing that most of the T stations are handicap accessible so you will be able to manage. |

Why Does Everyone Pick on the Seaport? Haha..there's definitely that too :-) |
Why Does Everyone Pick on the Seaport? ....and the walk from the Seaport to the North End is very pleasant ..but Hotoynoodle's point is still a valid one..especially when it comes to out of towners who are attending conventions or events and may have limited free time. The area seems to be designed to be self containing and I would suspect that it's not by accident. |
Why Does Everyone Pick on the Seaport? Actually..I think you are exactly right with your last sentence. Even I..who enjoys several different areas of Boston tend to park myself in the Seaport area whenever I have reason to be there..which usually involve either participation at an event at the Seaport...or if it is the pick of one of our monthly dinner group. When you think of it..there is the sense that the Seaport area is designed to keep those conventioneers in that general area. |

Hasn't really been an issue with me. Hubbie loves whatever I cook for dinner. Probably the solution to your problem is to plan meals ahead. This way he knows what's for dinner and can plan his lunch choice around that..instead of you planning dinner around his lunch choice. |
Why Does Everyone Pick on the Seaport? Nothing wrong with wanting good food and service. Truthfully..when I go to the Seaport area it is for the view more than for the food. I tend to enjoy the more casual spots. I'm sure the more chowish people will laugh at this..but I love the breakfast at J Pace..a breakfast sandwich and a fruit cup will fill you up easily until lunch. I like that the coffee is served only in takeout cups so that I can take it with me and enjoy it along the fish pier in the morning. |

When is it OK to change tables? I think it's always okay to change tables or ask to have your table changed if the party next to you is loud, obnoxious..etc. After all..your time, money and experience is important too. You have as much right to an enjoyable experience as the next person! |
Haha! So true :-) |

I agree. The fish from Legal's is always tastes fresh. ( even if the execution isn't 100 percent). The issues..although in my experience infrequent..are usually with service or the way something is cooked. That being said, I don't thing any chain restaurant is ever going to be 100 percent on everything all the time. |
My favorite way to make eggs at home is soft boiled..but occasionally I crave scrambled eggs. However..if they are scrambled they must have cheese. For some reason I really enjoy scrambled eggs with cheese. The thought of eating them plain always turns my stomach. |

What's the verdict on turkey bacon? I've never tried a brand of turkey bacon that I've liked. To me..bacon is one of those foods that you don't fool around with because nothing is going to be as good as the original. If you want a breakfast meat based in turkey..stick with turkey sausage. |

I respectfully disagree. While I like Legals for the most part, I find they can be somewhat inconsistent. I've been to the N. Shore Mall, the Boston locations and the Burlington location and I have to say the most consistent of them all is the Legal Test Kitchen..and even there..the last time I ordered the salmon it was undercooked to the point of almost being raw and had to be sent back. |

Hosting guests when you're sick- do you do it? No question about it. I would cancel or reschedule. |

Restaurants posting tip sharing policies Yes..I agree that culture has a lot to do with it. I think that we in the US tend to take the whole "tipping concept" to the extreme. My feeling is that "the tip" should really be a transaction between the server and myself. I don't like a restaurant setting the policy. My feeling is that if the restaurant owner is implementing a service charge, then they should instead just figure out how much they need to charge for a meal in order to pay their employees fairly..not rely on customer for such things. |
